It's already hard enough to get just 5 mids in; but necessity might require a sacrifice to go down to 4.

Right now I have Macrae, Steele, Touk, Clarry and Neale, with Walsh and Titch just squeezed out, and currently upgrade targets. I think the top 4 have a bit more consistency which is why I want them.

Still Have Not seen the 2021 Brownlow Winner in any teams
Priced at his ceiling and inefficient by foot which caps his ceiling in comparison to the other elite scoring midfielders. Little room for improvement as he averaged 32.4 disposals a game and has never registered a season with more than 80% TOG (Career high 77.3% last season).

For the first time, I'm starting to consider Matt Rowell (342k) as a pick. I was thinking he needed another year of experience and recovery from injury before he was worth looking at, but at a cheapish price he might be worth looking at and a 90-100 type average is possible in his 3rd season if fully fit given his talent. One worth keeping an eye on, he's not in my side at the moment, he's certainly a stepping stone and not a keeper.

Neale at M2 for me at the moment. Besides Neale all those premo mids appear to be at close to max price. If all of the rookie priced options that currently stand out look to be solid in the mids then I'll stack my other positions with premos
Sweet! I tend to think that Mids and ruck premo spots are worth more, if you have equivalent rookie options because their ceiling is higher. It’s a tricky balance.

It’ll be hard for me to not start him at that price!

I agree. In the end the rookies will dictate structure. ATM for me the rookies look to be much stronger in the middle.
Of course with this approach it would be vital to get the premos right on the other lines. That will prove much harder than picking the high-end mids

What are your thoughts on Parish as a starting pick? From round 6 he averaged 124 including that 10 game streak where he averaged 140!

The only potential downside I see is the amount of depth in the midfield but the same can be said for Macrae / Bont.

Any other reasons why I shouldn't be looking at him?

Without watching closely, the end of season drop off has me worried. Explain to me its an injury and great, you got yourself a bargain.. if it's a slight tweak in role and you're over paying. Or this is just what you get. IDK.

I was a bit concerned by that too maybe because McGrath came back late in the year? But he still scored 169 in the final and his CBAs were still good so might have just been a rough few weeks / more attention.

I can say it was almost definitely the effect of being tagged. He had 3 games late in the season where he copped a hard tag and also in the second half of the EF from Dunkley. He’s not complete enough as a player yet to be able to handle them well, for that reason he’s best left alone as a starting pick, this also makes Zerrett a handy trade in option if well priced

Thanks bud, I think I was picking him in some single match SC comps and it was pain and suffering!

Jack Steele

2018 - pre bye avg: 81.4, post bye avg: 111.77
2019 - pre bye avg: 94, post bye avg: 96.22
2020 - avg to round 11: 117.3, avg after round 11: 132 (his last 6 games)
2021 - pre bye avg: 118.5, post bye avg 136.77

Is this random coincidence or is he a slow starter and fast finisher?
