Reality is Horse has a defined role for Heeney and his football team and doesn't really give a flying **** about Heeney's SC points , but no doubt we will have another tiresome million posts about Heeney again this year (and next , and next , and next) 😀
One can dream that next years argument starts with the "Now that Horse isn't the coach..."

Reckon I'd take a 1 win season this year if you promised me a new coach next year!

Funnily enough, I'm the same for the team across town.
They're like my quasi second team and I agree entirely. Might be too late for them as he definitely cost them a couple of flags in my books. Tigers/Eagles fans should love him eternally though! Just like the Hawks (and Dogs) fans should love Horse almost as much as Clarko!

North Melb.
I didnt get a chance to see the Norf vs Swans game and I have noticed that T.Thomas has left a lot of peoples teams. Did he just play bad or did he have a really poor role?
Norf is a unacceptable disrespect term.

Can't believe Tim English has made his way into my forward line as F2 for the 1st time in the pre-season...

I guess that opens up the opportunity of selecting Darcy over Gawn.

Keen to hear some thoughts against English. Even if he goes at 88 again, is that really that bad as a F6 given he will be able to cover for Gawn/Grundy for COVID/injuries/bye rounds?

The only against for English I can have is if you're picking him for early season coverage as he'll be next to useless for the same reason that Macrae is so useful as a VC option, Dogs are locked out before you even have teams in several rounds and he'll be stuck forward in all but about 2 games of the fixture we know so he'll only be good for cover if you know your guy it out in advance.

The other negative is if the preseason role is fool's gold and he's forward again where he's overpriced not value. As the #1 ruck in that sweeping role he's a strong 100+ chance with scope to go higher if he can be just mediocre in the ruck.

Definitely want :-

Dunkley * , Heeney , Butters , Coniglio *

Now falling for :-

McGovern , Brodie * , Curnow , Xerri

Looks like I need to start 2 of Dunkley , Coniglio & Brodie as mids.

Rachele * will be on the F bench or M bench

I'm not sold on Rachele. He scored 3 goals and had heaps of tackles but still only scored in the 80's in both games.
If he doesn't kick goals he will likely score around 45 to 50 imo.
Have had the same thoughts all pre season but hes come out and scored both games now, think you primarily bench loop him and get the cash gen for the evitable 90s he can hit on a good day.

Brodie, Ralphsmith, Xerri, McCartin, DeKoning, Curnow all look just as good imo
So probably De Koning & McCartin as "real" rookie priced players which looks like I will need both in defence in any case.

Just wait for the teams then move the jigsaw around to fit the pieces.

Plenty of rookie names being thrown around , who knows who is viable or not after Round 2 , might be 3 correction trades coming up in Round 3 , or normally if I trade out a underperforming rookie early they come back and bite me

Gonna swerve Rachele. Feels too-owned for me and I think his scoring will be poor.

Heeney seems more like a trade-in target to me now. Look at him in 2H when Papley is back and he sees some time in the guts. Concerned about T.Thomas role too, so I’ve ended up with Bailey. I don’t hate it.

Think he will play a similar role to which he has played all his career in all honesty , forward , mid/wing and down back.

4 seasons of 94+ is long enough to establish a scoring pattern in his career

Wouldn't think he is ever going to be a in and under mid getting 35+ contested possessions a game player.
Yep, he's pretty much a top 10 fwd every year.
