Posted a question above about Majak.

Do you think this applies to why he is not listed as a ruck (just a human deciding that he doesn't play there)?
In the Home and Away games I don't recall seeing him play a lot in the middle of the ground. Most likely just heat mapping showed he spent x amount of time in the forward half and was therefore classed as forward only?

What are peoples thoughts with starting TBC as a Ruck now that Kruezer is injured with the plan that once Kruezer comes back you upgrade a forward rookie and use the DPP in TBC to bring in Kruezer who IMO is the best value of the crop this year. Then as the forward line is completed move TBC to F7 where he combined with Read can cover two lines and score some points with loop holing as well. He isn't a huge investment and could easily save 1 - 3 trades throughout the year across both lines.

My other thought is Goldy instead but this will mean I cannot grab Kruezer when (if?!) he gets on the park. I guess the problem is that if TBC averages 80 and then Kruezer averages 90 - 95 while Goldy averages 105 then I could be quite a few points down to save 274k on my starting squad. However if it saves me 2 trades (effectively another 300k @ 150k per trade) plus the money gained from Kruezer if I upgrade him once he jumps up 150k then TBC over Goldy could potentially be worth 620k minus Goldy's increase of course if he does average 105...

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think they should do what i suggested they do, but if they did, it would make sense. It's possible they learnt from previous years that Sandi/Beams' autopick status was not good for the game.

Purely speculating of course...
I think you're right

I think they look at what happens each year and tweak next year as required and as they see fit. They want to make their game as challenging as possible and they'll price however they want to achieve that result and avoid auto-picks. They have never released any official pricing formula that I am aware of. Every year there are outliers we don't understand.

They'll probably intercede with Libba's price next year too.

Again, I think the idea is great in theory, but again - why was it not applied to Beams and Sandilands last year?

Surely they were the very definition of "obvious bargains".

Yeah they can only really give him a 10% discount which nearly makes him an auto lock, at 20% or 30% it will just mean every team basically has 1 less player to pick and 450k(ish) less :)

I'd say they've probably learnt from last year, pretty much every team had those 2, makes it better for the game imo not having auto locks each year

Why is it that i have not seen much mention about Lobe in discussions on ruck combos?

Sounds promising :D

Nic Nat set to play first match of 2015 on Sunday

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-03-17/nic-nat-set-to-return

NIC NAITANUI will finally play his first game of 2015 against Fremantle on Sunday, but West Coast coach Adam Simpson said it will be the only match he plays ahead of round one.

The star ruckman has had a strong pre-season but hasn't featured in any of the Eagles' pre-season matches against the Indigenous All Stars, Carlton and Port Adelaide due to back-related tightness.

West Coast has the option to play some players in the WAFL on March 28 ahead of the round one clash with the Western Bulldogs on April 4, but Simpson said Sunday's NAB Challenge match will be Naitanui's only hit-out of the pre-season.

"You'll see him play (this week), definitely," Simpson said at the Eagles' season launch at Crown Perth on Tuesday morning

"I would've thought 70-80 minutes would be around about the time we're looking for. We'll manage that in a way that's different than we would in round one.

"He's probably a game off being absolutely cherry ripe. But we think a good hit-out this week, see how he pulls up, and get him for round one."

Fingers crossed that NN puts in a good game with no injury concerns.
I don't want to keep changing my ruck selections!

I cant see this being a huge problem for his scoring though tbh. Ryder is much more versatile and i can see him playing up forward more and pinch hitting in the ruck, so this should allow lobbe to swing across the backline. More a combo like nic nat and cox. Cox's scoring output was not hindered by nic nat. its an interesting one..

Could be a good POD then if you want to back him.

That is certainly the reason he isn't being looked at overly closely. In saying that, the two best SC ruckman of the past 10 years, Cox and Sandi, have generally played with a partner in crime.

Lobbe is one that interests me too, lays a lot of tackles and is always in the thick of the play, Ryder's influence the only question mark...his SC average has progressed nicely over his career though

2010 40.3
2011 75.4
2012 70.8
2013 86.1
2014 100.7
2015 105-110???

Could Sam Naismith (SYD) $150K be the answer to our R3 dilemma?

Not sure about his JS and how he fits into team structure when the real season starts but did play all 3 NAB games with reasonable TOG. Now before you all get excited, his SC average over the 3 NAB games was a 'measly' 33.7 (17,34,50) with approx. 77 TOG%, at least his SC is trending upwards!

If he's named RD1, could be our answer to a cheap playing R3 to at least make some money and potentially provide some cover for our 'fragile' Rucks.

I reckon the extra 47.6k, dpp link and captain loophole option that Cox provides will be more valuable.

Maybe I am missing something but I struggle to see how Mason Cox is actually a great choice to use as loophole agent considering Collingwood will rarely play games in back half of each round. Collingwood play a lot of gamess early in rounds so reduces use of loophole option when glance at draw and see Collingwood play game 1, game 3, game 1 and 1 from rounds to 3 through to 6 as just one example.

I hope lots of people pick him though. ;)

Let me quickly glance at draw.
Yep. Geelong game 9 in round 1, game 7 in round two, game 8 in round three, game 8 in round four certainly helps in early part of season. Not checked it out fully. I prefer my loophole agents if I pick any to be playing on a Sunday if they can or at Saturday night game at worst. Certainly looks a viable option over Mason Cox by a long way.

With Leuey scoring 72, 44 and 96 this preseason are people who have him happy with that? Martin seemed to have scored better in the games they were in, does that spell confirmation to fears about his ceiling?

I am off him. Can't afford a 50/50 rucking and forward duty player at R2. Not going to score or earn enough judging from NAB cup scores.
