Martin Lukeman:
A great year on the tour meant no concerns in losing his tour card. Qualified for a few of the televised majors such as the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix and Players Championship Finals, with a quarter final run at the Grand Prix. A 42% checkout percentage over the past twelve months bodes well for a potential matchup against Schindler in the second round and a berth in the third round at his World Championship debut.

Andrew Gilding:
The cult figure returns to the Alexandra Palace after a six year absence. Third time lucky at Q School for Gilding in 2021 and has taken full advantage of his second year on the tour. A superb year making three players championship finals but losing all three by the margin of six legs to eight. Very consistent and has the all round game to trouble everyone in his section of the draw.

Top 20 over the past twelve months in both average (94.98) and checkout percentage (40.86%).

Ryan Joyce:
Third on the checkout percentage (42.55%) over the past twelve months in what shapes to be a belter of an opening match against Scott Williams, with the winner to face Rob Cross.

Scott Williams:
Winner of a Players Championship event, topped the Challenge Tour Order of Merit with four titles along the way and made the last 16 of the Players Championship Finals, all without a tour card. Seventh over the past twelve months for total 180’s and expect a significant amount of his bonus points to come from the maximums.

I thought Rock would end up as the most popular captain, but didn't expect everyone else to captain him. Only one with a pink VC too. I did try picking a few unique picks, but maybe I should have stuck with the crowd a bit, at least through these first few rounds.

He’s been fed down everyone’s throats on this thread the past couple of months. Doesn’t necessarily make it right that we have all captained him though.

My decision, like I’m sure many, comes down to my belief that his all round game of power scoring and solid finishing should be enough to see off Justicia and Rydz.

That may be right, but he could slip up, or your choice in Whitlock may play longer games, and therefore have more opportunity to score periferals.

We will soon find out. No doubt a couple of players will outscore him. It’s just choosing the right one.
