What’s the case against D Cameron ?(other than the preseason injury - which he is now over)

Averaged 96.5 after the Grundy injury, $465k and is R/F so can slot him into F6/F7 if things go well.

Seems to be the best option to allow you to “wait and see” who the best R2 option is.
I think it's the narrative around whether Cox plays or not.

I think most are settled with Rowan Marshall so it's just who to pair him with. For my team, I'd love to be able to start Cameron or someone at a lower price point, just fills my other lines with another level of player quality than even moving to a Grundy or god forbid up to Witts which I might be forced towards if nothing in the pre-season shows.
So many question marks on this line and I think I'll need to remain flexible as movement here is going to be very fluid IMO. Do I start at Witts and make my way down if needed with the luxury of having potential coin to fix other areas.

It's just going to be a pre-season watch this line for me.

Good news - please stay fit Tim, his scoring potential is the highest of the rucks no question - with so many question marks over all the rucks except for Marshall I am leaning towards English just because of his ability to produce massive scores. Real risk with his durability but he could well start the season with a bang like last year, don't want to miss out on those scores :-

Ideally Gawn gets fwd/ruck classification after round 6, has a nice price drop so can then provide cover if/when English misses games.

$605k for Witts, plus an extra $20k to go Madden to Moyle for coverage if Witts misses a game or two, ughh.
Its an interesting call there I reckon, Madden would allow for the probable DPP of at least one of Darcy,Gawn or Grundy to swing into the Ruck as cover but Moyle will all but certainly come in if Witts broke down, with the lack of durability of Rucks think I'd be hesitant to lock myself out of potential future DPP swings.

He's the one who can really put some big scores together isn't he when fully fit. Tough match up straight of the bat though with Gawn and Grundy - not sure I can go through another season like last.

Taking a Witts/English is the difference for me between say taking a Touk Miller and Cogs/LDU/Anderson type at M4. Essentially lose a captain option and whilst Cogs is a premium forward, LDU/Anderson comes with some risk and I'm already pretty committed to that risk with Tom Green at M5.

The extra trades and boosts do make some difference but that price range ruck does upset my structure somewhat.

For me my team currently depends on the likes of an R1 and that Ziebell/Fyfe/Milera mid-price option. Everything else I'm pretty settled on.

Started to share more with Cox as the season went on and the end of year average would be disappointing.

Marshall and Jackson for me. R2 seems like a punt whichever way you go. I was hoping Grundy would be more mid but something I saw the other day, think it was a coach, suggested he would play a significant amount forward. I'm hoping Freo think Jackson is more like Blicavs rather than Lobb. He's better at ground level than Lobb.

AFL pre-season 2023: Sam Draper impressing at pre-season training

The Bombers will need plenty of players to improve to avoid a repeat of 2022 this season and it appears one rising star is ready to answer the call. Get the latest pre-season news here.

Watch out, opposition rucks.

If Monday’s almost three-hour session is anything to go by, Sam Draper could go from cult hero to serious threat.

He’s always been important, but the 24-year-old’s combination of size and craft has him in the box seat to become one of the Bombers’ best — if not the best — player in 2023.

Draper has proven imposing against Andrew Phillips and Nick Bryan in recent match hit-outs and was stoic again on Monday, even plucking the ball from the ruck and bursting forward out of a pack when given the opportunity.

Once the competition’s rising star but has all the hallmarks of the real thing.

Some interesting commentary here (although these are AFLF numbers).

Not sure if there were any injury issues that resulted in less ruck time or decreased scoring for DC later in the season

That's interesting and thanks for posting - so much to play out on this line.

I think if you take DC, at least for me, I'm resigned to the fact that 1. At best he's a F7 for coverage throughtout the season and/or 2. I'll need to commit a trade to move him to a R1/R2 once we know more about this line after the first half a dozen weeks. The issue I see is if he gets injured and misses games early - that's usually how the ruck-merry go round works for me early in the season and it creates all sorts of issues to fix.

I don't expect Tom Campbell to play. He'd be a detriment to the side when he isn't Ruck 2.

I'd be surprised if we don't run Marshall as sole ruck, with some chop outs from Membrey and (until Max King returns) Sharman. Rest Marshall forward or bench him. I'd prefer Saints to bench him in spurts as required and have him as sole ruck.

With the way the ruck options sit, Marshall is a must have IMO.

I'm going D Cameron for R2 at this point. I'll switch him to fwd line and upgrade Ziebell to the best ruck once known.
