I'm surprised there's not much talk about Wardlaw. His first game was very good, his second game was against Collingwood and for me looks perfect bench cover to see the season out, this season unfortunately I can't see myself with a low end M/F premium as bench cover so I might cash in Baker to him. Taking Ford and Wardlaw all but puts the nail in the coffin for a round 15 donut or two though.

Already in a horrible Round 15 situation so it doesn't make much sense to pick a rookie that wont help me there and is highly unlikely to be able to generate quick cash that I could flick at his bye with a 40 in the rolling.

Would be worried having my cover for the rest of the season being a guy who consistently has hamstring trouble aswell so dont think that's a great option personally.

What's the history and deal with his hamstrings

'It's a privilege': Gun mid George Wardlaw still in No.1 pick race despite luckless year (afl.com.au)
Ongoing injuries haven't dampened the spirits of George Wardlaw

..........GEORGE Wardlaw had barely been injured before this season. A broken nose last year set him back a week or two – a natural hazard when you are an aggressive ball-winner in the midfield – but nothing of much note. "I've never had a soft-tissue injury before this year," he told AFL.com.au.

However, this season luck turned against Wardlaw, who has shaped as a potential No.1 pick in this year's NAB AFL Draft class. A hamstring injury he picked up whilst training at his school St Kevin's College then had an aggravation just as he was set to resume, before he returned for his school's final game of the season. That lasted five minutes, before another strain of the same hamstring saw him on the sidelines icing his leg watching on.........

.....Wardlaw is matter-of-fact about his injury run, and could have played in the final Vic Metro game against Vic Country in Grand Final week but opted to take a cautious approach about four weeks after his most recent strain. Even that was not a significant tear, allaying questions on his durability.

"I got an MRI on that and the results were pretty positive, it wasn't the same injury, it was a bit higher up and it's basically very low grade and they barely considered it a strain," he said........

........"It's weird because the majority of this injury I've felt almost 100 per cent most of the time. There was a period of about three weeks there where I was doing everything right and I was back to normal. There was that relapse, which was annoying, but I know I've gotten through it and will be back," he said..........

It's the cash. We're getting to the frantic upgrade part of the season (at least for me) and having that extra money from bringing in Ford over Wardlaw is a free trade given a lot of my other options are sitting around the $100k made mark. I don't have any obvious outs other than Wilmot given upcoming byes for the other rookies, and my Ratugolea (the other obvious downgrade option for me) > Briggs trade is more about points covering for Darcy across the bye weeks than money (though the prospective money gain is a nice bonus).

I'm surprised no one is talking about Redman, and people are discussing Ridley after his role changes earlier in the year. Sure he is cheaper and his BE is juicy, but he has a poor record against NM, yet Redman, whilst being more expensive has a great record? Has a 55 BE, but not even mentioned in any of Honeyball's charts?

At the moment it's Roberts to Ford, but if Davey is not in I will trade Davey. The risk of him being a sub and losing even more is too much.

If not for bench cover, then he could be a nice avenue to C Mills post byes if in need of filling the M8 spot.

Is Simpson gone? If I trade him instead of Wilmot this week I can get Cincotta on field in mids.

It's the price Ead, 90k more for roughly the same average. Sure he has more 100+ scores to his name but also throws in some low ones, Ridley appears more consistent, I'm bringing in Ridley for Wilmot this week dispite a rd 14 bye.

I get the price, but I was burnt by Ridley earlier this season, and a slight role change will drop his score again. I think Redman is worth the $$. Takes the majority of kick-ins, and won't get the role change that Ridley has often got. Just my opinion of course ;)

I cant decide between

Chandler/Wilmot > Ford/Stewart
Vs
McKenzie/Hollnds > Ford/Wines

Thinking long term rather than bye situation
advice welcomed
Stewart vs Wines has me favoring the first option. Better bye and a proper top liner.

Wines worth a punt? Any Port supporters know if he’s over the niggles he’s been playing with? $42k to move Ashcroft to him is tempting
