Genuinely still considering NicNat strongly at this point. Needs to show up in great shape for the preseason games but the way he finished last year was outstanding and the Eagles really need him to lead them and can't really afford to keep playing WAFL standard players to try and cover for him.

Averaged 120+ over the last 16 games of the season, scaling up basically each month of that 16 to a 127 average over the last month when he genuinely seemed to find the confidence that he is pretty good.

Still has limitations in that he doesn't do much outside stoppages but when you're that good at them it hardly matters!

I don't know how it's even possible that NicNat feels like the safest of the ruck picks right now

How does the ruck position always manage to twist us like this!

RK line is the only line I have not ajusted.

Grundy / Nic Nat / Hayes. Difficult to separate the first 4. Nic Nat gives me a POD.

Not having a bye in Round 14 adds to his appeal for me too.

Nah Herbie don't talk yourself into it :p

Pick your favourite $600k ruck for R1 then if you must, mess around from there.

I've just drafted a side that I actually don't mind the look of if Preuss gets up...
Preuss R2, Comben R3, Jackson F5 for 'insurance' (cos I'm not going this route without it).
Gives Whitfield D5 and Cogs as M4 behind 3 guns with all the rookies following. Big scoring potential and some solid flexibility
Surely have to have a look though πŸ˜€

Nah D , F & M change every day , Darcy & Big O locked away.

I think the XvY was something like:

Darcy, Ward (Hawks), Kid Coleman
vs
Whitfield, Preuss, Jackson

Would go option 1 if Preuss was no good and Ward looked like a must but to be honest, option 2 looks like a better side.
Darcy βœ“ Ward is getting talked up (yet to see any rookie not getting talked up in February though) , been keen on Kiddy since last season βœ“

Whitfield βœ“ (love how Cameron coaches his team with zero focus on SC scores πŸ˜‰) , can Preuss string 6-8 games together , if so it is no different getting him to a premium ruck than it is getting JHF & Daicos to a premium mid , if he stays fit and plays he probably averages considerably more than both of them)

Can Jackson get 95+ which would probably is at the low point for a F6 , if he is covering the ruck line who is your F7 ? (do we even have a playing F7 & F8 yet ? )

Was going to post, anyone thinking Dees might utilise their 2021 ruck strategy whereby Gawn played majority till rnd 7 avg 149pts, that saw them 7w 0l then reduced his minutes/increased Jackson

...then saw pic of Darcy thought frrk me sideways Lock!πŸ€£πŸ‘

Darcy will probably have that knee strapped for the vast majority of his career I wouldnt be too worried about that, looks significantly slimmer which is a good sign less weight hes carrying around the better for mine

I'd argue they could get to 7-0 just by increasing the use of Jackson, he did completely swing a Grand Final after all.

Is Bailey Williams worth a look at? Is he west coast second ruck and might be a good cover oldie preuss if his your R2… thoughts
As a 3rd tall and ruck back up, he may only make $50-100k. Think the few games he played his media return was 50 points form 80mins. Maybe he sees his time go to 100mins.

He has been talked about in this role so expect his JS should be ok if they don't have a significant alternative.

I personally would use Comben who I think will play fwd at North or Hayes if he is selected for Port.
