Too excessive in the forwards?

If it wasn't for the fact I think we'll get some good DPP forward options throughout the season (Gawn, Grundy, B.Smith in particular) I might actually be tempted to run with a team like this. Increased trades make sideways trading premiums less of an issue though so it still could work.
That is a lot of 102k rookies!

I think Flanders F6 is a bit bold, probably safer with someone more expensive there :p

Yeah, had to drop down to Tyler Young to fit Macrae in, but if you favour Steele/Parish for a lower price then it works. Caminiti may be $102k but I think he's a better option than Srurt/Comben/McVee.

I did originally have Ziebell in F6 at the expense of Callaghan but thought that might be pushing it a bit...

There’s Allen who will play every game, no sub risk and could average 70. Pick him over Flanders and you can fix your rookie issues with I think minimal on field points lost.

what are you thinking Flanders goes at to justify spending $260k on F6?

I think Flanders could potentially average 80 . He's supposedly had a massive pre-season, was great in both practice matches, put up big numbers in the VFL, former high draft pick so he has the talent. But he's never put it all together at AFL level which is the risk/reward. If not Flanders I think I'd rather drop down to a Sheezel/McLean.

Very similar set up to me. We only have 5 different players.

80 is a massive jump from his history. And it’s a lot to tie up in a spot that a cheaper player could go at 70 which I think is more realistic for Flanders.
Hasn’t every player had a massive preseason and have great VFL numbers? If we are being brutally honest. Who would make an AFL side and not have big numbers in one of the feeder comps?

Never had so many iterations on a team but have almost settled on this.
I previously had Dawson as my D2 but needed cash to upgrade W Brodie (M3) to Macrae, which also enabled me to keep Jelly, who was my M2, and upgrade Bruhn to Hopper.
I did have Flanders at F5 but after the chatter here have for the moment gone to Mitch Owens; as so many say all things being equal pick someone you’ll enjoy watching. I could downgrade Owens to Ratugolea and bring Dawson back in but prefer current team.
Your comments and advice would be most appreciated. Thanks guys!

Only time Allen has averaged above 70 was when he was playing as the relief ruck/forward, which won't be happening in 2023. Lone tall forward in arguably the worst team in the league, he could produce some stinkers. Sheezel if North allow him to spend time at half back or through the mids could average 70-75 with a spike game or two, but who knows how they'll use him. Had McLean all pre-season but his final practice game performance and role are concerning.

Sometimes it's hard to ignore pre-season form. Flanders was getting praise for having a big summer and he backed it up in both practice games. I think he's a good option, but whether it's at F5 or F6 is the question.

Did you watch his 2 preseason games?

His role was very good - pushing up to the stoppages from a high half fwd position so was constantly around the ball & in a position to receive it. His work ethic was huge, constantly in motion - has worked hard on his endurance.

Regarding Allen, I love the kid but it’s a big ask being the main fwd target with JK gone - he is going to get far more attention & playing in a poor team, just how much supply will he get? Not rucking anymore so not going to get that opportunity to get easy points when at stoppages. He will have some spike games when he takes some big marks/ kicks goals but will have some quiet ones so scoring will be inconsistent.
Flanders is playing a much more lucrative role (even without CBAs) which should provide consistently solid scoring therefore making good coin quickly allowing us to upgrade him to a premium relatively early.

Like it overall, prefer Flanders in there over Owens.

Love the unique pick in Cumming btw, kid is a jet with an excellent kick - could have a big year 👍

It’s pre season and Touk was missing one of them.
He’s priced at $256k not because of injury discount but because that’s what he’s consistently scored at over 3 seasons. For whatever reason he’s not ever looked like being a good scorer at this level.
And he plays for the Suns
He could be a great pick just challenging some of these notions being put forward. We gotta be realistic leopards don’t always change their spots when the real stuff starts.

Wasn't he pretty average in the first practice game?

Yeah, a liitle GWS heavy I reckon!
If they have a bad day in the midfield, maybe only one scores well?
Having said that I have all but Jelly!
And on the flip side I guess if they are having a down day, Cummings will be busier and hopefully that equates to a higher score for him!

Maybe Cogs to Rozee, but then look how heavy I am with Bulldogs?
