Did a double upgrade last week with Rowell > Macrae & Bowey > Docherty, seriously looking at trading Grundy this week (already have Preuss) to B Smith and Ward to Rosas, would give me enough funds to get Clarry in next week at the expense of McCartin with JHF going to Hobbs. Keeps the cash gen going and essentially gets me 2 premos at the cost of moving Grundy. Hopefully Cripps is back this week which would be like a double upgrade. After next weeks trades my end lines would look like this......

D4 Ryan, D5 Daicos, D6 Noddy
M7 Cripps, M8 Martin
R2 Preuss
F5 Cogs, F6 Xerri

Considering something similar although trading out JHF this week and Xerri next week.

This week:

Out - Hall, Rowell, JHF
In - Witherden, Mills & Rosas

Tried to make Steele work instead of Mills, but the cash difference helps me out with my plans for trades next week, being:

Rd. 7 Trades.

Out- McCartin, Xerri, Ward
In- Hobbs, 117k rookie, Oliver

*Need to swing a few DPP's here to make it work, like O'Driscoll heading back for McCartin etc. Also might look to make my 117k player a ruck/forward donut loop (Benning perhaps) if Hayes looks like getting a run of games and playing regularly.

Leaves my team end lines looking like this:

D4 Ridley, D5 Daicos, D6 O'Driscoll
M7 Cripps, M8 Martin
R2 Preuss
F7 Coniglio, F8 Hayes

So my two locked in trades are JHF and Rowell to Preuss and Rosas.

The last trade is up in the air, I can cull Rachele for Macrae or Ward for Steele or Stephens/Gibcus/Macdonald for Brayshaw/Laird?

Rachele is currently on field so culling him would mean NOD go on field instead of Rachele. The others are all bench options and would push NOD to the bench.

All last year I was waiting for Hall to get injured and backed against him and, of course, he played the whole year. This year I said “don’t be stubborn” and chose him over Hewett when I traded out Whitfield as I wanted to be sure I was side swapping to a ‘real’ premo. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t 😒
I did the same thing, and Hall averaged less in my team that Ridley 🙄

Carrying over a fair bit of cash so thinking something along these lines:

Some interesting combinations for those many dollars.. couple of the players I like are (in no particular order):

Walsh
Oliver
Steele
Smith (Bailey)
Mills
Parish
Parker
Pendlebury
Zorko

Can do 1 uber and 1 cheapie, or two "medium" types. Probably leaning towards an uber and then Smith/Parker.

If I do Rosas instead of Preuss I can get Oliver/Steele + Walsh which is also might temping! But Preuss feels more must have than Rosas.

Luke Parker has added DPP, appears to have had an OK role the last game or two, is cheap and his price allows a sighter prior to committing to bringing him in.
In anyone's plans?
Edit: Was only back in a better role last game , cf also Feerits Elf comment below.
The Swans kids are going past him.

I did look at this option but not sure I want to carry $400k+ for 2 rounds in a row, especially as last round I really noticed the lack of points between the cash and holding Cripps. Feels like a good week to grab 2 premiums, especially with some potentially good downgrade options on the horizon in Hayes/Hobbs.

I reckon Xerri might be handy to hold through to his rnd 14 bye (was going to be JHF), similar with Daicos, so a double upgrade going into rnd 14 to finish the team is my thought, although if opportunities present before then I will certainly look at them

Don't know how your team structures up but if you can build a kitty by getting playing rookies in order to fund rolling upgrades I would do that rather than blow your load on 2 premiums this week.

Rosas has scored consistently, good role and good JS. What if Hayes/Hobbs is injured or returns a 35 in Rd 6? There's one of your potentially good downgrade options cooked. Preuss/Rosas/premo + cash is the smart option, you're just seeing 2 premos and your eyes are lighting up

Haha look.. I won't deny the eyes are lighting up when I see Ward off the field and some strong scoring coming in! Definitely food for thought though..

Can someone articulate why these trades are madness: Grundy, Ridley, JHF to Gawn, Docherty and Rosas?

Grundy - was averaging 110 before that game on the weekend, has a great record vs the bombers too. Just about every premo will have at least 1 bad score and you can't always trade them because of it. Was only 2 weeks ago everyone was trading Gawn and now look.. a fortnight is a long time in SC, and spending 100k with no guarantee of improving your team is madness.

Ridley - 100% understand trading him, role looks awful, body language and movement is just as bad.

JHF - can also understand the trade here, but his role is terrible so you could easily justify a hold for another week or two.

Gawn - looks like he is back but can't justify a Grundy trade to get him in.

Docherty - coming off his worst score and at $575k that is super expensive for a defender premium. Should be plenty of value plays during upgrade season, and all it takes is another sub 100 score and you can get him at a big discount. Don't like him at his current price.

Rosas - the buzz rookie downgrade outside of Preuss. Frees up some cash but with his role he doesn't look like an onfield rookie, especially given the forward options are in abundance!

Personally I would:
- Hold Grundy
- Trade Ridley to someone in a similar price bracket (or cheaper) - maybe a Pendles/Zorko type down back, or a Bailey Smith type in the mids. If you are going to spend $575k upgrading Ridley I would grab Mills or Parish (via Daicos DPP to the backline).
- JHF to Rosas is a gut feel call and probably depends on your upgrade plans next week. Carrying $200k into your trades next week can't hurt but like I said, I think you can mount an equally strong argument for holding or trading JHF this week so it comes down to personal preference there. I would do the trade though.

All up 2 trades, keep your boosts, and do a premium correction and rookie downgrade to target an upgrade next week.

Cheers that makes a lot if sense.
