Hatley or Milera who would you pick?
Both are priced at around a 58 average and to be a viable pick, probably need to get that average to the 85-90 mark. Hately has exceeded 85 in 3/13 games, Milera 16/62 (14/38 if you exclude his first two seasons).

Milera looks the better prospect of paying off, but he's still a risky selection to me with 62 games in 5 seasons.

I was leaning more towards Milera

Would love people’s thoughts on what strategy will be more likely in 2021

Guns & rookies V mid price madness

Is having Milera/Hately/Ziebell types @ D4/F4/M6 etc over kill?

Is minimising rookies on field whilst not starting the Uber premos like Lloyd for example really the way to go?

Would love your thoughts..
At this stage I’m going Milera ziebell and rozee

Ummmmm am I the only one that has the new site saying I have 37 trades available ?

  • You'll then be able to trade up to a maximum of 2 players after the conclusion of each round (and up to 3 in multi-bye rounds 12, 13 and 14), with a total of 37 trades available for the entire season. You can make ONE or TWO trades at once (and up to THREE in multi-bye rounds). Players may be traded right through the week and during the rolling lockout, up until each player's match has begun.

Nope... 37 trades for me too... Not sure I like this change. I like the limited trades and the strategy involved.

Yes. The rules say that now. :)

Use them now, because that won't last long.

Finally got in on my other computer and it seems it gave me an autofill team. I'm a bit surprised as it is reasonably similar to the first team I created this season (22/30 the same)...

Lloyd, Laird, Daniel, Howe, Grainger-Barras, Eyre (Laurie, Winder)

Macrae, Mitchell, Walsh, Rowell, Hately, Powell, McInnes, Downie (Phillips, Gulden, Davies)

Gawn, Grundy (Treacy)

Dangerfield, Dunkley, Heeney, Macrae, Cook, Ford (Rowe, Bowey)

$39,900 cash.

Just recording this, as I'm interested to see how an autofill team does compared to whatever I manage in Rd 1.

With no BBL for 3 whole days! I've just finished going through about 80+ pages of this thread!

First locked is clearly.... Josh Treacy! Always love a good FD loophole.

First crack for 2021!
DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Zac Williams, DGB, Jones, Gould (Wehr, Highmore)
MID: Neale, Macrae, Oliver, Freoshaw, Cripps, Phillips, Pedlar, Powell (McInnes, Downie, Davies)
RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Treacy)
FWD: Marshall, Dusty, Heeney, Macrae, Cockatoo, Durdin (Rowe, Laurie)
Cash leftover: 32.3k

DEFENCE:
D1: Lloyd - Did not own him at all last year and it was the death of my season. Even at his price, I'm just gonna lock him in now rather than waste a million trades to get him in.

D2: Laird - caused me so much misery during the first half of the season, became a great POD once he switched to the midfield. Lockity lock.

D3: Zac Williams - Hopefully will get the mid time as promised.

Watchlist: Ryan, Whitfield, Daniel & Docherty.

MIDFIELD:
M1: Neale - It will be my 3rd season starting the reigning Brownlow Medallist. Also one of my 4 C options.

M2: Oliver - He seems to start off slow every year. But he always has at least that one big game every year so I don't want to miss out on it.

M3: Macrae - Started him in round 1 last year... and then traded him out. One of the worst mistakes I made. I blame the extra 5 trades and the long break between round 1 and 2 for doing this. Won't matter if there's 21 other midfielders competing with him... Macrae is all class. Is also the 2nd of my 4 captain options.

M4: Brayshaw - This is one pick I'm a bit unsure of. Great role and hopefully he can improve on it. If I can find some extra funds, will try to bump him up to one of those injury prone guys in Jelly or Fyfe.

M5: Cripps - Gun priced at under 100 average? Thank you.

Watchlist: Petracca, Bont, Jelly, Fyfe & Mitchell (if fit).

RUCK:
R1: Gawn - Got too cute last year and tried to go for value in Naismith and avoided Gawn most of the year. Traded him in for a big score and then accidentally traded him out 2 rounds later which became one of my best moves of the season when he was out injured. Then traded Gawn back in towards the end of the season. Wasted 3 trades in the ruck, so not gonna mess around in this line. I've learnt my lesson and set and forget Grawndy combo it is.

R2: Grundy - Had a down year but still managed to do ok. Is underpriced for what he can produce and is also the final C options in my side. (Makes a better VC option for the first 3 rounds.)

Watchlist: Goldy, Nicnat & Preuss (If I like to torture myself again ).

FORWARDS:
F1: Marshall - Such a bonus to have the DPP. Ceglar was my R/F last year and was terrible. One of the worst starting picks ever. Big O was great, unlucky not to have DPP again. Hopefully Marshall plays more ruck this year.

F2: Dusty - with that grand final performance alone, deserves a spot in my side. Beast.

F3: Heeney - underpriced and can score so well even without the midfield time. Just hoping he's over the ankle injuries.

Watchlist: Danger(if fit), Dunkley, Zorko, Walters, Bolton & Ziebell.

Summary:
Think I got most of the popular rookies but obviously they'll change with the preseason games. Last season there were always 3 players who I was always deathriding and it never seemed to work, so I told myself I need to just start them so that I could enjoy the footy more. Those 3 are Lloyd, Macrae & Gawn. Mitchell & Danger were locks but just read about their injuries. Have always been sucked in to midprice madness mayhem. It might be the first year I'll try a pure G'n'R strategy should the rookies show up.

That sounds risky as it could be very depressing 🤣🤣🤣

37 trades was only viable due to lockdown, its ridiculous if we get a largely normal season, you'd have to **** up beyond all recognition to use that many trades.

I wouldn't worry. Surely just a stuff-up. There's no way they would do that without announcing (and it would ruin the game), and there's no way they would just happen to choose 37 as the number.
I just logged in and I only have 30 trades so maybe they have udpated? - I hope y'all don't have 37 as then i am really screwed hahaha
