Green’s body size should allow him to do the Oliver, Cripps at their best scoring…I genuinely like a number of the kicks he makes… massive upside because of players departing and increase in fitness.
When it comes to Green I think of guys like Liberatore - elite contested ball beast, but doesn't have the outside game to really go any higher than a 110 average. Green is very handball happy and doesn't get involved a lot in the outside play, which may prevent him having those consistent 120+ games you need from a premium mid

With the amount of mids you can make a case for to average 115+ this year, a 110 average from Green at his price isn't really gonna cut it. 97 to 115 is a significant jump to make in one season. I currently have Green in my team and will most likely start him, but I do question just how high his ceiling is.

Argh! Don't make me change my team now!!!! It's been set (baring rookie changes) for like 3 days now! Genuinely appreciate the view.

I'd say if you're not expecting big points from him, remove him. You could just as easily gamble on Titch (fallen premo + changed clubs) or JDG cheaper, or pick up a mid pricer and take some cash in. All of those are better options than someone who will clog up a list spot - especially when there are bunch around the 600-620k mark who you can make a strong case for top 8, Steele, Cripps, Parish etc. But if you're like me... that won't be happening...dude where's my cash!

I think we might all be going a year too early on Green. I can see him pushing up to a 110 average this year, setting the platform for him to average 115-120 from next year and beyond. 110 is still good, but probably not good enough to be a season keeper. I'll probably pick him anyway because he's had an impressive pre-season, more CBA opportunity and GWS have an easy opening draw, and I don't want to miss the boat if he comes out firing.

Green is coming in to his 4th season. Guys like Oliver, Cripps, Macrae, Bont, etc. it was their 5th/6th seasons where they all really took their games to the next level and became super premium scorers.

I'm picking him for the first 10 weeks or so, after that I'll make a decision to flip or keep depending on how he's tracking. Much like last year I expect his start to be much stronger than the back of his season.

Are we putting too much faith in Callaghan ?
Tricky price and I know he’ll get more mid time, but so will Coniglio. Also Green and Kelly in there, and despite his good score in the practice match,it was only against a Gold Coast midfield.
His highest score last year (76) was against St. Kilda, but against tougher opposition he could only manage 48 against the Dees, and 33 against the Cats.
Very small sample size, but food for thought.

He'll have good and bad scoring games. He's a talent, wing role not ideal for consistency but being a good user of the ball I suspect that the scoring chains will play through him with a quicker run and carry game. He puts himself in good positions and if GWS can keep the game flowing he'll benefit. The difference I see between Flanders and Finn is that GWS seems to be looking and playing through Finn where Flanders seems to be looking for the ball. My worry with Flanders is when the season starts and the ball movement quickens I think he can find himself out of position.

Anyone rate LDU above Green as a keeper? Have had both in my team, and depending on how the last few rookies fall, one may need to come back in.
Yessir. LDU has another year or 2 under his belt and came on strong in the back of last year. He’s a good age, high draft pick, ready to go! LDU over Green for me.

Also had an injury game where he scored about 30 early last year. Clarko also loves his established players at the coalface. Think you've talked me in to him above Green if push comes to shove.

You lot are harsh markers, I would take 110 from Green in a heartbeat! And if that level he isn't a keeper at the end of the year then you have had a pretty good season...
Depends how you view the rest of the midfield crop. I can see up to 14 players averaging 115+ this season (the 7 who did it last year + Merrett, Brayshaw, Cripps, Parish, Steele, Kelly), plus a handful more in the 110-115 range. If Green goes at 107-110 and ends up outside of the top 20 midfield scorers then you'll have missed out on a lot of points come the end of the year, and he'll probably end up requiring a luxury trade at some point.

With Green, you are really just hoping he bursts out of the blocks with a string of ~120 games against soft opposition.

The issue is that GWS aren't exactly a great side themselves

Personally think that GWS are still a very talented side, they will surprise many this year given Kingsley has already shown he will be playing his best players in their correct positions unlike Leon....

Ash to half back where he played as a junior & excelled
Whitfield to half back to provide the run & carry
Ward to the fwd line/ transitioned out of the midfield now

Yes Hopper & Taranto are real losses but GWS had a surplus of quality midfielders previously along with Leon adding Ash in there as a run with player when he is a very good half back (just one of many bizarre Leon moves)

Backing my boy to get very close to the 120 mark this year myself, endurance has really improved/ will run out games better this year.

Mate, you are so all in on Green (dat avatar!), I'm taking everything you say on that front with a grain of salt :p

If it fails, shouldn’t be too hard to correct with all the trades available.
