I would think it would be the same criteria as allocating DP at the start of a season. 35%+ time spent in the forward line over the first 6 rounds.
Is 35% an actual rule or just a guide? Surely Marshall would've hit 35% last year. Even when Ryder didn't play, St Kilda played a 2nd ruck in most games, plus he had a couple games where they eased him back from injury in the forward line. Yet no DPP. Petracca and Fyfe are two others who would've hit 35% forward time but no DPP.

On the other hand, Taranto only went forward in the last month and received DPP, and Coleman played one home and away match as a defender and also was given DPP.

These are only a few examples, I'm sure there are many more.

Look hard enough and you will find... English to me looks the answer for the R2 problem right now and definitely gives me a structure I much prefer going on.

Gawn still the only other option right now for me, Darcy probably needs about 170 to reaffirm any interest.

See for me it's to see if I can get a way to get 3 of the big 4 in (so that I can inevitably not pick the best one!), if I can get Sicily out that's an added bonus

That and I just want a way to buy time on Gawn, I'm pretty happy with my feeling that Gawn averages 112-118 this year and it just feels like lower than that is as likely or more to happen than higher than that, last year he started amazingly before the emergence of Jackson but after Jackson started eating into his minutes he averaged 113 for the rest of the season. Basically I like Gawn but I'd rather pay 100k less.

Darcy is impossible to trust. Durability problems, injured to end last year, two separate injuries, including one that is genuinely scary, in the last month. I'd really like a solid 6 weeks and happily pay more if he's a genuine 125+ guy, I like the player but the injuries start to get overwhelming at some point.

And as much as I like NicNat, I just don't think I can do it

Having said that the English, Marshall, Witts, Draper, Jackson and Flynn options kind of terrify me

Gawn has been in my side since Darcy's achilles issues so probably going to need something special to change that at this point but I can't say I love the pick. I feel like I've got 3 guys in my side in Sicily, Dunkley and Gawn for the wrong reasons  (will inevitably end up my only starting picks that don't fail!)
I succumbed to the temptation and put English in Nic Nat Position. Does open up some possibilities. Al reports on the site said he did look good around the ground.

will need to watch the replay of the match.

Curious for those thinking of English in the Rucks… why not pick him Forward? Surely the ‘big 3’ in the ruck outscore the top 3 Forwards? What am I missing?
Price

Aside from Dunkley I guess many are looking at the $ 450k+ forwards instead of the $ 650k+ Rucks

Agree, much stronger case for English to be picked in the forward line. Personalyl I just don't want 4 forwards from the same bye (Dunkley, Treloar, Heeney, English)

Am I the only one that expected this all along? Thought it was pretty obvious they'd do this and Cameron said words to that effect early in the pre season, still think theres potential that Preuss works at R3 Flynn was similarly in and out and made an absolute bucketload of cash from that 200k range that Preuss is currently priced at last year, Preuss will still have a massive ceiling in the games he solo Rucks IMHO, May very well still pick him at R3 if he plays well this weekend personally.
No. Quite a lot of us thought the same.

Other than Preuss, who do people have at R3?
Are there any potential playing ruck rookies?
Or are most just taking Comden for DPP or a cheap $102k non player for loophole?

I had no idea Engllish was a R/F - very interesting and I thought he was pretty good last night and had he clunked a few would've scored much better but as a FWD he really comes into contention. He does have a tendancy to get monstered by premium rucks which does worry me and he doesn't look like he's put a lot of size on. Will Martin play most games or be used as insurance?

I wish I could get another look at English, we all know rucks really can score at another level very easily and these guy has shown he does have a high ceiling hitting the double ton previously.

Anyone considered this tactic for rucks? Just appeared for me while i was shuffling a few guys around

Wasted on the bench, would be starting him on field ruck if I had that option and use the cash from one of Gawn/Grundy to improve other parts of my team. Would be good if they let you save and use that.

If he's going to get significant ruck time every week English becomes a really strong option. He just needs to commit to outworking less mobile opponents over 4 quarters like Martin used to before his tap work improved. Martin's not up to playing enough to hurt English's scoring much. Sweet could at some point if English doesn't do the job and there's always the chance Bevo goes with the some tall guy who can't ruck to save his life option in Gardner or whoever.

The main worry for me is that English will be be used as a forward again with Bruce out. The Bulldogs need someone to support Naughton and Cordy's not going to cut it. I think the other options are Tim O'Brien and Schache who's playing back at the moment. No idea what's going on with JUH.
