What is your opinion of him?
Very worrying that he can't even dominate 40% of his VFL games. He has had the odd big game and thats it. We know the taller blokes take time etc but if he doesn't get some consistency in the VFL this season then I can't see how he will be an AFL player. Minson took ages to become an AFL level player but you could always see a glimmer of something, with Cordy all that springs to mind is he kicked 5 goals in a VFL game once lol.

Take a look at Maric and Blicavs. Played other sports as juniors. Maric has ended up an elite ruckman and Blicavs at least has worked himself into Geelongs best 22

Good to hear another doggies opinion on Cordy. I am just worried that we have TWO CORDY'S on the list now :( Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee are going to give me headaches and heartaches for years to come. At least Tom Campbell did well in the VFL "Brownlow", coming in top 5 I think.

That is some scary information right there.

one example - Goldstein is listed as one of the four ruckmen best affected by the change in rules, and yet under the new rules his average would have dropped from 107 to 97 last year.

Minson, one of the worst affected, would have averaged 82 as opposed to his actual 95.

Food for thought.....

Any examples of ruck types average jumping by 10 points per game due to this type of change ?

All ruck players' averages would have decreased under the new rule.

Sam Jacobs was the BEST affected, and his average would have moved down seven points, from 118 to 111

I don't know how they get a 118 average for Jacobs, when it was 115.something from memory.

Cool. Thanks heaps mate.
Last year in FDL draft did not draft a ruckman to round 17 and 18. Took Jacobs and Sandilands then.
Maybe should have done the same this pre-season...

Anyway, thanks for info. Really helps me decide my plans for games like SC and FDL.

115.36 to be exact
They could be including finals. However, players such as S.Martin and Minson are out according the various sources (Supercoach gold, footywire, tooserious). Furthermore, changing from 1 for HO and 3 HOA to only 5 for HOA I'm getting a large variance on their figures. They've got access to all the data and exactly how it's scored, but I can't work out how they've come to those figures.

Extract in relation to the new ruck scoring, I typed this out word-for-word for a clearer read.
From AFL Prospectus 2015.....

Champion Data Ranking Points

During the 2014 off-season, the Champion Data ranking points system was given a major review. As a result, there will be a few changes made to the scoring system this season with ruckmen being effected more than any other position type.
When Champion Data ranking system was first developed in 1999 there was an average of 47 around the ground stoppages (throw-ins/ball ups) per gameand the No.1 ruckman in the competition, averaged 27.5 hitouts.
Around the ground stoppages have steadily risen in the years since, reaching a peak of 67 per game in 2014, with 12 ruckmen averaging more than 27.5 hitouts. As a result, the rankings values have been changed around the ruck contests, with the clear goal to give greater value to ruckmen who win the ball around the ground and are more effective with their hitouts.

In 2015, rather than awarding one point for all hitouts, there will be zero points allocated, but the value of a hitout-to-advantage has risen from three points to five, rewarding quality over quantity. The points allocated to the player that wins a gather from a hitout has also dropped slightly, as more credit will be given to the effective hitout.
When applying the new formula to the 2014 H&A season, all averages of the ruckmen decrease, but to differing levels. Those elite tap ruckmen who also win the footy around the ground decrease the least, while Grant Thomas' favourites, the dinosaurs, who offer little outside the ruck contest will drop significantly.

As a guide here are the five ruckmen who are effected the least. Sam Jacobs not only serves the ball to his rovers on a platter, he now offers plenty around the ground averaging 16.3 disposals per game in 2014 -second to Brisbane's Stefan Martin.
(Table showing stats from Sam Jacobs, Stefan Martin, Aaron Sandilands, Todd Goldstein & Shane Mumford)

On the flip side, here are five rucks you want to avoid if they produce the same output of 2014. Robert Warnock averaged just nine disposals per match and two tackles - both ranked below average. It's the hitout or nothing for Warnock. Avoid these rucks at all costs.
(Table showing stats from Robert Warnock, Mike Pyke, Mark Jamar, Tom Hickey & Will Minson)

At the end of the 2014 season there were 11 ruckmen in the top 100 players for ranking points per game. After the new formula is applied there are eight.
