Hey Rowsus, have a trade id like your opinion on.

Im debating whether i should trade higgins to matt thomas via honeychurch (floating donut).

Normally i would say its not worth it, but, the only reason i chose higgins in the first place was to make money/be a definite starter. I've watched both games so far and while he may have been a little underscored in round one, i feel he is playing so far back in defence (and being too lazy to get out of there) that his scoring is going to suffer and he may struggle to get those couple of 100s someone in his price bracket needs to make some serious money. With honeychurch moving to the forward line i could effectively loophole between taylor and impey for best scores.

I guess the question is, is thomas going to make enough money, quick enough (so that i can upgrade) to be worth one trade?

p.s I'm already thinking no!

Jeg håber, at nogen finder dig et internetforbindelse for dig at tjekke dine smuthuller!

Oh crap, now I need to study Danish along with PITS, RAMPS, and other foreign languages here..:)
It's worse than you think, Courtesans. I'm writing Danish, and tracygrims is writing Swedish! There's enough similarity between the two, that we can understand what each other writes.

Hi Rowsus,

I need to move Hurn out (another one!), and already have Swallow. I feel there is value in downgrading Hirn this week, and taking advantage of price drops to do my 'real' Hurn replacement this week.

So, is bringing in KK 'a week early' and holding fire on picking up another prem advisable?

Thanks in advance
Hi jaca,
I'm not a strong advocate of getting Rookies a week early. If that's your plan, you should wait a week, see how KK goes, then go Hurn to KK. You don't seem to have any burning problems this week, so holding Hurn a week won't hurt you.
Good luck :)

Hey dyii,
I don't think there is a full trades worth of value in Michie ---> Cunningham. Now that Crouch is selected, and his brother is out for 6 weeks, you'd be crazy to get rid of him. If he proves to be a ball magnet, he will play his way to JS. Definitely hold him for now! I'd hold Michie this week, and if Kelly plays well, and gets selected next week, go Michie ---> Kelly, but only if Michie isn't selected. To do that trade if Michie is selected next week, Kelly would need to score near 100 this week to justify it.
I don't like the Pavlich ---> Zorko trade, but you need to assess for yourself, what you think they will score from here.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowsus, what are your thoughts on Michie and trading him? It's either him/M. Crouch for J.Kelly/Cunningham. Right now Michie>Cunningham most likely although M. Crouch poor JS and likely to be sub, while Josh Kelly looks like he could kill this season. Which trade would you do?

Also am I correct in saying Pavlich>Zorko is a poor trade?

Cheers Rowsus

Given Higgins doesn't appear to be doing the job he was selected for, a combination of decent points, and decent dollars, you need to ask yourself, will he turn it around? If the answer is no, go to Thomas M, if the answer is yes, just continue without Thomas M. Your team looks ok without Thomas, so he's not a must have for you.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowsus I have been planning ahead for my expected trades for the season and i am attempting to get a fully premium team as early as possible to give me that extra advantage over the rest of the competition, and i was wondering if you could help me find out how much the best performing 10-15 rookies from last year increased by value after they had played 6 games.

The reason for this is that i am trying to figure out which week i should start trading out my cash cows. At the moment my research is suggesting that i should begin trading out rookies after round 6 and i can have a fully premium team by round 13 by using 17 trades, but the price increases I have been factoring are somewhat subjectively based on their real price at their current averages and i am not sure that they are very realistic or sustainable. Plus i very much doubt they will reach their real price after just 4 price rises, so it would be pretty helpful if i had some historical information to see whether or not the price rises i am forecasting are realistic.

Hey dennis,
it's an admirable if slightly impossible aim. All SC Coaches are trying to finish their teams asap, but I'm not sure anyone has managed it by round 13, with a team full team of actual Premiums. Also, no Rookie hits his peak in price by his 4th price rise, unless his scoring drops off. Usually 6 or 7 are required to make 85-90% of the gains they are going to make, then another 5 or 6 to fill in the last 10-15%. Most coaches are happy to trade them out at 90% of their full potential gain, as it takes too long to wring out that last 10%.
You need to visit an excellent thread created and filled by broges. It will answer most of the questions you have asked me here.

Hey Rowus I'm totally stuck for my trades

Option A:

Rohan to Ambrose
Michie to Tyson
Hurn to Hibberd/Hanley/Birchall (next week)

Gets rid of Rohan and Michie, but I'm a bit concerned about the premiums around that price range.

Option B:

Fyfe to Tyson
Rohan to Zorko
Hurn to Mcveigh (next week)

Gets rid of Rohan and brings in the guys I really want, but I think Fyfe could be a waste of a trade.

Option C:

Daisy to Tyson
Hurn to Mcveigh

Only uses 2 trades, but Daisy seems like maybe a waste of a trade.

