Noting his BE is 33, so I think we pick MJ if you think JVR cannot get more than two games. MJ will like go up $25k if he scored an 80, so still a chance next week.
I'm not enamoured with Erik (JVR) even though his scoring has good. He's one bad game in the wet away from being the scape goat for Brown or Gawn. Structurally, a mid is better for me too, with DWilliams a likely fwd downgrade next week.

Having said that, I'm still tossing up on my trades.

I can only give my reasoning for moving Sheezel back.

Currently have Chandler on the bench with the possibility of Williams being on the bubble next week, I reckon Wilmot/Cowan would be ready to, or near ready to trade, If I trade one of them to Williams (can't see any Def rookies being available) then I can move Sheezel back, field Chandler and get a poor scoring Def rookie off the field, shoring up my weak Def in the process.
Thanks, that makes sense. I think it comes down to who comes off field for the most part, but have seen an article or two that seemed to suggest it was a boon in its own right. The option is obviously handy, but an F getting D status is much less useful than an M getting F status, for example.

In the end its seems to be either Stewart or Dawson for we Docherty owners. Seems a flip of the coin.
Lucky dip. 2C.

I'm going with Kossie this week, his big score in rnd 1 will drop out after next week but he scored an 89 last week with 2.5, has a great run coming up, BE-24, he'll need to score well to make him worthwhile. I'm a long way back, but the potential for pts and cash gen is something I have to take a risk with. Trading Chesser to him to get things moving.
Definitely worth having a crack. I’d have been all over it if I had the cash, but just not in that position at the moment.

i'm in the same predicament.

I am ranked 50k and after top 5k last year, am looking to rise up the ranks.

So by selecting Saad, i have a pod who may will help me to rise up the ranks through his incredible consistency.

However, I like Stewart as an option as well, His r13 bye is suitable, and believe he has a much higher ceiling then saad. Also despite last years inconsistencies he had a fairly good year. He had two poor scores where he went 39 and 48 after he was injured and got tagged, and other then these games 14/15 games he scored above 95 and averaged 124.3. This provides me with confidence that he will be a strong pick this year as long as he stays fit and healthy.

bit of a 50-50, but i think i will go stewart.
Why not select both….strong consideration for taking Saad and Stewart

Yes, I could get JVR instead of Ryan. I have Ryan slightly ahead of him at this stage due to the possibility of being the number 1 ruck. Richmond play before Melbourne so I should be able to see where he lines up at the first CBA and make a change if necessary.

I like Ryan also due to his RUC eligibility (he’d be F8). Traded Darcy to Cameron to Nank to English so really want that coverage if possible.

Hate watching Pies and WB games atm without Daicos and English and seeing them kill it.

Option 2 is probably my second favourite but feels so wrong going to Darcy after what I’ve done and Grundy will need to be traded out once Gawn returns.
I can definitely see Ryan’s appeal if he’s the number 1 ruck. My impression is that a couple of Tigers supporters have been fairly firm in that that won’t be the case, and it might be optimistic fantasy coaches who are thinking differently, but I’d be happy to get him in if I’ve been too skeptical!

I'm going to stay the course no matter the consequences. I paid over $700K for him and my stubbornness refuses me to take that $50K loss to go sideways, especially since I already sidewaysed Neale into Clarry last week.
Agree…no way I’m trading Laird out…happy for people to offload him so he becomes more of a POD….
still averaging 102 and still think his better scores are ahead of him….

Totally agree about the Mid getting Fwd status, but there's a dearth of quality Def rookies raising their hands right now and the ability to trade out a Def rookie to a reasonable Fwd rookie will now be available

Started Dawson, so taking the other one now. Ziebell and Sheezel that can swing, and a good value Day, Sicily etc in a few weeks made me opt for the traditional premo on this occasion.

Oh this is interesting. In 2020 a Carlton defender averaged 129.3 over the first 4 but 77.5 over the next 8.
Grabbing Saad in round 5 only for him to score below 100 for the first time this season will hurt more than everything else I've had to endure so far (Gawn, DCam, Doch, Laird 50).

I'm steering clear of Saad, based on my poor luck alone lol.

As many will be running Sheezebi up front and both will get F/D I think if this situation the F getting D is more than handy given you send one to Def and then get extra flexibility. But agree that if say Macrae went M/F that would be very useful.

I’m interested to hear why some coaches aren’t keen on JVR this round.

$124k rookie on the bubble averaging 70 who will very likely play the required 6-7 games this season in order to make enough cash.

Will he play all 6-7 matches in a row? Possibly not, but does that really matter?

Surely he’s not being fielded every week so is it that big an issue if he possibly misses games throughout the season?
