When was the last time it was viable to run 123K rookies from either D4/F4 down?

Feel like I've seen a lot of teams doing this, obviously early days but I doubt we get that many playing rookies....
Agree

Hollands looks the best bet of the 123K rookie fwds, maybe Combden/Skinner (def also) & Kelly but I wouldn't be comfortable starting more than 1 in Defence or in the Forwards on the field at this early stage.

Isaac Heeney is set for a change in role next season, he will spend more time playing a midfield role in 2022 according to Sydney senior coach John Longmire.

With the Swans losing both George Hewett & Jordan Dawson in the off-season there are opportunities in the midfield available, Longmire outlined his plan for Heeney in an interview on Sportsday earlier this week.

When Longmire was specifically asked if Heeney could see a 50/50, 60/40 or a 70/30 midfield/forward split in 2022 he replied:

“I think that he’s probably getting up towards that.. a bit more in the midfield now.””

“He got through this season quite well,”

“At the back end of the year he was training really well & able to play games out really well.”

“He naturally keeps himself in fantastic shape, so we’ll be playing him a bit more in the midfield this year.”

“We think he can still play in the midfield & push forward, probably be about 70/30 type split.” Longmire said.

The Swans recently began their pre-season campaign, Longmire was also cautious at the length of time prior to the start of the 2022 H&A season.

“Once again it’s only the pre-season & we’ll use him where we need him, but we’d like to play him more in the midfield.” Longmire added.
Heeney averaged 15.9 Disposals, 5.7 Marks, 2.0 Tackles & 1.7 Goals from 21 games for Sydney in 2021.

Fantasy Impact: A move into more of a midfield role for Isaac Heeney would certainly provide an opportunity to increase his fantasy scoring output, he averaged 77.2pts from 21 games in 2021.

The available opportunities in the midfield & the positive outlook from John Longmire do align for Heeney, he was used at minimal centre bounces in 2021 so his 2022 role could be a mix of outside/inside midfield.

His role would be a critical watch during pre-season games, his fantasy scoring potential could easily exceed his 2021 output.

Heeney would be a strong consideration at Round 1 in season long fantasy, there will be more information available throughout his pre-season on his exact midfield role & potential centre bounce usage.

The annual conundrum about picking Heeney has started early this year :ROFLMAO:

Do we believe Horse or not.... history says no we can't but Heeney is such an elite talent he has to be considered at 454K

With Hewett & Dawson gone along with Kennedy on his last legs, you can see the opportunity for more midfield minutes is certainly there for him & it must be appealing for the swans to have another classy player joining Mills in the engine room.

Treloar is so tempting at his price, just his soft tissue injury history the last few years is a real concern.

Here is his SC history :-

If Bailey Smith isn't right to go at the start of the season, he could be the real beneficiary (along with Dunkley) - at 483K with Fwd/mid status he is worthy of consideration.
The real concern is that he plays for the doggies any other team and his a no brainer

Interesting! I tend to see that as a bad thing for a pure MID, and a good thing for a FWD or DEF eligible player.

trealor has to be the worst kick in the comp, for him to score well he needs 1000 kicks a game. I think he is played out of position a bit last year due to the dogs unbelievable midfield.

He's seriously tempting this year.

Midfield time is nice but he's also underpriced, role was genuinely better to end last year and scoring went with it.

Interestingly Horse is actually pretty trustworthy in what he says, when he says someone will have a role they generally get a good shot at that role, his problem is generally not putting the best players in their best positions but once he finally works it out he tends to be pretty good sticking with it.

Biggest issue, as always with Heeney, is durability. The reason he's underpriced is limited preseason into playing with injuries, which is arguably better than missing games but it's genuinely debatable.

For mine, same story as always, if he has a perfect preseason (he's never even had a decent one) then he's very high on the list, imo, because his talent level is absurd, he scores very well playing out of position and Sydney really need him in the midfield long term but with his durability record if he doesn't have a great preseason I think this year there are just too many other viable options to really be worth that risk.

That said, no reason he can't match Mills output last year, role should be similar and talent is as good, possibly better, he still scores when forward and should get more chances to kick goals pushing forward than he did as a pure forward.

Lot of other options though so needs to be ticking all the boxes this year.

While watching the BBL , I found a game we can play

Player A has played 83 H&A games in the last 6 seasons , but the majority will gush all over him this season.

Player B has played 107 H&A games in the last 6 seasons and will be much maligned (again , continually ) by the majority on here.

Both can be picked as forwards.

Fun fact , Player A's father played for Player B's team 😀

A is Dunkley, B is Heeney.

I think both will be popular selections. Not sure I would say B is maligned, more not given some of the same opportunities to date as A. I'm considering both to some extent at this point, as I'm sure most are, but there's plenty of time to go before the first bounce. Neither are locks for me, mainly due to lots of interesting forward possibilities.

(Players are in white text above if you can't figure it out...)

Looking forward to the 10,000,000 posts again this season about Player B......not.

I have promised myself not to worry about it so much until the Round 1 rookies are actually known , initial quick look I had certainly was some value on offer in the forward line though.

Have my 2 rucks all locked in though
