Where I'm at with the side at the moment, I'm conscious that the team might need a shake up if we need other rookies. I'm not totally sold on starting both Daicos and JHF, if we get a lot of cheaper rookies I may only start one of them, but given the lack of choices atm it's better to plan ahead.

Butters is probably the player I'm least sold on and I just prefer Thomas over him as a pick, but due to bye structure I'm sort of forced to go for Butters. I already have 6 players with that bye and Thomas would mean 7, unless there's an argument to be made that it will be easier to trade around bye structure this year with the extra trade.

Very light at the back in terms of uber premiums to accomodate the structure. Would ideally prefer Lloyd over Ridley, but it's a risk that appears worth taking. Lloyd will likely flatline at about 110, Ridley should go 105 with Kelly in and Heppell playing a bit more wing. Screen Shot 2022-02-15 at 4.16.25 pm.png

Here's the current iteration - as usual rookies are placeholders bar a few. $1,800 remaining
DEF: Gone lighter in terms of premiums, going for value over uber premium with a view to upgrade to Lloyd and Hall when they hopefully put in a poor game.
MID: you don’t want to get mid premiums wrong and I feel Macrae, Steele and Oliver are the safest of being top 8 mids and Neale value too good to ignore. Walsh was the only other one but his injury has made that choice easier
RUC: nervous leaving Gawn out but Jackson is too good to be leaving Gawn to ruck as he used to, so that’s enough for me to leave out big Max…just. No real bench coverage could be an issue.
FWD: Dunks and Duncs too attractive to ignore in the fwd line, but have the obvious role risks. Heeney and Butters value, Cogs and Curnow too much upside to ignore

Just having a sneaky look at Whitfield M4 with 4 (expensive) D rookies

Lloyd , Short , Sicily , Milera , Hinge , Reid / Gibcus , NWM *

Macrae , Titch , Neale , Whitfield * , Berry , JHF , Daicos , Ward / D Stephens , O'Driscoll * , Clark

Darcy , Big O / Comben *

Dunkley * , Duncan * , Heeney , Kiddy * , Cogs * , Curnow / SDK * , Hollands *

Leaves $ 3,300.00

Kiddy & Whitfield can swing lines depending on rookies Round 1

Although I guess Hinge , Reid , Gibcus , NWM could just be Erasmus or Hobbs

12 (incl Heeney & Sicily) - 5 - 13

Why not have both with an R/F at R3?
If Preuss is going to be a good enough cash cow in his own right to run on-field, then having Jackson as not only backup but also a potential breakout forward could be awesome...
Because you're shackling a maybe to another maybe. Now, not only do you need Preuss to work, but you also need Jackson to work.

... @NT.Thunder - Here's my Preuss/Jackson working theory.

Bench rookies are probably optimistic but it's an interesting take.

Interesting , but how does it work fixture wise ?

Melbourne play before GWS in the first 4 rounds so Jackson (F7) isn't providing any cover unless we know beforehand that Preuss is missing (I guess if Comben is playing he becomes the cover in any case)

6 onfield rookies + possibly 6 other upgrades

Don't mind it though

I really like how this looks with Preuss/Comben/Jackson combo - Cogs at F6 is

With Darcy news today (achilles issues are a concern), I am having real doubts on a viable R2 after Grundy so this option does have appeal...

I'm not picking either Preuss or Jackson if I don't think they work in isolation as picks.

I think Preuss may miss/rest some matches as they juggle ruck setup or as he battles fitness/niggles but I'm banking on knowing that before match day to make the swap. Maybe that's naive :p.

Either way, he might only need 2 price rises from playing 4 games to generate enough cash to stepping stone up.

How do you view Preuss v Curnow , find a extra $ 20k and just start Jackson at R2 instead.

Theoretically if Preuss is the # 1 ruck though at the Giants he could be the best cash earning rookie priced player we have , mind you is he even ahead of Flynn ?

With the Darcy news I might have to rethink my starting rucks in any case 😉

I think a fit, playing Preuss outscores a fit, playing Curnow. Bit I think the second is more likely to be reality :ROFLMAO:

That's food for thought, what I'd probably like to do is work DeKonig and Coleman in the forward and defender line so that there's some additional coverage should Pruess go down/rested and Jackson needs to swing in to the ruck.

Maybe something more like this - allows me to move TT - Duncan, Ridley to Jackson and Petracca to Macrae

Injury news for Darcy already is not good news - really want to set-and-forget rucks after being burnt one year experimenting.

Preuss-Comden-Jackson combo looks enticing but could be fool’s gold. Microscope on Preuss and Jackson/Gawn over preseason
