I agree I don’t think we need to boost this round.
In terms on trade ins, I think we prioritise Mujeeb, Kerr and Philippe.

Mujeeb - playing at BA I think he could score on and a low BE means it’s good timing.
Kerr - negative BE, get him while we can in case he pops again and becomes too expensive.
Philippe - ~45 BE, likely to hover at the same value but is a lock in terms in players we’d want so means we have that one out of the way.

I’d put forward:

Steketee to Kerr
Swepson to Mujeeb
Tye or Rashid to Philippe

Assuming DPP swings make that possible..

Abbott and KRicho have high enough BEs to wait a week to get both. Means we have longer to debate the 6 (or boosted 7th players.
Sounds logical to me

That would give us :-

Philippe / Handscomb
Hosein (if DPP) , Kerr
Abbott , Mujeeb , K Richardson / Connolly

for DGR 5 so far

Gives us a chance to look at everyone's else price & BE at the end of Round 3 to workout the extra trade option(s) for Round 5

I quite like these trades and definitely agree this is a good week to strongly consider BE's with our trades, as we'll likely be holding these players for at least two rounds, rather than potentially just the one. Still a bit of a wait on seeing the remaining game results, but I wouldn't mind if we end up with these - Kerr is in super form, Mujeeb will have at least one big game soon, and Philippe is going to be in practically every team for Rd 5. I think these trades should still get us a decent on field team (will require one BAT/BWL to swing to the bowling line), but will work that out tomorrow night.

Still happy to hear any alternative options of course. :)

Based on

Steketee - > Kerr
Rashid/Tye - > Philippe via Short (for example)
Swepson - > Mujeeb

I think it would look like this for Round 4 :-

Inglis / HANDSCOMB

Sams * , Shadab * , PHILIPPE , Neser * , Hales / Stoinis * , Webster

Short * , Rashid or Tye , KERR * , HOSEIN , MUJEEB / Zampa , Connolly *

Obviously swing the DPP players around

CAPITALS = DGR 5 players

^I like the trades and thought process on the above. I’ll hold fire on the poll for now in light of that and the tight timing for @Ironhawk tomorrow.

If we lock and load on those, perhaps the next poll is focused on R5 ins, to round out our DGR complement 🙂

Round 4 Scorchers play Strikers at Optus Stadium. Any thoughts on how that impacts Rashid? My first thought was it might be better to hold Tye of the two?
Rashid 2 wickets in 3 games at Perth Stadium, which is below par, but ER of 4.25.

Against Perth 13 in 9, and 6.33.

Tye in Perth 21 in 13, 7.1.

Tye vs Strikers 12 in 11, 7.89.

I'll be around post game tonight and tomorrow morning to finalise things, but probably not after around 11AM tomorrow. Hopefully there's no surprise omission in the first match.

A poll for Rd 5 ins would be a good idea, but probably best to wait until after we lock in our Rd 4 trades first. :)

Might just be a case of playing the BE game with both of them , trade out the one who is projected to lose the most $.

Rashid has to go in Round 5 in any case (if we are trying to hold onto Shadab & Short)

Probably only need to lock in the Swepson - > Mujeeb trade before Saturday's game , but yeah hopefully no surprises in the Hurricanes & Renegades starting XI

Might be able to make Shadab or Hosein as VC

I assume you meant Hurricanes. Pretty sure barring injury or illness our players from those teams should be safely locked in.

Reasonable first innings there. Glad we didn't trade Inglis to Billings - I was originally thinking we might be going for a rotating keeper who had the double each round.

This can obviously work at times, but I reckon there are usually <5 good keepers in the comp, so it’s better to try to get to two good ones if we can. Philippe and Inglis are the two I’m aiming for. Clark also viable, but I feel like I missed the sliding doors moment in picking Gilkes.

I would have no issues with this. I think we'll be trading both within the next couple of rounds anyway.
Rashid , Steketee , Swepson , Tye are the easy trade outs (just need to figure out between Rashid & Tye for Round 4)

Personally think we need to hold Sams , Shadab & Short if possible.

So just need to find another 2 to trade out in Round 5 depending on new prices , BE's etc (without thinking too much it might be Neser & Zampa that have to go)

Again though it comes down to who we want and if we can actually afford them

Sutherland as a left field cheapie post DreRuss is at least worth considering. Would find it hard to advocate for him though.
