Wouldnt be many Ruckmen that dont pull up sore right in the middle of pre season and adjust their training loads accordingly, isnt too much of a concern when the start of their seasons still 47 days away.
I don't disagree but for someone with English's history it's a clear first strike. I rate him but I would personally want a flawless preseason from a guy like him.

Especially in the rucks where cover looks unlikely right now and any missed games could force trades.

His injury history is mainly head knocks, that isnt going to go away regardless of the pre season he has, isn't like we are stacked with Rucks with good durability or security anyway, 3 of the top 5 or 6 options have done ACL's previously and the rest have genuine role competition, is a position where Ill take the risk on scoring capacity.

AFL news 2023: Darcy Cameron suffers hamstring injury at training
After the loss of Brodie Grundy to Melbourne, the Pies can ill-afford to take damage to their ruck stocks. So there’s a lot riding on the fitness of this big man.

Collingwood ruckman Darcy Cameron has suffered a fresh hamstring setback at training in a blow to the club’s ruck plans.

Cameron finished Wednesday’s session early with right hamstring soreness and will be sent for scans.
With more than six weeks to go before Round 1 the Pies will be confident he will be available to lead the club’s ruck division against Geelong in a Friday night blockbuster at the MCG in the opening round.
But, after trading Brodie Grundy to Melbourne in the exchange period, a lot rides on a fit Cameron playing a big role in the club’s premiership tilt this season.

Mason Cox is the next best ruck option who will likely take over for at least one of the Pies’ two practice games in February - March, if Cameron misses three or four weeks with a standard hamstring strain.
Collingwood won’t take any risks with its injured big man on the eve of the season.
The club showed a lot of confidence in Cameron handing him the ruck reins after off-loading Grundy for pick 27.
The Pies will be hoping Cameron has suffered only tightness or a mild strain but will learn more about the problem after assessments with medicos over the next 24 hours.
Encouragingly, Cameron’s injury did not appear to be severe.

Collingwood is already missing key forward Nathan Krueger with another shoulder injury while captaincy favourite Darcy Moore sat out the match simulation as he works back to full fitness after a bone infection before Christmas.
Moore is tipped to take over from Scott Pendlebury as skipper with Jeremy Howe and Taylor Adams in support.
Superstar ballwinner Jordan De Goey trained well in a midfield role on Wednesday after overcoming a shoulder concern.

Camerons body didnt exactly hold up last year either, they moved him forward and brang Cox in, was never a pick I personally liked for this very reason, he just doesn't have the durability to Ruck only with McStay chop outs for a full season.

Damn it, everyone going to end up with my Witts pick at this rate  I really liked him as a unique play!
I don't know what the frenzy is with Marshall and Witts. Witts had a great season, can he back it up? Marshall is too injury prone for me, especially hot spot in his foot last year. No Ryder, so understand he'll be number 1, but he'll have a number 2 alternating anyway, so no change from last season. Happy with Gawndy atm.

Back half of the year worries me from Witts, easy matchups dried up and the scoring ability fell away a bit, think hes priced a little above what hell deliver myself, his role is the most secure out of everyone though which appeals.

10 games at 98 for a guy priced at 109 is far from ideal.

I am going to throw up a left field option, someone I am contemplating… maybe he can be the Witts of 2023 🤞😜

Just looking at all the rucks at each club & who is the the number 1 man at a reduced price - Scott Lycett maybe one to consider at 430K. Now we know he isn’t the best ruck but he is solid enough, still scores decently :-

His bye is round 15 which is ideal, the last of the byes so by then we would know who is looking like the number 1/ must have ruck (would have enough data by then) so we could flip Lycett to that ruck at round 14.

With so much uncertainty regarding the rucks, maybe going the value play is a viable option 🤔

Oh for the old set & forget days of Gawn & Grundy 😂

Is Lycett even a gaurantee to be their 1st Ruck until the byes? They really liked what Finlayson offered when he was out and Teakle and Hayes are both capable of playing senior footy, feels like one or two bad games off SANFL to me, especially when an assistant coach is saying things like this in the pre season.

Love the price, don't love the chance hes in the scooby doos after one bad game.

If Hickey can do it, so can Lycett ;)
Could link up well with his new young mids. I still remember this one

Is there a ruckman that hasn't worried you? You've pretty much put a line through Witts, English, Marshall and Cameron. Who else is there? Grundy, Gawn or Darcy? How about Draper?
