Will watch the melbourne v tigers game today.

Any other coaches nevious with the reports oliver training across the HB line and now playing in preseason games.. Cannot stop thinking this may reduce his avg score by 10+ each week.

Have heard wispers (unfounded media) that Oliver was a bit flat at the end of last season and this get me to thinking he may be manage (more time on bench) during the season when Melbourne have the game won halfway through the 3rd quarter.

Ownership High, so it will be a massive call to not start him.

Current D1-D4 Laird Oliver Bont Green.

Thinking Steele as the obvous replacment for Oliver.

It's pretty hard to start him on field though with such a rubbish role.
With vandermeer and weighman out for some time, i am concerned he may get that role in the team. 65+ is assumed.?

At F5 i will take that risk.

Other Options KIng., Rat which will give RK cover. Not keen on the Rookies Sheezel and Pou.

I'm not sure if 65+ is assumed tbh.

For what it's worth, i've spent up for Flanders at F6. Not the greatest role either but has shown in two games that he gets involved in a lot of the play and can kick goals.

im looking at getting Flanders into F5 but have to lose one of Stewart or Dawson to do it. Hmmm decisions to be made.

Will watch the WB reply sometime this week. Flanders look alright but no Touk or Ellis.

In the village of the blind the one eyed man is king :)

I don't think you're wrong but I'd love to know what rookies people are taking instead of Callaghan because I'm struggling mightily in the mids.
Personally for me it's basically between rotating a bevy of rookies at M7/8 and having Rat at R3 or boosting up to that $250k Callaghan/Flanders type.

With the rookies I can potentially field any combo of McLean, Phillips, Goater, Sheezel, Constable, Baker, Wilmot, Phillipou - depending on selection, and I'm hoping the flexibility makes up for lower scoring power.

I'll put my hand up and say at this stage I'm fading Oliver. I still think he's a great pick and I'm not worried about the whispers on role but I need the cash elsewhere and I've a caveat that he will only be replaced by potentially 3 players I like being Neale, Macrae and Brayshaw. The cash difference between Neale and Oliver is bugger all but it does enable another player in the forwards for me. I actually think Neale is a great POD somewhat at under 20%

Neale is in my team also now - historically a faster starter to the season

Agree with your thoughts above entirely

This only confirms what I have also heard about Clarry. There is a injury/problem with him for a while now and it could hamper him at any time , of course Laird could do a hammy also at any time but he will be managed and probably only score 150

I’ve got Ginbey in the midfield with Phillips and Ashcroft M6-M8 (No MacKenzie atm but that can change). Phillips has the role so I trust he’ll still be ok for a 60avg. Agree don’t love the options.

Has anyone done an analysis of the number of Free Kicks in the preseason with the move to 4 field umpires and how it will impact Supercoach?

WBD vs NTH = 24 - 17
HAW vs COL = 20 - 18
SYD vs CAR = 35 - 28
FRE vs PA = 24 - 22
BRL vs GEE = 24 - 20
STK vs ESS = 26 - 26
WCE vs ADE = 22 - 24
GWS vs GCS = 23 - 21
MEL vs RIC = 23 - 17

Carlton alway get ripped off with the white maggots. Tigers too but they do cheat a lot 😎.

Dont think it will make a massive difference especially to SC. Forwards could get a few more goals for holding but midfield will still mainly just be dealing with the central umpire.

Umpire number 22 has a pathological hatred of us.

Agree with this, expect the main forwards to get slightly more and their defenders to pay that price. Stewart/Sicily probably the two relevant defenders who could be impacted as actual defenders sometimes. Don't think it's likely to push the forwards that wouldn't be relevant much higher.

Worth noting the Syd vs Carlton game was wet which does make it more physical and prone to free kicks, especially in a sloppy preseason hitout.

Stewart/Sicily type probably okay as more intercept backs and both smart and will draw a few free kicks themselves. More the non talent big defender who hold and scrags their opponents for a living.

Don’t think very relevant in SC just hope it gives Harry and Charlie a few extra goals over the year.

Believe Stewart got caught twice for it against the Lions (think it was this week, might have been the week before), both of them are definitely scraggers though so it could catch them.

Personally I think it's unlikely to mean anything, both also get scragged a fair bit as teams try to stop them being 3rd up, so swings and roundabouts they could even come out ahead on it.

That guy who used to play for Saints was the worst.
Nicholls. Fisher. The Brisbane umpiring pair of doom.

Foot for GWS. No idea, his name never pops up in any other context but if I see #2 out there I know it's going to be a game of free kicks blown from half way down the field for something no one else saw and fair game on Giants' heads
