This is McGowan's fault...

....even all the ankle injuries
Naitanui and some of the older guys missing is no big deal... they always have their workload managed and could be doing stuff away from the camera's inside.

I did hear the whole team was now training in moonboots though to try prevent ankle injuries, lol

BRISBANE captain Dayne Zorko is "pretty confident" he'll play Port Adelaide in round one after revealing he recently underwent a small procedure on his Achilles.

But in a big blow for the Lions, the club has confirmed exciting defender Keidean Coleman will be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks after the hamstring injury suffered last Friday night was worse than first expected.

Zorko missed pre-season matches against Adelaide and the Bulldogs and will get no further chances for match practice after the Lions decided against playing an intraclub this week.

On February 15, Brisbane said Zorko had a small problem with his ankle fixed, but the skipper clarified that on Wednesday.
"It was a minor procedure around the Achilles," Zorko said.

"The beauty about it is they were taking stuff out, not putting stuff in. It's a pretty easy job, pretty minor."

The 33-year-old has been running for two weeks and said completing sessions on Friday and early next week would dictate his immediate future.

He said the problem was on the opposite leg to a similar injury that hampered him in 2020.

It's more about making myself comfortable and feeling like I can play at that level and if I can't, so be it," he said.

"I'm pretty optimistic I'll be right. We've still got 11 or 12 days before I play. I should be able to rack up a few kms before then."

Coleman's loss is a blow after the club initially thought he might just miss a match or two.

He was one of the best players in Brisbane's 2021 finals campaign and seen as a perfect replacement for retired Grant Birchall.
Not sure if this has already been discussed, but who is looking the likely replacement for Coleman?

COLLINGWOOD recruit Patrick Lipinski is set to be available for selection for Friday night's season-opener against St Kilda, but Will Hoskin-Elliott has suffered an injury scare and will undergo a fitness test on Wednesday.

Lipinski trained fully at the AIA Centre on Monday after rolling his ankle against Greater Western Sydney in the AAMI Community Series.

The 23-year-old showed no signs of the injury that took the gloss off an eye-catching practice match performance against Hawthorn and is expected to make his first appearance in the black and white in round one.

Lipinski moved to Collingwood in exchange for pick No.43 last October in search of greater opportunity after playing 56 games for the Western Bulldogs.

Hoskin-Elliott sent a fright through the Magpies camp in a training mishap that brough a halt to a drill on Monday after the former Giant landed awkwardly taking a mark.

It is understood the 28-year-old has tweaked his hip and groin but escaped anything serious, after being taken inside by a trainer.

The club is confident Hoskin-Elliott should still be available to face the Saints if he can complete training on Wednesday.

Collingwood is set to regain vice-captains Taylor Adams (hamstring) and Jeremy Howe (groin), as well as Brody Mihocek (illness) and Isaac Quaynor (concussion) to start a new era under Craig McRae, after they all missed the trip to Giants Stadium for the final tune-up of the pre-season.

The Magpies will be without key defender Jordan Roughead (shoulder), off-season acquisition Nathan Kreuger (concussion/suspension), utility Nathan Murphy (ankle) and mature-age rookie Charlie Dean (foot).

Murphy was in line to plug a hole in a defence that was made weaker following the decision by Irishman Mark Keane to remain home, but the luckless swingman is set to miss the next two months after undergoing surgery to repair the ankle he dislocated against the Giants.

After a blistering start to his first pre-season at Collingwood, father-son recruit Nick Daicos is set to be unleashed for his long-awaited debut against St Kilda.

The No.4 pick from the 2021 NAB AFL Draft is one of the clear favourites for this year's NAB AFL Rising Star award alongside North Melbourne young gun Jason Horne-Francis after amassing 31 disposals against Greater Western Sydney earlier this month.

How many would Macrae/Oliver/Gawn have to make as VC to not have a crack at Touk in the last game? 150? :ROFLMAO:
Was contemplating this earlier today! I'm actually considering not going anyone from the first game just to give myself a chance at that real monster score I'd be wanting to lock in.

Watch Touk now go 95 and Rowell 160 :ROFLMAO:

I'm certainly not suggesting that'll happen but pre-season scores really go out the window in 2 days.

So, Rowell's poor performance last year wasn't due to his lack of confidence, or the major mental obstacles, after his knee surgery and shoulder injury. Or that he struggled to get a touch because he played a very outside game and looked scared of the contest. Hmmm, it's because he had Osteitis Pubis.

Apparently, Osteitis Pubis recovery is rest, the worse it is, the longer the rest (can take a few months), followed by a rehibilitation program, to play sport again. Based on the fact that Rowell played last year with the injury, indicates to me that it couldn't have been too serious, therefore needing less rest before starting the rehibilitation.
Rowell's last game, in 2021, was 21st. August, that says to me that he had a good rest, was rehibilitated by a sport professional and completed a good pre-season, judging by his good pre-season games.

Based on my unconfirmed logic, he looks like a safe bet to start in my team.

I've had OP, it's one of those weird injuries that you can play through and actually isn't "painful" but it's incredibly limiting.

I'd liken it to playing with two significant ankle weights on, you can't run fluidly, you can't kick properly, your balance/core strength is just off. If you're lucky, and I was, rest will heal it up, I never had it again after that season, just started doing ACLs instead , but I definitely went into that season unfit and paid the price, can definitely buy that Rowell after his injuries just didn't have the fitness and that's where it was exposed.

The concern of course is that it's a notorious injury for making a return, just ask Elliot Yeo how his last couple of seasons have gone with it unfortunately, and realistically while Rowell can work on 10 games, you're picking him hoping for 22 at a quasi-premium level.

Just looked at the Eagles website and their player list is genuinely hilarious. You get down to Joyce and he's got a Lions jumper, Dixon in Freo is a standout, Naish in Richmond and then Willie Rioli in a jumper from about 3 years ago finish by Strnadica not even getting a picture!

If the majority of their fans weren't such intolerable types I'd almost feel sorry for them

Believe me when I say we've got pretty much all the good Eagles' fans on here!
