3 trades this week. Balancing the need to generate cash and improve scoring so going Cumming > N Daicos, F Greene > K Chandler, Callaghan > Setterfield, toss up between Setters and Ziebell but think I will get better short term gain with Setters and not convinced either is a keeper.

Wanted to go Hunter Clarke to Brennan Cox will have to sit on him for a week, and he shouldn’t drop much in price. Will also need to wait on trading Sean Darcy and hope he turns it around against WCE.

Doch and Macrae are concerning but given lesser priority atm, I appreciated the incisive comments on Doch in this forum.

Comments very welcome

Not a fan of the Callaghan to Setterfield trade
Seems a like for like almost with Callaghans BE at -8. Kelly back this week helps aswell.
Setterfield only played against Hawks & GC so jury is still out that he can maintain the output against better opposition. I guess those are the risks you sometimes have to take. 🤷‍♂️

That's a very bold statement considering what we currently have on offer as forwards, and outrageously so if potential DPP changes are taken into account.
He did score 136 in round one and he gave away 6 free kicks in round 2 and is averaging 90.
He could easily score 140 this week against Adelaide.

It's only one trade though vs the alternative scenario(?)

Player A > Player C
vs
Player A > Player B > Player C

So the incremental cost ist one trade, no?

Might be a flaw in the logic on my part.
I was thinking similarly.

Every trade has two parts, an in and an out. To bring a player in and then trade them out is two half-trades in my view.

I’m hoping some of you guys can talk me out of this because I just feel so dirty doing it.

Currently ranked 2,824th overall.

Docherty > Daicos
Hopper (Assuming his injured) > Setterfield
Chessar > Chandler

I’ve always been one to trade conservatively but with 36 available this year, being aggressive is the way to go.

I’m not usually one to ask for advice/opinions on trades but I really need some positive reinforcement or sense talked into me. Lol.
Personally the first trade is one I’d only do if I needed cash to facilitate other good trades. I doubt Daicos outscores Doc from here.

The other two look very straightforward if Hopper is indeed an LTI, I don’t think much convincing should be needed on those.

Now thinking I'm going to go all out and either make or break my season:
Dale, McVee and Chesser to Darcy Cameron, McKenna and Bowes via DPP. Puts Dunkley in the mids, leaves me with Bowes at D2... but also takes me from 1 underperforming premium and 2 stagnant rookies to a bloke that could easily be a top 6 forward, an excellent stepping stone and a "rookie" that'll make a fair bit of cash.
Would it be possible to wait on Bowes until his bubble, and add another cash cow, or get English over Darcy?

I only managed 2,008 last round after losing Gawn and failing to loop to Laird, captaining Green's 106. I'm starting round 3 ranked 79,805 with $166.8k in the bank and I'm in a good position to go aggressive while still maintain solid cash flow (barring injuries/abysmal performances).

Here's my team pre-trades:
supercoach-round3-start.PNG

If only I could make 4 corrections this round... I've toyed with the following options:

Option A:
Chesser $123.9k > N. Daicos $502.5k
Flanders $256.3k > K. Chandler $123.9k
Gawn $622.1k > D. Cameron $465.9k

Salary before trades: $1,169,100
Salary after: $200.7k

Option B:
Chesser $123.9k > N. Daicos $502.5k
Fyfe $313.6k > K. Chandler $123.9k
Gawn $622.1k > D. Cameron $465.9k

Salary before trades: $1,226,400
Salary after: $134.1k

Option C:
Docherty $603.6k > N. Daicos $502.5k
Gawn $622.1k > D. Cameron $465.9k
Flanders $256.3k

Salary before trades: $1,648,800
Salary after: $680.4k

Flanders > Ziebell $356.4k | Leaves = $324k
Flanders > Coniglio $557.7k | Leaves = $122.7k

Option D:
Docherty $603.6k > N. Daicos $502.5k
Gawn $622.1k > D. Cameron $465.9k
Callaghan $244k > Setterfield $348.2k

Salary before trades: $1,636,500
Salary after: $319.9k

I've decided to go Option D. Had to go sideways on Doch to bring in Naicos and unfortunately miss out on Ziebell, LDU and Chandler's $$$. Going into round 3 with this team, if all my players hit their projected score outputs - wish me luck - I'm looking at going into round 4 with approximately $956.4k in the bank.

In my opinion Gawn, Fyfe &
Flanders are your 3 main issues.

Would you consider going

Gawn > Cameron
Fyfe > Coniglio
Flanders > Ziebell ?

Could flick Ziebell to defence from round 6 also.

Gawn > English/Witts/Cameron - Pick one basically, there's some considerations on other trades based on these.
Neale > LDU - Had enough of Neale's crap, dropping 100k while LDU goes up similar and I just like LDU.
Chesser >

Daicos - At my rank don't really think playing the same game works, he'd be the go if I wasn't going so disastrously though and chasing tail.
Chandler - Cash generation but doesn't help on field.
Setters - Balances on field help with cash generation.

Struggling with the trades this week to be honest.
22 rounds to go, a marathon, no need to be too drastic too early. We are now in the player correction and money making phase of the race.

Good trading is all about timing. You have an advantage there on most other SuperCoaches with your skillful knowledge.

My thoughts are below. The only difference that I would probably do, is get Daicos in to neutralise his potential high scoring, that other Teams could benefit from. But LDU looks a good choice too.

Gawn > English = Need SC pts? Then chance the likely highest scoring Ruckman.
Neale > LDU = Because you just like LDU, okay.
Chesser > Chandler = The quickest money making Rookie you haven't got. Move Dunkley into Mid and play Chandler Fwd.

@xanderdom

If you want Daicos you could do the above with Fyfe to Daicos via Davey and Chesser I think.

I agree with these 3 outs As the priority.

Do I do Ridley to Daicos this week, with the boost, or hold of next week and spend $50k more which I can afford?

Looking at these trades,
Gawn > Cameron
Neale > LDU
Cheeser > NDaicos

I think Chandler the main rookie I'm missing and I'm happy to let that ship sail.

Not sure whether to use a boost after all this week

Steele to Daicos via DPP for definite
Then need to choose Greene or Chesser to chandler - leaning towards Chesser

I have Mckenna, Wilmot, Ginbey, Goater, Ashcroft etc etc I’m not really missing any rookies if I get chandler in. Could get to Setterfield but would be trading O.Allen or Hopper. Not a fan of trading either. May just roll with 2 trades.

I do also have 316k ITB could upgrade Allen, Hopper or Jones to a premium on any line. May be worth it at this stage?

I have greater confidence that LDU is a top 10 mid, but having said that Setterfield should make enough cash anyway, that even if he doesn’t end up a top 10 mid he can be M8 and a luxury trade late in the upgrade cycle.
cash in bank is awfully handy with injuries everywhere.

My ranking went from 18k to 57k after a 2,010 in round to

Current team:

Docherty, Cumming, Ridley, Gibney, McKenna, Constable (Cowan, Wilmot)
Bontempelli, Petracca, Horne-Francis, Hopper, Worpel, Callaghan, Ashcroft, Mackenzie (Chesser, Bytel, Baker)
Darcy, Marshall (Madden)
Dunkley, Gulden, Taranto, Rozee, Bruhn, Sheezel (Phillipou, Rategulea)

Playing a straight bat is not going to get me anywhere and I need points on field.

Planned Trades:

Ridley, Chesser, Bruhn -> Dacios, Setterfield, Ziebell

Means I miss Chandler and Hollands, but if I don't make some points back, the season will be over.

Any further thoughts?
