As I said, I am still undecided who is going to be my 2nd ruckman. Grundy, looks to me, the safest 1st ruckman selection.

I currently have Gawn and McInerney as my top choices for the 2nd ruckman.
I see Gawn as a safe selection, but am paying for what he is worth. He is $148k more expensive than McInerney.
I see McInerney, who is currently priced to average 94, will increase in price.

I'm waiting to see how many low priced Rookies are going to play round 1 before I make my final selection.
If I can use the $148k to upgrade a Mid-priced Player to a Gun, then McInerney I will select.
If the $148k is not needed, then I will select Gawn.

One reason I like both players, is that they are low injury risk players. I don't trust Marshall or Darcy.
I now currently have ROB! hahaha Definitely the hardest POS for me atm! UGH!

Worth noting that Chol hurt his hamstring also in the GC game, so Witts may be rucking one out come the real stuff for the first couple of games.

I don't love the pick but I don't hate it. There's value there, just not as much as you'd probably like.

I personally prefer English with legitimate keeper potential or Marshall if you're a big fan with some scoring at the level required and the right age profile to justify the leap.

Look hard enough and you will find... English to me looks the answer for the R2 problem right now and definitely gives me a structure I much prefer going on.

Gawn still the only other option right now for me, Darcy probably needs about 170 to reaffirm any interest.
Darcy attended 20 ruck contests won 11/20 (55%) i think he was cruising

Probably but doesn't change my personal need from him to bring him back! I really don't want a "easing my way through my only preseason game" approach from a guy with durability history who had multiple injuries in the preseason and is one of the most expensive picks in the game and has probably the best backup ruck not playing regular games and a very week KP group in the forwards to create a pathway towards that problem as well. I really needed an enormous "look at how fit I am" game from him.

For me I'm down to English vs Gawn for that spot as a starting pick, leaning English as it allows me to chase the value in the forwards better (I want English regardless, got him 3rd among forward premiums right now).

He was like that early last year and went bang! (i had meek r3) 💥

I hear ya, i think they said were managing some achillies soreness last few weeks but recent tweet from the club was he was solo rucking (might have read that in this thread or at honeyball?) early in season

I cant go anywhere near english....goes missing too often through a season after some promising numbers, and heard the call before.
Hope works for ya/back yourself in 👍

For the record i keep coming back to Gawn myself, he wants another flag 👍

The thing gnawing at me is Preuss at $200k i might want to catch a ride there/spew if i miss it

What are our thoughts on the Hawks ruck situation especially with McEvoy appearing to take up a key position spot forward.

Who’s going to be their number 1 ruck

Reeves is looking like the favourite for that position. Though I'm unsure of JS because Lynch was looking really good in the contests.

Reeves is almost surely going to get first go at it, Lynch seems unlikely for early matches, and I think will be more as back up if either get injured, or rested. Doubt all 3 play in the same team.

Longmuir had a Q & A session with the members today, here was 1 question :-

Why not play Sean Darcy and Lloyd Meek together and use our best two emerging ruckmen to give our midfield first use?

It’s about team balance and we play Sean in the ruck for about 80 per cent of the time and we’re looking for someone to come in and fill the 20 percent of game time in the ruck. Their secondary role has to be as a primary forward and we feel like Lobby is that player for us at the moment. Things can change though, we feel like ‘Meeky’ has really improved over the past couple of pre-seasons and he’s really challenging those guys for game time. I’ve been really impressed with the way he’s rucked over the pre-season and he’s narrowed the gap on those two. It adds to our competition for spots, which we have all over the ground at the moment.

80% ruck time …. Man, I just wish he wasn’t so prone to getting niggles so constantly 😔

The other 20% is in the medical room :)
