Official comment is he was being managed. SO that does suggests he is probably close or in best 22. Is managed calf or load, who knows, it is Geelong. I haven't looked into his injury history of what they were, however, little bit of a flag.

For those who watches Show me the Money II, AFL draft day, Danger was contacting him mid 2022, wanting him to come across. He tour the facility and went where he felt he was wanted. From memory other team was Essendon, however, they had coaching turnover issues which may have unsettled him. He picked Geelong as he felt they were invested in him and wanted the best for him.. Danger is a very decent person from what we have seen, so expect it is genuine.

Likely question is if he is HFF role, what is his scoring power, to @wogitalia point. I think that may be overlooked. Need to go at 85 or have a big spike to do really well. should be ok and better than the last geelong mid price we have in Jordan Clark.
Jordan Clark as a pick was ruined by Chris Scott that season, played him in a great half back role in the pre-season, stuck him up forward in the real stuff. Can't trust any of the Scotts.

Thanks! that is much better than being outside best 22. tbh i am very bullish on him (probably too much). Just the fact that the deal attached with him would have meant every team would have wanted him. I could be wrong but surely he doesn't go to a team who says there's even a chance he's playing vfl. In a great geelong team who will win a lot of games i honestly see him averaging 80 at a minimum, he aint going to be playing a lock down role, is 25 and into the prime of his career and has averaged 80+ twice before for a crap suns team who werent winning games.
You make some good points, but can a team really guarantee any recruit that they're best 22 before signing them? I'm sure they made plenty of nice vague statements like "we see you as a key part of our future" etc. but isn't it up to Bowes to prove he's best 22? Surely he just believes in his own abilities enough that he thinks he can cement a spot in the premiership side. Whether he's right or not, is up to him to prove.

Scott literally said you will be in our side, whether he was talking out of his behind I'd highly debate but its been reported multiple times now thats what happened.
And Scott said only a few days that there was no guarantee that the new recruits are best 22. So yeah he was either talking out of ass or that quote was taken out of context. Regardless, round 1 sides don't get picked in October. If it was said and Bowes believed it, then he's a fool.

I'm not trying to talk anyone out of Bowes. Personally I'd rather he had some self belief when signing instead of relying on comments that can't be guaranteed.

The expression 'We see you as an important part of our setup...' can mean a myriad of things and nothing!

I think he just backs his own ability and felt that the club also rated him and werent only interested in the pick that was thrown up into the deal, you dont tend to have ongoing dialogue with management of a player from half way through the year if you don't think they can play a role in your side.

Scott has never given anything away to the media so I wouldn't take much out of that either.

What did Dangerfield say? I was talking about his development from last season and opportunity with Selwood leaving.
Geelong champion Patrick Dangerfield believes young teammate Max Holmes could be “the best player in the competition” one day.

The 2016 Brownlow Medallist compared Holmes to a young Chris Judd.

In an excerpt from the book The Greatest Team of All, the story of Geelong’s premiership season, published in The Adelaide Advertiser, Dangerfield spoke glowingly of his young teammate.

“There are (Chris) Judd-like traits,” Dangerfield said in the book.

“He has phenomenal endurance but also electric speed – it’s a rare combination.

“He hadn’t played all that much footy during his junior days and I think he’s just starting to find out how good he can be.

“We haven’t played him that much as an inside mid yet, but he can be a good stoppage player as well.

“I believe he could be the best player in the competition at some stage, he truly could be.”

The guy from the cats to be on is Holmes I reckon but I feel like I’m pissing into the wind
Im always looking at guys that finish the previous year well for breakouts, last 6 games were 86,101,91,100,82 and 103 when subbed half way through the 3rd in the Prelim.

Isnt much margin for error at the price but he has plenty of ability.

He was also on track for BOG in that prelim. Was close to 100sc at half time from memory

Whats everyone’s thoughts on tom cole? Apparently had a real good game of half back, heaps of the ball. At 182k could quickly get to the 300k+. We were willing to pay 194k for a one gamer in goater but not much talk about cole. Doesn’t need to set the world on fire, great job security and a player who could make 150k?
Going to get games, when Mc Kenna JS looks in doubt. Cole wont make alot, but will be named every week and fingers crossed he can Avg 60. When chesser gets to the bubble thats a trade.

Has been in and out of my team at D5

Any idea if he's cleaned up his efficiency?

Looking at his CBAs, looked like he went in to the mid role in round 11. Taking out his sub game in r23, his average as a mid was about 90
