That's a great point - hadn't looked at him in as much detail but his finish to last year was great. And unlike a few others, he only needs 22-27 touches to have really solid scores. Might have convinced me. Plus the savings on him means I can get Allen up to JHF this week as well if I feel i need the scoring.
Yeah I keep coming back to Rioli (if you already made your Stewart trade you can update it if you like).
The kid can play and is priced partially for his early season role last year which was down forward if I'm not mistaken? Richmond fans could back me up or correct me on that one. Like you said, he seems to get the kick ins and lets face it, pace, skills, playing off half back in 2023. There could be a few ppg in value there before his price rise. Thinking of going Doc > Rioli next week because he will be a POD next to the others you mentioned (I already have Young) and I still have points to make up on the leaders. Otherwise I couldn't afford him but he is well on the radar as a smokey
I would be wary of selecting Rioli because:
- Ben Miller (Omitted), Jack Ross (Omitted), Rhyan Mansell (Omitted)
This means Mansell role of defensive forward is now Liam Baker which means Jayden Short moves back to his customary HBF.
But then again I could be totally and utterly completely wrong
Rioli heat map and position details all show he was playing in backline from round 1 last year. His position has been listed in the backline for every game last year. One game vs North he looked to pick up kicks forward of the centre, however, expect that was forward press possessions. Hard to justify on that, TT comments unless you have a view he is a much better player this year or more HBF than BP.
Not much talk about Cole anymore, I thought he actually seemed to be playing and moving quite well.
Phillips is annoying. Wanted to get him traded in this week but possibly he's the sub, again, why... twice in a row is it likely he comes on again early in the game, sensibly he should be pushed to next week to consider trading him in with Hollands.
Have already done Bruhn to Chandler although that could still be changed. I liked the way that Chandler presented overall, but, is he a round one bolter trap with questionable job security...rookies should really not be traded in until they put up a good score in round 2 and get selected for round 3.
Seems like some of these guys in the 500s who really showed up in round 1 could be team savers this year if they look good again and may need to be traded in before they rise in price and lose their value. Can see half a dozen 500k 'ers who are on the watchlist for next week. If Neale scores 95 again and de Goey scores 130 well, just saying.
Can't push everything to round 3 or potentially there wont be enough trades!!
Have currently brought in Cole for Stewart, but may adjust with Gawn going down. My only question is what happens with Yeo back. Think Cole holds the role and they shuffle Jayden Hunt, Gibney more up the ground. Defence though is now Cole, Hurn, McGov, Barrass, Duggan, Witherden, plus Hunt, Ginbey and Yeo. We probably need 9 defenders on at all times the way we are playing!
Trying to gather the best rookies I can both this week and next.
Jones>Bowes (109)
Bytel>Callaghan
Flanders>Phillipou
Yuh. Bytel is looking like an import into my squad after round 3 at this stage. Not sure why anyone would be booting him. He looked the part.
I will give Bowes an extra week to prove himself. Had kick outs Q1 and scored 58points, then another 50 or so over 3Q with few or no kickouts. He did look good and they want to get the ball in his hands, unlike Bruhn who players faded including Jesus Cameron who had Bruhn in space on 50m line and decide to dump kick on his left instead.
As a Bytel owner I flicked Bruhn to Sheezel last night so I could afford to take Bytel up to Callaghan so I didn't have to field Wilmot/Baker/ADJ (unfortunately no way to use Bytel as a looping agent), but this news is making me reconsider. Not sure if he even necessarily has a spot to come back into with Windhager also waiting in the wings but 1 week is a much better prospect than 3-4 which was rumoured a few days ago. On the other hand, it would not be surprising to see Callaghan carve us up on Sunday and GWS's early draw is juicy, though a wing role is a wing role. Wouldn't be surprised if he went 100+ again and then it's a big call whether to bring him in anyway.
He’s still in hospital 4 days later, on a drip to avoid infection. Must be a nasty cut that’s gonna need to be looked after. That’s a multi-week scenario for a fringe player, even a promising one, unlikely to be rushed back in. I’ve traded him to Callaghan.
Re Byter, I thought I read by the club he is out for 3-4 weeks. Infection, IV for several days is not good. Ross is saying he is not playing this week, he is not saying he is back in a few weeks. Still, I would hold as kid is a gun and maybe try to assess where he is at in a week or two.
Need some help on trades this week. Have Stewart, Gawn now injured, with issues around Bruhn, Jones, Fyfe, Flanders, Hopper (who I think is fine), Fergus Greene.
Was going Stewart (have Doc as the premium) to Cole (already done) and potentially was going to go for multiple upgrades next week subject to how things played out over weekend, or Flanders to COGs on Sunday as 2nd trade.
Now thinking Chandler whilst he was quiet Q2/3, he seemed to get the ball enough and is a reasonable target next week. Gawn also potentially will be traded.
Thinking this week have to close the eyes and now trade
Stewart to Daicos (may as well join/match masses and frees up $100k). Will get some tags.
Flanders to who? JHF/Worpel/Ziebell.
JHF has role and ceiling, Boak likely forward, should be a +90 player.
Worpel tough game this week, should be ok going forward.
Ziebell defence, has other players coming back, only circa 100 against Eagles, may have wanted more.
Leaning to JHF.
Next week likely Gawn to Witts/Darcy, Greene or Fyfe to Chandler, Bruhn to Worpel. Leaves Jones to hibernate for Bowes/Yeo.
Already have Callaghan, Sheezel, McKenna, Hollands type rooks, no Wilmot (who has questionable fitness).
