I am a bit surprised something like this hasn't happened before now. Seems a system that would be very easy to abuse, where the umpires know the result of the bet with 100% certainty. Guaranteed money if you are even slightly dodgy.

Surely they take a more 'GWS' approach, who had built and sustained their list really well compared to GCS.
I would be surprised if the Tassie team was in before 2026 imo. Agreement not fully reached, and they'd then need at least 2-3 years to build and develop their coaching team, facilities etc.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see a few marquee players signed and named early, who then play out their seasons at their current clubs, which we haven't seen much of before in the AFL.

AFL hates byes because they don’t get the revenue from another game per round, so think this will all be followed pretty closely with a process/announcement for a 20th team.

They'd just do away with the current bye structure and have teams on rolling byes like the VFL and other leagues currently do?
An extra team playing games is going to generate a lot more revenue anyway.
$12mil per year from Tassie govt to start with.

I believe they’ve snuck it up to 23 games per team next year as well (for some reason the “magic round” couldn’t just be one of the existing rounds …). Could be 230 home and away games pretty soon, up from 198 currently.

Good on you Zimmer, hope you are keeping well. With most of us delaying our preseason to play BBL, you could inadvertently be one step ahead!

The debut season culminates with the most wonderful time of the year … PDC World Championships. Live on Kayo from 6:00am this Friday until the 4th of January (with a break over Christmas Eve to Boxing Day (UK)).

The second round matches have been completed with the remainder of the tournament to continue after Christmas. One Australian remains in Damon Heta and he faces Joe Cullen on the 29th of December at 6:00am AEDT.

Nathan Aspinall VS Josh Rock- 28th December- Approx 12:50am AEDT
Gerwyn Price VS Raymond Van Barneveld- 28th December- Approx 7:20am AEDT

Unfortunately Damon Heta lost all four sets to Joe Cullen this morning, which means no Australians are left in the tournament. Aspinall VS Rock lived up to expectations but unfortunately Price VS Van Barneveld was a fizzer.

Much to our surprise, Mensur Suljovic has given us the highlight of the tournament so far.
