Last year I started with an under priced Ruck on the bench in Naismith and I feel Hickey will be the Pittonet of this year.
Considering both Preuss & Hickey save $84,100 over the purchase of Grundy and provide backup in case of injury.
Hickey at $261,100 is priced at a high end rookie who will get games and generate cash and I have omitted Marshall in favour of Martin but that may change.

Looks like a HS wishlist rather than 'the coach said'. Clarko isn't as bad as Magnets but it is still tough to trust him re player roles and positions.
If Impey plays "PP" role then I think you guys' are cooked - great speed and generally a great kick, I'd have him off HB or even a High HF delivering the ball in ?! Which makes me like him for a SC spot down forward...

I think this looks pretty good. I don't like the expensive R3 as it takes 150k off the field that should be scoring for you. I also think Grundy, Cripps and Marshall are three important starting picks that you've missed out on. If it were my team I'd change Neale, Gawn, Hickey ($1,734,300) to Cripps, Grundy, Marshall ($1,729,100) (Treacy to R3). You get an extra premo out of it, which saves on trades, and I'd be surprised if it didn't score significantly better (I'd have Cripps within ~10 of Neale, Grundy within ~5 of Gawn and Marshall about +50 on a rookie, making for a ~35 advantage). Some of that may be o***et by captaincy factor but I doubt it will be strong enough to even things out.

Would love people’s thoughts on what strategy will be more likely in 2021

Guns & rookies V mid price madness

Is having Milera/Hately/Ziebell types @ D4/F4/M6 etc over kill?

Is minimising rookies on field whilst not starting the Uber premos like Lloyd for example really the way to go?

Would love your thoughts..
Hard to tell before we get a sense of how many cheap rookies are starting and look like scoring ok. Most will say that they always turn up but there are factors that make it possible it's a tougher year for cash gen than usual, which would tilt us more towards a midprice team. And at this stage it certainly seems like there's a lot of appealing midprice value around.

These questions are still mostly around the margins though and even what we call a midpricery team would usually have about 10 solidish premo picks to build around. What you describe doesn't sound like overkill to me at the moment. If you think Lloyd can score similarly to last year he's not a bad pick but personally I would never spend that much on a player I didn't have in my captaincy considerations.

How does Cripps being flagged to spend more time in the forwards affect his scoring compared to a similarly priced Walsh?

I like the Walsh pick so I don't think it's an either/or. To be honest I haven't read those articles but they're pretty much par for the course this time of year. He is an elite mid in the prime of his career and I don't see any scenario other than injury where they play him forward enough that it makes him a bad pick.

He’s pretty tall for a mid and can take a contested mark. Absolute shocking kick for goal though so if he’s resting fwd instead of going to the bench he might be a sneaky chance for a snag or 2 but he’s wasted spending too much time up there.
