Always nice of them to do it in the preseason instead of cooking us in round 4

Score 1 to the anti-Hall crew!
My no old man philosophy excluded Hall but he was the first one I'd have considered picking; so I'm cursed either way; and Hall could return and dominate regular season or not, which means he's saved Hall pickers.

Anyone know if Will Kelly will be a viable rookie?
He has had a impressive preseason but his rd 1 chances I think are slim, I have been to a lot of training sessions and I would say obviously miochek and Cameron are infront of him and than it also looks like cox is going to get first crack and than Kelly is probaly on par with Kruger for the next best to come in, has been training as a forward all preseason could possibly get thrown back though depending how serious howes groin is

Cheers, I did think his ownership was a bit too high relative to his selection chances.

Hopefully we just park Cox inside 30m and get him to contest , mark or bring it to ground and get Checkers and Henry on their bikes up and down.

I have started Jack Crisp in the last 2 years, which have been quite successful from my perspective.

Not sure how I feel about Crisp playing a lot of midfield this year, but will follow his DT:SC ratio closely in the pre-season games.

Usually Crisp production is much higher when he plays midfield, but his efficiency drops and clangers increase at much faster rates, resulting in a slight net loss in SC average.

Docherty shock early return a bit of a spanner for him as they're kind of loaded down back for the rebounding types so he's basically got to be in the 3rd tall slot which all the talk was Gov would be filling.

Be very interesting to see how they line up the next couple of games for sure.

Kemp was used forward last match sim, but that could be because Harry was not playing.

McGovern first choice third tall back and JSOS first choice third tall forward. But he is right in the mix and because he can play multiple role can see him sneaking onto the last bench spot. But very shaky JS.

Kemp should be starting over half the duds Carlton pick every week to be honest, super talent that can play just about everywhere on the ground.
The only reason he hasn't started over those duds is injury. Recovering from the ACL in 2020 and then the syndesmosis meant he missed about 4 months from late Jan to late May last year. No VFL delayed his debut until round 22.

He likely would have played as the third tall in defence, if it wasn't for McGovern impressing in his role change. I was reading on BF (not sure of the rules re quoting) that they are keen to introduce him into the midfield, and build his time there as fitness allows. The best way to do that is via the forward line.

He has a real burst of speed for his size (now 195cm apparently), and the comparison in the BF post was to Fyfe's early days. The mix of talls will be interesting and Thursday's game against the Saints won't tell us everything, as Harry won't play. I think he can co-exist with Silvagni (Curnow and McKay certainties), as long as Jack is doing some relief rucking, and then Kemp is up the ground when Silvagni is forward.

In the same way they are keen to play Gov because he adds genuine speed (for his height), Kemp should be prioritised over slower players like Kennedy and even Silvagni.

Unsurprisingly, 70.3% of Jake Lloyd's score is made up of effective disposals, Jack Ziebell had him pipped for effective kicks though at 63.9% vs 57.9%. Harris Andrews relied on effective use of the footy the least amongst these defenders, with just 41.8% attributed to disposals

Andrews did rely on his marking and intercepts in particular with a quarter of his score each week gained from marks alone. Bailey Dale was the lowest notching up just 9.2% of his score from marks each week. (Side note: Jayden Short took just 1 contested mark in 2021)

Caleb Daniel was most prolific at ground level with 28.3% of his score generated from Ground Ball Gets each week. Jordan Ridley in somewhat of a surprise had the lowest ratio with just 13.2% of his score from GBGs

Jack Crisp loved a tackle with 13.7% of his score due to them, but he needs to clean them up a touch as he had the worst differential when it came to free kicks at -2.3% Tom Stewart was the lowest when it came to tackles at just 4.1% each week

There could be room for improvement in 2022 if Daniel Rich can stop turning it over, losing 21.7% of his score each week to turnovers. Harris Andrews had no such problems with turnovers accounting for just -8.0%, mostly due to his already low disposal numbers.

Jordan Dawson had the highest percentage of scores from other sources at 15.1%, mostly due to his 9 goals throughout the season. Tom Stewart might feel slightly hard done by, losing 6.1% through other sources.
