Suspect some Essendon fans will need to dig through this to find out the useful stuff haha, suspect opposition supporters wouldn’t be keen to listen through a one hour Essendon podcast no matter how much of a SC tragic they are!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. That's why I posted the training report after - sorry didn't realise it had already been posted. Will give it a good listen later in the day and attempt summary of significant players.
I had a quick listen to first 30 mins or so.

@Shannon will be pleased to hear that J Kelly’s earlier comments about his positioning with Ridley at training to help Ridley “do what he needs to do up the ground” is confirmed via their preseason training.

D Shiel also having a good preseason, maybe one to watch but hard to fit in at that price

Yeah neither, Rowell or no-one at that price point for me. That being said I can definitely see Lipinski averaging 90-95.
I would take a 95 average and the 150K increase and a easy flip round 14. Five years in the system, starved for opportunity in his preferred role. I reckon he goes 100+ to the byes. Currently between him and Rowell at M5.

Might even run them both. Can still do it and get 11 keepers on the field.

The most important part of that article. Will be able to go back and watch games that you can't catch or want a second look at. Compared to some practice matches in the past that footage hasn't been able to be watched at a later date.

Brisbane v Adelaide aka the Coleman/Milera Cup!

Best performed out of those two in that match can sit in the team until the completion of the NAB Challenge matches.
What about Jake Bowey, looked OK during the finals series. Another preseason out of the way.

One to also consider.??

https://www.lions.com.au/news/1056336/what-you-missed-from-match-sim

It was a heated contest as the Lions match simulation took to Morningside last week.

The predicted best 22 donned the Maroon guernsey while the yellow team were handed a 20-point advantage to start proceedings.

There was no love lost between teammates as competition for spots intensified on Friday afternoon.

Deven Robertson and Harry Sharp were the latest additions to Chris Fagan’s Maroon side as he continues to play around with his best team.

Lachie Neale was lively from the first bounce, showcasing signs of what's to come with silky one-handed pick ups and rarely missing a target.

Cam Rayner continued to excite Lions fans, looking dangerous both in the midfield and in the forward line. Looking considerably stronger than he has previously, the 22-year-old broke tackles with ease and was clean on both feet.

Darcy Fort was impressive in the ruck, evenly matching his opposition in Oscar McInerney as they look to form a strong pairing going into the season.

Brisbane’s need for speed in the backline looks promising as Keidean Coleman and Noah Answerth both provided plenty of dash from the half-back line while Harris Andrews was solid as always.

Tom Berry was among the best-on-ground for yellow as he got under the skin of his maroon teammates with some heavy tackles and pressure. Cal Ah Chee and Jaxon Prior also provided plenty of spark.

Jimmy Tunstill was the best of the first-years and impressed with his efficiency by foot, finishing with a goal for his efforts.

Whaaaaat! I thought Brisbane only had one HBF, you mean they are going in with a left and right. may be similar to Gawn!

Seriously, do you go both or neither? Will be Saturday night game round 1, at least Sunday teams will be out.

Shiel makes an interesting bailout for the Rowell/Lipinski options.

Realistically if you want to play in that arena it's really important that you have a couple of really solid guys you're not taking as bailouts that don't need huge restructures to go for.

I would take a 95 average and the 150K increase and a easy flip round 14. Five years in the system, starved for opportunity in his preferred role. I reckon he goes 100+ to the byes. Currently between him and Rowell at M5.

Lot of opportunity cost in starting those 350k guys, start two of them and you're basically sacrificing a premium, so if they're not at least a slight premium chance you're basically adding two trades extra to your upgrade path.

I actually like Rowell and Lipinski, think both have potential to score big scores that make you more than 150k but if you're only getting 150k they're really only worth it if the rookies are really weak and you're essentially culling two guys that are going to be donuts instead of making 100k+ OR you think they can be keepers (I think both have reasonable cases for 110 scoring, fwiw).

You 100% can win it with those kinds of picks though, pretty sure last year's winner started Taranto who was neither a premium or made even 100k at any point in the season, there's definitely margin for error and the reality is that the safer points on the board can just help to settle you from irrational trades as well.
