I am actually strongly considering Shiel as I am in a position where I have to field guys like Rachele/Stephens. 2 games, 2 tons, no Merrett for 5-6 weeks, proven scorer in the past. Was All Australian in 2017, runner up B&F in 2020, happy to punt with Shiel and hope he keeps punching out decent scores in the short term, stepping stone to a fallen prem when Merrett is back. Missed the boat with the other mid pricers, this option could be a nice POD.
Great minds frosty lol..................I missed your post re: D Shiel

Not crazy at all imh

Anyone looking @ Dylan Shiel.................after just 2x games this year he's looked good I thought.............and could be close to his 2020 year which wasn't too shabby.

Currently a reasonable $361K..............paltry BE of 13x and a suggested increase of $30K next round...............and Adelaide @ home coming up.

Nice little smokey maybe ????

Never really been a fan...........lol.............so I just might trade him in..........:p

Last year I was having similar thoughts with Heppell who was mid priced at $320k, was umming & ahhing for days and decided to not go ahead with it, in the end I was kicking myself as he was a great stepping stone, got to $520k by his Bye round, I can see similar happening here with Shiel.

Same here quarters................but I actually put Hepple in last season................that half back role for him last year just looked ripe....................and 1x of the few that paid off 'OK'.

D Rioli is this years gamble...............not too shabby so far

Good picking mate

I agree it is not ideal. But in the case that Martin must come in, sometimes it is a case of someone has to go out to facilitate it.

In the senario that the rookies abailable for trading are:

Hinge, McCartin, Gibcus, De Konig, JHF, Dacios, Ward, Stephens, Durdin, Hayes, Rachele

Who has to do if not Rachele?
Why does it have to be a rookie?

stephens if dropped, or anyone else if dropped, if no one is dropped then rachele makes most sense yes

Because Cameron has rotated his Rucks consistently for 2 or 3 years, and Flynn was very good in the VFL, think its a near certainty to continue when Preuss is coming off an interrupted pre season and terrible historical durability aswell, common sense to manage his body through a 22 game season.

Did some research into Preuss regarding his poor durability :-

2017 - played 8 games in total, rounds 1 through to 4 & rounds 19 through to 22. So both times a block of 4 games in a row

2018 - 0 games played

2019 - played 7 games in total, rounds 4 & 5, rounds 16 through to 18, another game in round 20 & a final one in round 23.

2020 - played 3 games in total, rounds 12 & 13, another one in round 16.

2021 - 0 games played

That is some injury record.... a maximum of 4 in a row in his career so far & that was way back in 2017, big risk to lock him in at R2 with no long term cover (if you have English in the fwds that you can swing up through Hayes at R3 for example then maybe...) along with Cameron's rotational ruck policy as you mention.

I do feel the more prudent approach is to be patient, see how he goes v Freo this week & see if Flynn is picked/ if so, how much does that hurt his scoring.

Obviously we need to take some risks to get ahead in this game but not reckless ones, brave coach to take Preuss as your R2 with no adequate cover - I really don't think we can back his body in given that record. I think a conservative approach with him is the right move, I would feel more comfortable with him at R3 as a cash cow than fielding him incase he did go down early in a game which he has done many times in his career so far. With Ryder now back fit, Hayes maybe in trouble so a Hayes > Preuss trade to take the R3 spot appeals to me next week depending on their performances on the weekend & team selection.

Agree - gotta wait the second week on Preuss but I will be tempted if Stephens is dropped.

The absolute worst result would be a Preuss injury this weekend where you go early. If you wait, the potential future injury score would suck but at least he’ll have made some cash.

I think so. I'd get it if Lloyd was shooting out the lights but a 102 and 104 in his first two games doesn't scream must-have to me.

I don't think burning a trade and 44k seems worth it at this point.
Thanks mate. I’ve got 200k burning a whole in my pocket 😆

do you guys think its worth itto invest into a 102k dpp loophole?
I used a trade boost for that, currently don't have a loophole option and at least I have 1 keeper now...

also imo preuss is an amazing r3 and the best way to get him is to trade out Jack Hayes (if everything is right then he may be at a higher price than preuss)...with preuss at r3 we can afford to go someone like witts or luke jackson instead of an uber premo like gawn or darcy. Just my opinion though

Was it all injuries though? I seem to recall some pretty serious js issues along the journey.
