BigFooty - Scubaveg

My take on today's scratch match:

Zorko still not playing, appeared to be limping
Mathieson not playing second week in a row
Intensity picked up this week
Cockatoo played entire game
Rayner looked very good
Answerth looked best on ground
The crazy Jo show continued
Dev Robo and Harry Sharp played senior team
Prior and McFadden dropped back to reserves team
Payne looked a little more energetic this week
Tom Berry took Lyons after disposing the ball, Neal was upset with this a bit of remonstrating, McFadden then took exception with Neal
Blake Coleman look as very unfit and a long way off
Leaving the last sentence just here...

Any Adelaide fans got any insight into how Will Hamill is tracking and possible role?

3rd year of AFL, $233k defender.
17 games last year so the coach likes him.

Hamill has showed glimpses but the concern here is durability. He copped more concussions than one would like as well as a few other injuries. I am concerned with the competition for spots and the risk of them being careful with the slightest knock. Too many ifs and buts for me to go there.

Think I will have to roll with Coleman at D4.
I've had Sicily there but it hurts the team structure and takes out some mid super premiums to be replaced by 550k types.
The balance of my squad is improved with a Coleman or a Milera at D4.
Hopefully only need them for 6 - 8 rounds anyhow.
Coleman looks a safer bet for me.

I'm definitely hoping for more than a short stay! I'm only looking at those types if I think one of two things... keeper chance or really solid bet of making 200k. If I like both then that's a bonus :)

Obviously rookies dictate everything though, might still be a case where you need those types at D5 or even D6.

That’s an interesting call! Do you have him ahead of Milera?
I like Coleman more for a couple of reasons...

Role certainty - If he's not HB, I wont go near him, I know he should score well in that role.
Team - Better team is more likely to set and forget roles, not be experimenting.
Scoring to end last year - Was really solid and he looked fantastic doing it.
Durability - Perhaps the most important, Milera has been quite simply terrible in this area.

Having said that, Milera is also exceptional value if he can stay fit and play the right role. I can absolutely see myself going both. Think Coleman has slightly higher ceiling as the significantly better team will give him more freedom to do his thing and less constant pressure to defend not that that presented issues for North last year but we don't know Milera's role, that could also change.

Both really strong value for mine, no reason they can't do something similar to Impey/Hind/Jiath/Dale types last year, imo.

I also really like Rioli for the same reasons but he's a lot more expensive and right on that line of keeper being the requirement and I see them all as being more comparable to the above-mentioned that capped out in that 85-95 range rather than guys who should push into the 100s. You can probably carry one 90-95 guy, especially at Milera/Coleman's price but not sure you can keep either of those with a Rioli type in the same range. Especially when the likes of Whitfield and Sicily, who have genuine 105+ track records, are also available at significant discounts, not that I love Sicily right now just because I genuinely don't know how they fit everyone in, I don't think the Hawks will be good but I just can't see enough ball to go around.

Thanks, that makes sense re role and fitness.

I think I have Milera ahead at this stage, given Milera has shown that 85-90 scoring potential before over a stretch but ofc comes with the obvious injury risk.

I think I’d prefer to take neither if possible but early signs seem to suggest we may not have enough reliable DEF starter rookies
