STANDING OUT
Gun ruckman Sean Darcy has become the latest big-name injury worry at Fremantle, sitting out of this morning’s light touch session with a thumb injury.

Darcy, who emerged as one of the competition’s premier ruckmen last season, watched on with a small brace supporting his left thumb.
The 2021 All-Australian squad member is set to miss Friday’s practice match against West Coast at Mineral Resources Park, but the Dockers expect he will be available for the return pre-season bout at Fremantle Oval on March 6 as a tune-up for round one.
Darcy had been managed recently with a minor Achilles issue but has enjoyed a strong summer on the track for the most part.
Fremantle will be keen to take a no-risk approach with the 23-year-old ahead of their season-opening trip to play Adelaide on March 20, as they target their first round one road win since 2014.

While i'm not sure there is too much to this, it is certainly shaping up to be a roller coaster ride for those game enough to pick him!

Wow, just wow.

Darcy is a tricky starting pick.

Probably not pc at the moment given eastern Europe but he feels a bit Russian Rouletteish!

What happened to Marshall!? I've had him all pre-season.
Nothing yet. Most seem to expect a 34 year old ruckman not to relinquish a significant amount of ruck contests whilst Marshall is to be relegated to the forward line in which he is not allowed to leave under any circumstances unrelated to attending ruck contests.

Ryder in doubt for round 1
I'd definitely prefer Ryder plays early, increases the chances that Marshall would get FWD which would be an enormous result for him. Would go from a very unlikely keeper chance to a very likely keeper chance.

This is assuming Ryder is going to play 12-15 or so games this year.

Worst result for Marshall is you've had to trade him out as a failing ruck pick only for him to get FWD status when it's all too late!

Regardless of the two premiums I decide to go with I still think I like Preuss at R3, gives you a bit of insurance and he could very easily end up one of the better cash cows of the season even if he's not a reliable enough R2, Flynn was in and out and made 200k from first price rise, see no reason why Preuss couldn't do the same provided he stays fit.

I think if starting Darcy, you probably need to pay up for Preuss at R3 or Jackson/English in the Forward line. I think Jackson and English are both close to standing on their own two feet as a selection. So for the premium you get as Ruck cover, I have no problem with either.
