I don’t think you want a team winning after kicking a point.

What about the final siren sounds, 5 minute break, toss to decide which way the team kicks, then next goal wins (but that goal must put your team in front).

For example using tonight’s game in the rare case Richmond kicked 7 points then Carlton kick a goal, they’d be trailing by a point, so would still be next goal wins until you’re in front.
I think if you want next goal wins then better to just treat a behind as no score.

I don't mind different siren idea so much but not ideal if it causes players to stop even for a moment and changes the play.
Well, you can't just let play continue, and inform the players a the next opportunity/stoppage. The game and decisions become much different once it is sudden death, and the game could be over before the players knew it was in sudden death.

Good idea. Just reckon if it’s sudden death it has to be with a goal. Would be a bad look deliberately kicking a point and wheeling off in celebration.

Tbf the afl don't care about fantasy. Take away that and what is wrong with bringing on fresh legs?
We've already been here and it sucked, it's a stupid look, like last night with a fresh player running the legs off a tired one down the wing. Ruins the equality of it all.

Shai Bolton kicked 1.1 for the game off 3x shots with his first shot a goal in the 2nd quarter.

His 2nd shot he put out on the full from a hard angle from 40m out in the last qtr where he switched up from a straight set on goal to a checkside in the last few steps of his action. Bizarre.

His registered point was a set shot banana from basically straight in front, 35m out, where he hit the belly of the ball and just floated through a behind. Easy set shot goal for any forward going hips & shoulders square to goal.

He kicks 2x drop punts & Richmond win. I know it’s round 1, but he should be held accountable & the media coverage are analysing everything else, most noticeably the Carlton bloke’s dropped mark late, bar Bolton’s basic set shots.
The story of last year for Richmond/Bolton, needs to stop drinking his own bath water...

It probably should be noted that the fresh player running the legs off a tired one down the wing ended up costing the blues the win after they'd sent the signal to close the game down and run out the clock.

Jack Ross also had a few key moments in the game after he came on which arguably helped Richmond in getting the last couple of scores more than it hindered them, so on balance they probably cancelled each other out.

Eh, I felt like LOB made the right decision to play on, even that late in the game. He managed to chew up a lot of time up the wing, gained field position, and a F50 mark would have meant much more time could be taken off the clock than if he'd just sat at half back. The villain of the play was McKay, all he had to do was keep his feet!

Disagree, the issue was when O'Brien fumbled the last bounce which messed up McKay's lead and ended up leaving him off balance in surrounded by three Richmond players when the tumble punt from LOB eventually came in. Would have been a really good mark from McKay in those circumstances.

The run down the wing itself only "chewed up" about 10 seconds off the clock in reality and in the end it looked more like a desperation play to win the game in the last two minutes rather than what was clearly called for off the bench.

Not the sort of late game composure Voss was looking for I don't think.
