McGuinness mentioned in the mix , been thinking of him & possibly linking with Ziebell as "luxury" D/F bench coverage down the track
Has the perfect bye and North are crying out for a key position defender. Unfortunately he still seems a bit undersized though.

Really hoping for our sake he gets a run over the bye period.

Need someone , anyone soon to free up McCartin's & SDK cash , $ 175k from each of them will be very handy for upgrades.

Sit (him) them at D8 , try and find a value D7 for cover.

D/F is a bonus.

It's not just anyone for me - it desperately needs to be a defender rookie from the Round 14 bye.

It's incredibly frustrating Charlie Dean & Will Kelly got injured :cautious:

I try not to overly worry about the Bye rounds , you think you are well placed with 18-20 available and next thing 3-4 are out rested/managed in any case , best laid plans ruined

It's even worse if you only have 15-17 available because you didn't worry about the byes and then you have another 3-4 out rested/managed though...

True that.

Although I guess it is what you are playing for whether its overall , league fun , league $$$ etc etc that can also dictate our Bye thinking too much

See so many people trade in/out player X , Y , Z just because of the Byes and not really consider if it is a long term benefit to their team or not (still 9 rounds to go after the Byes to make up points)

I am at the stage now where I will hopefully just trade in the players I want for the rest of the season , regardless of their Byes.

Just waiting for the next lot of DPP'S because 50% of my current onfield forward line may need to be changed , then could be carrying way too much cash on the bench , lot of thinking might have to change for the second half of the season.

Certainly have seen people rapidly rise up the rankings though with a very well thought out bye planning/structure

Maybe one poor Bye Round can be covered by 2 very good Bye Rounds

VFL player review Round 6:-

Luke Cleary

27 disposals, four marks, six rebound 50s

Luke is continuing to progress well – he was probably one of our better defenders. He also ended up playing a quarter on the wing to explore that possibility as well. He’s had a great few weeks as a defender now, and is making really good decisions. He reads the play and pressure on the ball well, and reads the flight nice and early too. He’s always first to move compared to his opponent, which is a great asset.

Round 5:-

Luke Cleary

19 disposals, five marks, two tackles

Luke played down back and had his best game since arriving at the Club. His contest game was very strong, and he was able to halve all of his 1v1s while helping out his fellow defenders when he could. His ability to gain possession and find teammates in traffic is a real strength of his game. Every week his game is building and becoming more and more balanced.

Round 4:-

Luke Cleary

18 disposals, six marks, four rebound 50s

Luke was pretty solid behind the ball again this week. His ability to win the ball at contest and find his teammates on the outside is a feature of his game. We are looking for a bit more physicality from him as a defender, so we can own more advantage in the contests he finds himself in, but we are happy with how he is going.

Sounds quite promising, good numbers & even played a 1/4 on the wing.

Shannon - maybe we will know the answer this week, who do you think the preferred ruck for Eagles between Strnadica and Jamieson (26% HTW/23% HTA).

Will Eagles play both and who is first choice ruck. Didn't see last weeks game.

Very hard to get a proper read on it, I believe all the possible rucks other than NN & Williams are available for selection this week so this week should tell us more. I do know that Harry Edwards isn't an AFL ruck at this stage & is far better as a tall defender.

Would be nice for Strn to get a block of games.
Yeah I’m banking on this too!
Bailey listed as a test I think

Really need to know they are all available and who is selected and see Strnadica listed in ruck role.

Happy to Give up Dixon that way, otherwise will wait and get English next week as back up.
