Would also love to start Merret as i think he worked his head around the tag better as the season went on. The Addition of Shiel can only help free him a bit more you'd think. I started him this year tho which makes it harder to do again tho.

Yeah Dusty and Merrett are two very high up there for me. Both are underpriced on history. Dusty averaging a 110 would be a win in any case, doesn't need to be as good as his brownlow year. Merrett @110 would be a win too. Both also historically very durable which is a plus.

The problem is that Dusty has never ave over 110 other than his spike year. 108 is the best he has had. His 103 this year is closer to his normal ave and would you want a him if you knew he would produce another 103 or 105 ave year?

Surely with Lynch added to the tigers fwd line dusty will play less time in there. I think tigers will still be very dominant but will come back to the field some what, more to do with other teams natural progression. Meaning Dusty needed in the middle to do his thing.
Av of 103 this year. I don't think he'll be cheap again for a while. Hopefully is fully fit when he starts his preseason. Way to.much upside on his price not to start.
Initial feeling is that Lynch might actually hurt Martin's ceiling, as he may have reduced opportunity to be isolated one v. one in the forward 50 . From memory, a lot of Martin's big games in 2017 were from kicking match winning goals from one v. one contested situations.

108 from 22 games is still a win. I won't disagree that his 118 avg year might have been a spike year, but that doesn't change the fact that with more midfield time (due to Lynch's inclusion) he should be able to push back to a 108-110 avg from 104 this season (where he spent lots of time fwd and was also carrying injuries). Strong history of 22 games is the main figure that is attractive for starting selections.

I think if the tigers are challenged deep in the last there's a good just Dusty would be fwd anyway at that time so the winning goal scores for his high cielings are still a good chance.

I think Dusty played a lot of time Fwd was because Richmond lacked goal scorers? With now Lynch (Riewoldt and Caddy) up there, I don't think they need Martin up forward as much (maybe only to rest him there at times). Martin is just too good at hitting targets up forward.
Things can change if some of Richmond's fwds are injured though, hmmm.

Blakely a chance to pick up some of Neales mid minutes? 85 av this year could easily add 10+ to that with a few mid rotations. Another juicey defence option.
How much will this kick in rule effect players like Lloyd who will cost big $$$ to start?
Hanley anyone?

Some more info on Blakely:

Who will step up as Nat Fyfe's sidekick?
Over the past three seasons, Connor Blakely has shown he has all the tools to become a star of the competition and in 2019 the 22-year-old is likely to be thrust onto centre stage as Fremantle attempts to plug the sizeable midfield gap left by dual Doig medallist Lachie Neale. Blakely has played plenty of football across half-back in recent times, with coach Ross Lyon valuing his decision-making and ball use coming out of defence, but his future is as a big-bodied onballer who can win the footy around stoppages and get damaging forward of centre. Replacing Neale's 30-odd composed touches a game won't be easy, but Blakely has had seven games with at least 30 disposals in the past two seasons and looks in good nick after a knee injury cut his 2018 short.

Even if Lynch didn't arrive at tiger land i'm locking him in for 2019. I think most teams will start dusty so will just be another one of those guys in over 50% of teams

In terms of starting Dusty, I'm not convinced "most" teams will start him.

In no particular order,

TMitch
Danger
Fyfe
Macrae
Beams
Jelly
Zerrett
Neale

I dont agree. I think that when people compare his price (576k) and possible dual position (M/F) with the over 700k of Mitch (716k) and Macrae (705k), they might prefer him. At this stage I Certainly prefer him. Currently I have Danger, Fyfe and Dusty as starting premium together with Grundy.

How many times has he gone 110+ as an average?

If he’s M/F he’s in 95% of serious teams to start the year you’d think, same with Danger. As a pure mid I’d wager that percentage would almost half.

Outside of his Brownlow year he’s yet to return a season worthy of a midfield spot. Especially at a 580k starting price. Pretty simple equation for me. Gets a starting spot as a DPP forward or he misses out.

99.9% of teams.
Imagine a fwd line of Danger and Dusty. Wont happen but would create some different looking midfields. A good thing if you ask me

I know pretty much for a fact that Dusty will not get forward status, he barely started in the forward line at centre bounces after the first 6 or so games and was at 26% after R13. There was an article after R13 with the following stats:

Player / Midfield Time / Forward Time / Defence Time
Dustin Martin (Rich) 74% / 26%
Elliot Yeo (WCE) 73% / 12% / 15%
Luke Parker (Syd) 63% / 37%
Christian Petracca (Melb) 48% / 52%
Patrick Dangerfield (Geel) 61% / 39%
Jordan de Goey (Coll) 37% / 63%
Robbie Gray (PtA) 44% / 56%

You need 35% to get DPP

Freako said it was very very close heading into the first final with Danger. Parker is an interesting one and it would be nice to know the final stats on Heeney and Bont. Yeo is definitely only a mid next year as well

I don't think they will have Dusty m/f because CD will want to keep position options open. If he was m/f I think he would be in 99.9% of teams as a forward. As a pure mid he has a lot more competition and is no lock. I don't know how CD calculate "forward time" and FF are not gospel by any stretch but they have him listed as rotating mid/forward in 7 H&A games after rd 13. Time will tell I guess.
