Is it wise to quickly dismiss a player due to one performance (especially at his price range) and would you be able to expand on the reasoning for putting a line through him? Would the coaching staff place any significant bearing on the performance today comparative to the body of work over the preseason, VFL, etc?
Fair enough.. we’ve all got different opinions on players ranges. 105 feels ambitious though given it’s only 7 points down on his Brownlow year and that average was propped up by 6 scores over 130 (4 over 140).. I just don’t think he has that kind of ceiling anymore. He only had 6 scores under 100 that year too and I can see there being a lot more this season.
Think he can score ok, but no real standout attributes so unsure if hes a B22 piece of them. He'd outscore Windsor and Brown but these two have more talent and look worth persisting with over Laurie.
Laurie has had a good summer so not going to rule him out, but gets an X today.

I just did not see much of him and when i did it was nothing special. Didn't play hardly any midfield time. Melbourne had a lot not playing today who will be ahead of him. There is quite a few fwd rookie options this year that are now ahead of him. For example Steely green looked like a better option than him, who should get early opportunity.
No surprise at all really, too much risk attached for mine - can see him getting rested for away games & being a big sub candidate in the games he plays.

Alternatively his TOG may just get managed over 4Q'S which should benefit his scoring rate and consecutive games, although maybe take 15pts of his expectations. Need a 90 from him or a big spike score to get to 4425-450K to make 150k. Think he will do better than pessimistic expectations and be an ok pick, age is a bit of a factor. Also hasn't been playing even intra game, think it is every second.

Depending on the risk appetite of the coach but I feel he should only be viewed as a start or forget type to avoid the possibility of using two trades instead of one and should be traded before RD7 starts as a stepping stone to assess the premiums in the position ( first dual position announcements are end of RD6).

Totally agree. This is how I intend to use Fyfe. Stepping stone to round 7 and then hopefully pick up a decent scoring new M/F. Mind you it does seem a big ask to see Fyfe get 6 games in a row. Would you put money on it. I wouldn't?
