While it doesn't explain the injuries to some of the younger guys, the Eagles list is ageing with a lot of their formally elite players in their last year or two (NN, Darling (not injured), Yeo, Bunga, McGovern, Shuey etc). This is now reflecting in the length of their injury list.

They doubled down after 2018 and overpayed for Kelly (Thanks!) which is really hurting them now.

Eagles need to retire these older guys next season (perhaps keep a few at the club in mentoring roles) and reload in the draft over the next few years or it's going to be pain for the forseeable future.
Completely agree

North Melb.
I would be surprised - in the games that I have watched North play, they like getting the ball into his hands as much as possible with his great decision making & execution. He is very important in transition for them, reminds me so much of how the pies used Daicos last year - playing that rebounding half back role is perfect for elite young talented kids coming into the AFL system to showcase their skills & decision making. Playing Sheezel fwd means he is reliant on North being able to transition the ball from defence to attack without him, every chance they struggle to do so which means his talents are wasted as not seeing enough ball.
Clarko is a brilliant football mind, he wants his most talented players involved as much as possible & in positions which makes the most of their talents - no doubt in my mind that he took note of how Daicos was used in his first year & wanted to do the same with Sheezel.
Spoken like a true SC coach...:)

I too would be surprised and disappointed if he was moved anywhere else.

Just going to make a point from a personal perspective for anyone that might be looking to go ultra early on Cincotta

Jordan Boyd is expected to play some minutes in the VFL this week after missing the start of the season with foot issues. He’s one that once fit I think comes straight back into our best 22. If fit, imo he would have played round 1 if it wasn’t for his injury. I know he’s very highly rated inside Carlton as well.

Not writing off Cincotta by any means, but I’d be cautious on him. Saad hopefully only misses the 1 week, and Doc hopefully back in 3 weeks. I think Boyd will push out Cowan/Cincotta

Both Sheezel and Ziebell have been excellent in their roles in defence this season. I just don't see how Hall, a 32 year old with chronic injury concerns, is going to upset the apple cart.

He needs to get named for a start!
Because Hall is one dimensional. He's only really going to be used in that role. Hard to see him not having an impact to some degree on JZ and Sheezel.

Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and waste a trade, especially if he is going to be managed and miss other games...
Think it reads more positive than that and thought comments made a few days ago suggested he would be back. Back issue, more question if he is managed through season but deal with that if it plays out that way.

If he regains form and gets picked in that half back role I think Hall will effect JZ scoring. It may also push Sheez forward as JZ is not good in that role. In 2021 when JZ and Hall played together nearly all of JZ big scores were when Hall did not play, was a sub or came off early injured. For the rest of the season Hall pretty much easily outscored JZ. So if he gets fit and finds form I could see him used in that role again. If he gets injured Sheez goes to the half back role with JZ.

Expect Hall comes in. Will be watch and see for those of us with Sheezel and Ziebell. It will be annoying if he impacts them and we trade them out then Hall is injured again.

Hall has seemed to impact Ziebell before, loves a kick out as well.

Do you think Saad is really only 1 week or is it a sneaky chance to extend to 2 or 3 weeks?

He started his career at Gold Coast as a forward, hopefully a Clarko remembers the day he kicked 5 against his hawks at the MCG and decides to throw him back up forward…leaving Ziebell and Sheezel to continue their seagull ing ways…

Agree that the story is positive, however with GC playing late Sunday it is just too risky to keep holding him. Apparently from Gawn and Grundy, there is no one else to bring in after he plays.

I get the issue. Appreciate tough call, think sometimes though our fears can cause us to jump at shadows. Wait and see if he is selected and how confident they speak of him playing. If he is a test on the day then sure, trade away. Look at how many traded Sean Darcy even though they knew he would ton up against Eagles. I would wait, give Gawn two weeks to come down in price and sideways Witts then.

You never know what Clarko will do. But Ziebell has scored poorly historically when both McDonald and Hall play. Not sure how Sheezel impacts that trio.
I wouldn't call 100 ave over 9 rounds at the back end of 2021 poor. Granted, his ave did drop compared to the first half of the 2021, but that first half was unsustainable anyway, so its hard to know how much of the drop off was due to Hall and McDonald.

He's also currently going at 100 ave with McDonald and Sheezel filling Halls role, so I don't see how Hall coming in changes that unless they stupidly try to fit all of Sheezel, Ziebell and Hall in the backline, or move Ziebell forward which is equally stupid given how little he offers there.

Pretty sure it was 90 with the 3 of them in the team
Hall probably costs a few ppg with kickins.
