Even with Witherden to return, do you think there’s still a spot somewhere in the 22 for him ?
Yes - they played together in the last preseason game.

The other big thing is Hough's flexibility - can be deployed in multiple positions. In his junior career he played half back/ half fwd/wing no issues, so could see him playing different positions if required to cover outs on other lines.

Thanks mate, atm I have $20k to spare so JS is more important to me.
Looks like Durdin is the smarter play (y)
Beautiful 👌🏻
Along the same line of thinking when it comes to the bench this year
Have done Gibcus d7, Stephens m9 and durdin f7 for js reasons. Feel having them creates a bit of stability for Covid outs and also will help with cash gen. Lots of the cheap guys don’t fill me with a huge amount of money making confidence!

round 5 onwards the WCE draw gets hard just as Darling and Allen are both back (Allen maybe earlier). 50 for 4 rounds is feasible.
Guessing you're not taking him? Wait so why does he have close to 40% ownership?

Anyone else from WCE that can make decent cash and is below $120k?

Was somewhat keen on Kelly after seeing him take a few kick-ins at training.

But it appears that Kreuger is only 1 week away, Roughead is only 4-5 weeks away, Dean comes back midseason, Howe is already back.

Feels like Kelly has 3 hurdles...

(1) Selected as the lockdown KPD ahead of Howe
(2) Play well enough in round 1 to keep Kreuger up forward (probably the easiest hurdle since Kreuger was brought in as a forward)
(3) Retain his spot as a 3rd tall defender alongside Howe when Roughead returns round 4/5

Feel like all 3 conditions need to be met sequentially for Kelly to be a successful cash cow... I think I will pass
1) Howe is not a "lockdown KPD" and never really has been, too short for the role and does the third tall defender / intercept marker thing too well. Madgen (vomit) is the "lockdown" defender they'd go with if it isn't Kelly.

2) Kreuger is staying up forward, the club is excited about his attack on the ball and his ability to roam up towards the wing as a hit-up target coming off half back.

3) Err, did Moore disappear somewhere during the past couple of weeks.

Overall if Kelly is named all you're looking for is a 3-6 week cameo, and if he falls short of that initially then he's still useful as a DPP pivot with SDK if required. Doesn't look like he will be now for round 1 though if the reports are correct.

Hey @Shannon or @GrainFedBeef is there any chance Strnadica plays this week? Happy if he doesn't because I will use him to loop Macrae. Have other loop options but prefer Strnadica. Thoughts appreciated.
I would be very surprised, only just returned from injury. Bailey Williams will be the 2nd ruck/ Dixon should play & can help out in the ruck so I don’t see why he would get picked.

Howe is not a "lockdown KPD", but he 100% has played that role in periods across recent seasons.

I still vividly remember him playing against Darling vs West Coast in 2017/2018 and would just get dominated in that lockdown role over and over again. Might be a Buckley thing, but Howe has also played against the likes of J Roo and other smaller KPFs in a shutdown role, which is why you often see a huge volatility in his scoring.

Madgen, well I don't know what he is. He shouldn't be playing AFL, probably shouldn't even be playing VFL.

3) - not sure what you mean, the previous discussions were based on Moore being the #1 KPD, when Roughead returns, Howe and potentially Kelly will play in that 3rd tall role.

We have tried to play him in that "lockdown" role out of desperation with pretty much nobody else left but it's not a role he played successfully then and especially not now. He just doesn't play "tall" enough to lock down anyone.

(cut - not worth harping on about something which wont happen)

You specifically wrote this:

That kinda implies a Roughead, Kelly and Howe combination, which is why I mentioned Moore?

Apologies if that's not what you intended.
