13 / 1069.

Laird (C), Josh Kelly, Green, Cumming, Ridley, Worpel, Darcy, Marshall and Fyfe to play.

Dodged the Stewart bullet but got hit by the anti-vaxxer. :(
Looking forward to seeing how my Bombers perform today to witness how much pain they cause me before reaching for the antidepressants for season 23.
@PC, we may have to have a pint on the outcome of this game with hand over at the next get together. Good luck mate.

Sydney vs GC

General - Very ordinary game. Suns didn't show up until basically quarter time, neither team was clean but Swans much cleaner and never really challenged.

Swans - Good bounce back after the GF embarrassment, really needed that win as a team, Suns have been an absolute nightmare for us as well so even bigger win. No real surprises from anything here.

Warner - HF/Mid role, pretty much same as last year, looked really solid, could have been a huge game if he could kick tonight. Looks set for a really good year.

Lloyd - The gull! Junk time kicked in very early in this and he went into overdrive. Was solid and played a good game of footy but don't think this is to be expected most weeks, the Suns ball use was abysmal.

Stephens - Huge game for him, maybe it's finally clicking. Was great.

Gulden - Really strong role, definitely better than expected, must be noted that Mills had a very light midfield role, dare say to protect his gimpy finger but Gulden cashed in. Had a calf strapped in the last but came back out so probably just a cork. Looked the goods and will be one to watch next week for anyone without him.

Rampe - Turned back the clock, great game.

Blakey - Surprised by his ratio, didn't really feel like he had a stinker. Same role as last year, took his fair share of kick-ins.

Mills - As mentioned, not a lot of midfield time but was around the contest a fair bit, definitely playing a bit outside and when he kicked his goal he was clearly protecting his finger in celebrations indicating it's certainly not right yet. Definitely an upgrade target early on I think.

Parker - Role seemed fine, just didn't score great. To be fair this total non-contest doesn't really suit him.

Ladhams - I thought he was solid against strong competition, definitely did nothing to demand a spot when Hickey is back though.

Heeney - Pure forward role, HF and did get up the ground but just never really in the game. Another possible upgrade target early.

Campbell - One of his best games for us, was at HB and played well. He's got a chance to win a spot and if he plays like this, may just take it.

Roberts - Subbed on very late as we had JMc, Paddy and Gulden all under clouds at 3QT so waited even longer to make the sub, he was solid once on, clearly had more run than everyone else!

Franklin - Will probably get suspended, because AFL, but it's an awful look, Collins runs past the ball to make contact, Buddy protects himself while playing the ball and Collins gets clipped, for me that's Collins fault 100/100 times and the guy playing the ball should be able to protect from a guy trying to hit him. Fully expect Bud gets a week though because Collins ran his head into him and that's punishable by death...

Suns - They'd be pretty angry with this. Whole preseason behind them and they came out with no game plan (I hope) and zero intensity, was actually just sad to watch. Sydney have been their bunnies as well so an even worse result. Watching them refuse to ever look to switch or go inboard and just constantly bang it down the line was painful as a fan of the team benefitting from it. Their defenders all looked like they're not allowed to do anything else. Genuinely reckon they had 4 switches or inside kicks for the ENTIRE game, no composure, no control of the ball at all, would hate to be a defender having to play like that or a forward having to try and be on the end of it. No idea what they were doing because it absolutely wasn't working either.

Witts - Monster game, he dominated and was easily their best. Looks really fit and covered the ground great. Will face much tougher competition most weeks.

Rowell - Really industrious game by him, just kept working and working until he got into it and can hold his head up. If he gets suspended for going at the ball how you should, just scrap the game now. JMc is the one who should get suspended for how he stupidly went after the pill, wish they'd stamp out the dangerous action instead of punished the right action.

Miller - Really worked into the game also, good sign for a guy coming off a hamstring to be running it out that well, was just not a great game from him though, ball use a bit off and just not as involved, especially early, as he normally would be. Another who could be an upgrade target shortly but good defense of his price first up.

