All Bulldogs look attractive with their upcoming fixture. Given his price he is right up there - I just wish I knew if he was about to get forward status?
DPP would mean he's up there as a top 8 Fwd, the thing that worries me is his low floor, but I'm looking at either him or Walsh as my M8 (although Jelly is firming for that spot right now) I'll possibly bring in Steele next week, Clarry is on the radar for a week or two down the track which would leave me with the last spot to fill in the Mids, wondering whether I should lock him in early?

Team dynamic wise, I think Williams will come in as the number 1 ruck - it is his chance now to be the main ruck. Strnadica I believe has to build fitness back up after coming back from injury, not sure how long that will be. Waterman would be the one to make way for Allen, he hasn't been able to cement his spot despite all the outs which is disappointing. Allen will not be risked in the ruck anymore, way too valuable as our next key forward for the next decade. When fit, I think Allen & Darling will be the 2 key fwd targets that play each week - JK I expect to have regular rests, especially for away games. Williams & Dixon can both play as key fwds along with rucking/ we have often played 3 tall fwds in the past so even when JK plays I can see room for both Dixon & Williams in the team.
The thing that really surprised me with Dixon was how good he was at ground level when in the ruck late in the game, no doubt that would of really impressed Simmo which adds further to his job security.
What is your read on the situation now that Waterman has been omitted without Allen returning?

I was keen to trade in Dixon for the ruck role with no Nic Nat, but he seems to be behind Williams in the pecking order. Will Allen just replace Dixon now?

Hinge > O'Driscoll leaves me $382k in the bank.

Not sure if this too early to start shopping for upgrades, but I still dont have Heeney.

Have I missed the boat now?

You haven't missed the boat but imo would rather English over Heeney since Heeney will play a lot more forward

I'm not so worried about Bazlenka's floor as a FWD though because we know he can and most likely will go 120+/130+ in some games to o***et the quiet ones.

I just dont see how JJK,Allen,Darling and Dixon all play in the same side, especially when Allen can play the 2nd Ruck role and is a miles better forward right now.

Would love for someone to convince me otherwise as Dixon being a valid cash cow option would be pretty handy.

Have had a manic day at work and have missed most of team news

Hinge managed? Assuming lingering injury
Gibcus Managed? Rookie loads, back in next week?

Latest thought is Gibcus - > D Rioli (should have just started him)

Could be waiting half the season for a downgrade target to appear for Gibcus.

Means fielding one of Hinge , McCartin , SDK each week.

Next round Curnow/Xerri - > Preuss and look at Pendles v Dawson , Hall , Lloyd , Stewart types

Was looking at bringing in premium mids but as long as Berry , Brodie , Rowell keep scoring well enough and rising in price may as well keep them their and upgrade elsewhere.

DPP additions though could change everything.

Still think the Bont is about to explode but can't have everyone.

As for Grundy he looks clumsy , disinterested & unco.

Game time was always going to be low given the team sheet , if Cameron is out for a extended time things might improve.

Bailey J Williams might not be actually as bad as a option as people think 😀

Yeah I’m just not sure if Dixon is worth the risk.

He could have a quiet game over the next fortnight and then suddenly he’s on the chopping block for Allen.

Allen will no longer be rucking - Simmo stated that, way too valuable as our main young key fwd for the next decade.

In the past we have played Darling/ JK/ Allen in the fwds along with NN & Williams as 2nd ruck/ fwd (part of rotations).

JK was very close to not playing last week v pies but played because of our lack of options, we are getting players back now so expect him to be rested often especially on away trips.

Dixon is competing with Bailey Williams & Luke Strnadica - 2 of those 3 play each week for the next 12 weeks NN is out. Jack Williams is the other ruck/fwd on the list but is nowhere near ready as evidenced by his 1 possession game v North in round 2 - very skinny/ raw.

Dixon is ahead of Strnadica & B Williams as the 2nd ruck resting fwd as has played key fwd most of his career/ only added the rucking recently. His fwd craft has been solid, Simmo even stated in the practice game v Freo he was our best player. Presents well/ hits the packs hard with strong hands. Worked hard on his fitness which was the knock on him when on Freo’s list.

What has been a huge pleasant surprise was his ground level work when playing in the ruck. He was huge in the last quarter v pies, was a real factor in why we won.

In summary, I see B Williams & Strnadica competing for the lead ruck role with Dixon clearly ahead of all others having the back up ruck/ key fwd - he is far better/ more accomplished playing key fwd than Strnadica & B Williams so is the ideal 2nd ruck.

WCE as a team have traditionally played tall (often too tall in my opinion) Simmo’s argument being Darling & JK are very athletic for their size, obviously JK is slowing down with his age but Darling still has that athletic ability.

Personally see Dixon getting plenty of games if he continues to maintain his current form.

Thanks for your thorough commentary.

What do you think of Bailey Williams as an option? His JS looks good, but can he score at an 80+ level for a few weeks?

With the 96 in his scores he'll make enough over the next couple of weeks for those who got on him at the bubble, but longer term he'll be a handy bit parts player / bench loop who has played well enough imo to get games later on in the year even if he gets dropped now.

In cricketing parlance he's probably first drop with regards to who comes in now if one of the KPF's gets injured or is out of form and Nic Nat being out for 6 weeks doesn't hurt his chances in the short term either. Nothing like making an impression in your first few games to stick in the mind of the selection committee I reckon.
