Do we think Andy Brayshaw can make another jump this season?

Might become his midfield this season.
Will be starting him again this year, gonna be 110+ avg easy in my books

Take away the 2 tag effected games, which he can battle through better now, he went easily around 113 avg

Just a bull, him and Walsh top 8 mids by end of year, you heard it here

JORDAN De Goey has returned to training at Collingwood, completing the majority of Friday morning's session at the Holden Centre in warm conditions.

De Goey was stood down by Collingwood after a night out in New York resulted in him charged with assault following an alleged incident at a Halloween-themed party at PHD Rooftop Lounge on October 30.

Collingwood lifted its ban on De Goey attending the club's headquarters on Thursday evening after receiving a written agreement that the 25-year-old would plead guilty to a second-degree harassment violation.

All other charges would be dropped, and no criminal conviction would be recorded under the proposed settlement, the club said.

De Goey must also undertake ongoing support from health professionals and commit to permanent, part-time work with the Salvation Army.

De Goey began Friday morning's session with his teammates, before a brief discussion with new coach Craig McRae.

He took part in all drills and was encouraged throughout the session by fellow Magpies players, particularly after snapping a sharp goal during a forward-line exercise.

The 25-year-old appeared to be in good physical condition and showed no ill-effects of training independently during his two-and-a-half month exile from the club.

The session finished with a full-ground match simulation session but De Goey headed inside while the rest of his teammates took part in the hitout.

In De Goey's most recent New York court appearance via video link, on Wednesday morning, the judge adjourned the case to give the parties time to negotiate on a likely plea deal on a second-degree harassment charge.

The case was adjourned until January 28.

De Goey travelled to the US during the off-season to undergo an intensive fitness program at the W Training Facility in California in an attempt to capitalise on an outstanding end to the 2021 AFL season.

After returning to Australia on November 30, De Goey had been seeking alternative avenues to keep training as he was barred from attending Collingwood's headquarters.

De Goey has played 118 games and kicked 155 goals for Collingwood after debuting in 2015.

He finished fourth in the club's best-and-fairest award this year, capturing close to career-best form in the second half of the campaign.

This is a big call.

I'd be slightly hesitant with any player from WA to start off, it's very likely they will be playing away from home for an extended period due to the WA border restrictions. I'm not saying he won't go 110+ easily, just that these conditions will possibly affect at least some of their players, having to play in hub conditions, when most other teams in the comp don't have to. I'd be ruling out his WA game averages when looking at previous years data to see if he is likely to step up as a start before locking him in. I think his 190 from last year was in Perth, but I didn't look in detail - his average might not look as impressive if you only consider the games at other grounds?

Just looking at that list, Lord is the only rookie, so I am guessing we shouldn't expect many good Bombers rookies this season? That's a bit disappointing, guess we'll have to look elsewhere.
Subject to injuries, I think that's right, don't think we have many spots in the 22 up for grabs.

McDonagh and A Lord probably the best chances but there is a lot of competition for HBF spots now I think. Ridley, Heppell, Hind, Redman are clear B22 in the D6, we even had Cutler play well at HB late last season so he might be the next fringe player in line. Jake Kelly comes in to free up Ridley too.

With the WA border the way it is, and some people's reservations about picking Freo and WCE players. And the likelyhood of Luke Jackson bleeding points off Gawn who are we all settling on as R1+2 ? The above statements basically ruling out S Darcy, Nicnat and M Gawn. They're three pretty bloody good players to be ruling a line through. Prior to this I had Darcy, Grundy em J Williams R/F with L Jackson up forward. Any suggestions ?

This Covid is certainly making decisions on selecting players a lot harder. Hubs may affect some WA players, but not all.
And for the other States, players catching Covid can have long-term effects on their on-field performance.
Just because a player has caught Covid once, doesn't mean he won't catch it again.

..........Even elite athletes competing at the highest levels of their sports are susceptible to the virus’s long-term effects........ and everyone’s recovery has been different........Covid has wreaked havoc on athletes amateur, professional, and otherwise.........While we have heard many stories of athletes recovering and carrying on with their seasons and careers, it is evident that is not the case for every athlete. Even in peak physical condition and in their early to mid-20s, athletes are dealing with the virus’s harsh effects and extended complications..........

Suprised not to see Hobbs name ? Just out of sheer minded curiousity, are you selecting any you have listed ?
Hobbs might find it tough to crack a crowded midfield set up initially but I’m sure he’ll get opportunities this year thru injury and Covid.

Ridley is in my line up at the moment!

Alpha, Beta and Gamma were the predominate variants up until that time of the article. Delta, and now Omicron, are milder. Very few reports of "long Covid" with these variants.

I find Ridley a tricky pick. Essendon seems to have better options for kick ins. The defenders scores vary a lot with free kick in points. At face value i couldn't select Rich, but then I see Birchall has retired and Rich has zero competition for kick ins. Long kicks. Free points. Its tempting.

Rich would definitely be a POD. Don’t think I have seen him in one team yet.
He’s getting on, but you’re right in that he has little competition for the ball in the back half for Brisbane. Plus Brisbane should have another good year.