Constable - Got butchered by CD, his first 3 clangers should have all been effective kicks and never recovered from there. The next 3 were pretty ordinary clangers but he looked to get the ball and took a fair share of the kick-ins, he was much better than his SC score. Did not benefit from their game style at all, the long forced kick into coverage and no switching really cut him off at the legs. He's done great to score what he did honestly.

MacPherson - Really solid role, like Constable, he'd benefit from them being allowed to control the ball or switch but he also copped a DE% by having to kick down the line on team rules (I'm going with this as every single player did it every single time). He played well and did a good job on Papley who he was against most of the time.

Anderson - Shocked at his ratio as he basically didn't give it to a teammate all night! One of those weird ones that happen sometimes, yes he was contested but not that much to make up for the disposal, also not sure how he dodged any clangers. Oh well, you take that in a shocking game.

Flanders - Some exquisite junking by him to put up a reasonable score. Role as expected playing as a HF/FP with a few midfield rotations. Probably would be ok if the team had been even remotely competitive or had lowered their eyes to hit targets at any point over the 4 quarters, alas they didn't and so his role was toxic. What he did was pretty good.

Uwland - He was solid but definitely not commanding of a spot with basically 5 guys to return at his position. Showed some nice things, took a few kickins which was a surprise given he didn't look very skillful throughout the game. Will make cash in the role if he can play enough games.

Davies - Pretty ordinary role also, carried over from preseason of being a HF with the leftover mid rotations but the main 4 was the same as last year. Again failed to score and seems to lose all composure once the real stuff starts, getting awfully close to being a preseason warrior at this point.

Long - Role as expected, played pretty well but not a fantasy role, he's basically in Lemmens' role right now but can hold and play other roles so should stay in the side for now.

King - I can't really blame him, he was the deepest forward on a team that rarely got it near him, never kicked it to his advantage (he marked and goaled on literally the only one they did). Just a horrible role when getting thrashed and playing that way. Tony Locket would have scored the same. I assume they'll play differently against Essendon but god they were hard to watch.
Who would you give another week to bruhn or flanders? Need to bring sheezel in and one has to make way for him.

Back to reality this year for us all in round one scoring. Last year 2393 had me at about 3k overall. A score like that this year would have me in the top 50 I reckon. I'm more likely for 2000-2100.

Surely most have him, yeah
43% own Jones, so not too much damage.

Of the 57% of non owners, 32% will own Stewart.

Great signs for English to score so well against that duo.

Watson isn't exactly the greatest advertisement for dropping $30k a year at Xavier

Having 9 points only toward half time mr hidsight
Asking you to eloborate, within 8 minutes, on your post isn't an unreasonable request. Not everyone here has the ability to watch every minute of every game. Many will read through the thread to catch up on games and how ploayers have gone. So, seeing "pathetic effort" raises questions. Was it his effort? Was it his disposal efficiency? Was he overawed? or was it just a bad score?

Could be a nervious twitch reaction, but im thinkng Hopper to Sheezel next week.?? Hopper liked a kid searching for the cookie jar and when he eventually found it couldnt open the lid. Sheezel by all reports looked at home off HB. 30+ Disposals in your first game......WoW.

Kinda Happy with the rest of the team.?

Gawn - Dominate.
JHF looked great also, but only so many you can fit into the FWD Line. With Fyfe at F5 so no room yet.

I'm thinking Jones to Sheezel currently.

I agree on Hopper, not sure if I'll wait a week or go early but I hate ball watchers.

Based on Gulden being named in the fwd pocket I got jittery and traded him. To JHF! That extra cash will help with fixing up Jones next week. Phillips looks like a correction will be needed to get him in if he gets named onfield next week. Running Witts as C after Neales non existent second half helped.

Overall reasonably happy, only the one standout score so far which I managed to captain. Have Sheezel stuck on bench, and copped the Jone5. Had swapped Marshall to Witts with the Lyon comments the other day, but decided to swap back when Campbell was emg. 180k in the bank so will be able to make something happen with Jones, Cole tempting but will try find additional funds and go to Daicos

5 premiums, 2 mid prices, and 1 rookie to come. Looking at around 2050-2100
