James Jordan is doing my head in.

An 80 is alright
But he just didn't look that good
An 80 is alright
But we went missing for quarters at a time
It might just have been first game jitters on a greasy night
But he just didn't look that good

I believe the song you are looking for is sung by Joe Cocker. The classic rendition sung live at the Fillmore East April 1970.

Thought I remember someone telling me old Joe fell off stage drunk when he was out here in Australia doing a concert a long time ago!

Gonna go google that now haha...

One thing to consider in relation to Heeney is the Swans’ forward line.

I only watched part of the game, fairly casually, and the commentators were suggesting that their forward line was too tall and wasn’t functioning well. There was a change made in the third quarter I believe, potentially McDonald to the deepest forward.

Amartey had 3 touches in 43% game time and kicked 1 behind before being subbed out, McDonald seemed to drop or have two grabs at a number of marks and only scored 30 SC from 8 touches and 1 goal (historically he has done very well when Buddy hasn’t played), and Mclean seemed to be doing well in the ruck but was on <0 SC for much of the game. He kicked two goals later on, but only salvaged a 44.

The Swans were playing a tough opponent and did manage to win the game, but I wonder how satisfied Horse might be with his forward setup.
Change was the opposite, McLean and McDonald switched as the deepest forward after McDonald had no impact as the deepest, he moved higher towards the end of first half but more importantly Amartey was subbed off and Wicks had a really good quarter and a bit. I really hope we go in without Amartey (or McLean, they're basically the same generic low impact tall person to kick to who clunks one every now and then).

Thanks. Happy to hear it as a keeper league owner of McDonald!

How did you view McLean in the ruck? I didn’t see a lot of it but he seemed to be pretty physical with Gawn, and took a lot of ruck contests in the snippets I saw.

You'd think Ladhams gets a crack just because he's there. Even if he does I don't think it would affect Grundy's rucking very much.

It's a chance, we always look better with the two talls. Horse just loves to play rubbish KPF, Ladhams would just be another. Grundy rested on the bench all night so would expect he rucks a similar amount anyway as no point having a wasted rotation and he played so well.

It's a high risk though, I hope we name Wicks and bring in someone like Co. Warner or Sheldrick as the sub. Hayward and Fox both play as 3rd tall types anyway, I always feel like Hayward as the 3rd tall is a huge competitive advantage because it makes him a really hard matchup at ground level where he recovers too quickly for most who can go with him aerially.

Horse is Horse though, so Ladhams in or just stick with Amartey is a sound guess of the least logical move. Like surely even he can realise that we took over the game pretty much from when he subbed out Amartey.

I do think you and Horse need to sit down in a quiet room with a impartial mediator and just hash out all of your issues.
Maybe buy him a beer after and just subtly slip some of your improvement ideas into the conversation.

Might be the beginnings of a great friendship

The last week before round 1 starts and SC teams are locked in is the period I look at players I hadn’t considered all pre season. Where I attempt to convince myself on how they are a sharp pick.

That’s why I currently have Charlie Dixon at F2.

I don't know what kind of access to SCS is available from prison but that feels like the most likely outcome

Warning to the idea of starting Daicos in the mids until we get a clearer picture of the top premiums.
Allows Houston, Ryan, Sheezel, Williams, Gibcus, Howes (Ried, Coffield)

Midfield would have Bont, Green, Daicos, Martin (have cash to go to premium though which I might do) + rookies. Gawn/Grundy in ruck and Flanders, Jackson, Heeney, Fisher + rookies.

Basically do I pass on Williams for an extra mid rookie. One to ponder..