I'm assuming with all 3 options that I have to get Tyson

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Hi Bobbie,
I can't see anything that needs fixing there. Keep your trades for another round. Good job.
Good luck :)
Thanks Rowsus. Feels a bit strange not trading! The only trade I will consider is Robertson to a playing rookie (Taylor?) if I need cover in the mids.

Have you considered Hurn to McDonald, Michie to Tyson? Gets you two good cash cows you are missing, and gives you cash for an upgrade next week.

I have considered that. Though then Zorko will have gone up. I guess I could just upgrade to someone else...

EDIT: I will only have about 450k even if I trade someone as expensive as Rohan, taken his price rise into consideration.

Hi MMM,
like an awful lot of teams, myself included, you are facing a trading dilemma this week.
Don't let Swallows low B/E influence your decision too much. The only thing that should influence you there is, do you believe he will be a top 8-10 Defender, from here to the end of the season? If yes, and Mitchell/Enright are missing, then it is a potentially viable trade. If you don't think Swallow can be a top 8-10 Defender for the last 21 rounds, then don't even consider him.
Tyson is definitely "now or never". It would seem crazy to get him after this week, when his price should rise about $80k. He would then become a $300k player you are hoping will score 100/week. Good value, and will still make good Money, but you missed the cream on the cake.
The Zorko question reads exactly the same as the Swallow question above. Do you believe he will be a top 8-10 Forward for the last 21 rounds?
Keep in mind, both Swallow and Zorko will be potentially affected by players returning to their teams, and possibly altering their role and/or scoring.
So if the answers are: Yes, I want him, and Yes, what do you do?
You need to do reverse the question, and go through the same process. ie Are the players you taking out, players that should be taken out?
In the cases of Mitchell/Enright, long term the answer is probably no. They should both be right up there in the list of best defenders between rounds 3 and 23, even if they miss this week.
Michie out, or Crouch out. There is no positively right answer here. Michie has been disappointing, and is potentially looking at vests, or being dropped, but should at least make some money. Crouch has the potential to become Couch from 2012. Lots of promise, but you could end waiting the Whole season waiting for him to get picked. There are two dangers picking placeholding Rookies. One they never get picked, and you have wasted a spot. Two, if they finally do get picked, you potentially miss a downgrade option later in the season. So which problem do you fix? As I said, no positively right answer here.
Pavlich, Gunston, Rohan. Who is the most likely to fill the role they were originally picked for, from here? My answer would be Pavlich. The wet conditions did him no favours on the weekend. Gunston is speculative, and is possibly picking up Buddy's Defender now Buddy is gone. Rohan is Rohan. He is a 60-65 point player, that will never make more than $150k.
If you believe Mitchell/Enright can still fill a strong role, then Mitchell/Enright ---> Swallow is too sideways.
This leaves you, if you answered Yes, I want him, Yes, with only one choice! Trading either of Pavlich/Gunston to Zorko won't give you enough cash to do Crouch ---> Tyson, so your trades seem to be:
Michie ---> Tyson
Pavlich/Gunston ---> Zorko.
Given Pavlich has good history, even though he is "old", I'd keep him over the speculative Gunston.
Good luck. :)
Hi Row, now that team selections are out, it makes things a little easier doesn't it?

I've set my mind of bringing in Tyson so no issues there. Question is, should I do it in one trade using a straight swap involving Michie? Or should I wait for the Adelaide subs to be announced and use Matt Crouch to upgrade to Tyson? If I use Michie, I lose a slow burner who will make me cash. If I use Matt Crouch (assuming he is sub), I get to keep my slow burner and use him as a FD this round.

Now the second part of the equation is critical. Say if I were to use Matt Crouch and upgrade him to Tyson, I will need extra cash so that brings in a second trade. I am very worried that Enright will be a late out. In saying so, I also believe that Swallow will end up as a top 10 defender for this season. So should I avoid the risk of a late out and pull the trigger on Enright? Or should I take the risk on Enright and ship off the speculative Gunston to Zorko, who I believe will also be a top 10 forward this year?

Hey Rowsus,

I was thinking of trading Hurn to M. Thomas (via dpp). Thomas initially looked like a no-brainer, but I hate his rd 8 bye. After looking at alternatives, I am now not sure that Thomas is the best option.

If we take Cunningham as an alternative, if he scores at his current average of 67, then by his rd 10 bye he will have made $186k. Thomas would need to score at 95/game to match that by rd8. This is ignoring any JS/vest issues that may impact Cunningham. If Thomas scores at 100+/game then he could be easily upgraded by Rd6/7.

By getting Thomas, I would have to put two of Dunstan/Ellis/Polec/Michie on the bench (though Michie will probably become a prem defender next week by swinging Hunt back to the mids). This does seems like a waste of points when I could have have Cunningham on the bench (esp if the rookies keep up their current averages). I could use the extra $125k in the next few weeks for a premium upgrade in other lines.

I think I know which way I will jump, but would love to hear you're thoughts.

Thanks
