The positions were accurate for the AAMI game and yes, the team sheets are in essence meaningless once the game starts, but if Xerri is there as the on-ball ruck I think he'd start the CBA.

I don't know why we would try a game plan twice in the preseason only to completely throw it out come round one (unless it was dreadful, which it wasn't). So if Noble sticks to his guns we should hopefully see Xerri ruck 60-70% with Goldy the rest.

And CCJ should stay parked 20m out, directly in front, with instructions to go nowhere near any ruck contests (please oh please!)

Maybe it was as simple as given Xerri ruck time to see if he can perform in the role if something unfortunately happened to Goldy.

Pretty simple for me, if Xerri is named as the ruck, i'll pick him. If he's named on the bench, I move on.

Team sheets are not the gospel, but they do provide some level of indication for most teams.

On the Xerri discussion, from a football point of view it makes so much more sense to have Xerri as predominant ruck.

He turned 23 two days ago and can be the future of North ruck stocks for years to come in a growing young team. Goldi is there for mentoring and experience, but in a team that is probably more focused on development and improvement in their young team, I don't see the benefit in not providing Xerri with that valuable ruck time.

The words sense and supercoach rarely go hand in hand though ...

Giving serious thought to dropping one of my expensive rookies now the 117k options are appearing...

Owens I see lasting 3-4 weeks at most until Billings comes back, also have Zac Jones to come back in but that timeframe is unknown. We have a lot of fringe players that could easily come in for Owens. He will be a forward pocket type player initially, a 30-40 score would not surprise me. That and very shaky job security, hard pass.

Just on that note, do you see NOD from Freo playing this season? How many games? Are we aiming for mid-season when injuries occur or?

So why not just put Goldy in the VFL and give Xerri the responsibility and pick CCJ/Comben as the back up ?

Is Goldy a "clock face" ruckman or does he just have his 2-3 main hitting zones ?

Yes I see him playing games. When - impossible to know. Too many variables in play. He's probably in discussions to play this weekend.

No idea what Gibcus' JS is like, not even that concerned so much with his scoring potential but a dead rookie at $171k on a line bereft of them is not ideal. Add Hinge with his shoulder being problematic and I can't rationalize starting more than three.

Agreed. Having 3 people trying to fill 1 space feels a lot safer than 4 trying to fill 2

I was thinking about culling JHF to a 117k rookie, all it got me was Hewett to Whitfield. When I compared the changes, I thought Hewetts a decent chance of outscoring Whitfield when taking total games into account, and JHF is a very good chance to make more money than his cheap replacement despite the price difference and the fact that I have much lower expectations of JHF than most.
