Hopefully the Ben Simmons saga is coming to an end.

My 2 cents worth
  • I think he was unfairly blamed by the fans and the team for that loss in game 7 last year and I can understand his disappointment and reluctance to continue at Philly.
  • His withdrawal from the Olympics to “work on his game” was just a lie.
  • His withdrawal from the Olympics was also a big missed opportunity for him because it would have been so good for him to be in the Boomers environment and be exposed to the culture built by generations and carried on by Patty, Joe and the guys. Had he done that I suspect he finds some perspective and returns and plays for Philly from the start of the season and maybe last season is a distant memory.
  • What’s more, the international game actually suits him much better than the NBA. He could have player that creative, 6 10 point guard who is a tough match up offensively and great defender and wouldn’t have been relied on to score a lot (but suspect he would have).
  • His refusal to show up and play this season was petulant and un-Australian.
  • Brooklyn is a great result for him (and the Boomers hopefully) not least of which because Patty is there and hopefully will provide some wise counsel. However he also fits well into that team because he offers them something they don’t have, and they have plenty of what he doesn’t.
  • Finally I will watch with interest on how Harden works at Philly. It might be a case of carefully what you wish for because they wanted a guard that is willing to shoot and James has never met a shot he didn’t like. Admittedly he did dial it back a bit at the Nets compared to the Rockets where it was just ridiculous.
Ok maybe is was a bit more like 2 dollars…

Amazing talent, tiny heart and work ethic.

Textbook guy who is happy to coast on his natural ability but doesn't want to do the hard things or put the work in to improve. I mean I can't even blame him, has to be hard to push yourself to that level with that kind of money at that age. I'd love to say I'd be different but I'm not sure I would

I usually only bother watching the Mavs and occasionally LeBron (not this year) or GSW (not the last couple). If Kayo is showing the 76ers, I'm actually tempted to fire up a game or two because unlike many I actually enjoy watching Harden... and him beside Embiid could be great to watch.

I mostly just hope that the media stop constructing narratives to try and take Jokic's MVP from him, he's having one of the best seasons ever and somehow isn't even MVP favourite because for some reason missing two max players isn't factored into the teams lack of success.

Like Embiid is getting credit for what he's doing without Simmons, Jokic is missing effectively 2 Simmons from the roster and still has the team in the mix!

Not to knock Embiid, he's also have a fantastic season but he's with Giannis on a tier below the absolutely historic level that Jokic is playing at, it's hard to understate it but Jokic is having arguably the greatest season ever to put it in context. And he wrecked Morris, should get mad bonus points for wrecking that scumbag

Since it receives no coverage whatsoever in Australian sports media, I thought I would quickly note that Australian snooker player Neil Robertson has won his second Masters title this morning. He defeated Barry Hawkins after overcoming a final frame thriller against Mark Williams in the Semi Finals (see below) and defeating the GOAT Ronnie O’Sullivan in the quarter finals. He has now won at least one professional title in every calendar year since 2006 thus extending his streak to 17 years (21 career titles).

Another appearance in a major final for Neil Robertson tomorrow. Unfortunately this is not broadcast on Kayo but luckily for users of an active Sportsbet account they will be able to stream the final in app.

I usually watch some of the darts players championships/ euro tour through bet365 save paying for it.
Only trouble is they cut away before the winning outshot  (missed a Price 9 dart 141 out once )
Snooker is always on Eurosport or ITV though.

Well now we have a serious problem. Well at least a big chunk of beer drinkers have. A new hyper virulent strain of Covid has been identified in the Netherlands. The scientists have given it the code name...... VB.
