Nice structure.

Only Question is Flanders over Touk With how the byes are set up, i think we can only run one for the early rounds, For me i think Touk has a better scoring potential, but then who slots into F2.

Pre-Season will decide.
Yep, I agree that it’s only really viable to start one of Flanders and Miller and that Miller probably has the better scoring potential but for me, I genuinely don’t like any of the other options in the forward line other than Macrae and Flanders.
Flanders also averaged 106 across the last 10 rounds last season and if he keeps that up should be a top 2 forward alongside Macrae!

The main concern I have with Flanders is his role over the last 10 rounds was under King and I'm not sure how Hardwick will use him? If he uses him like they did in the last 10 rounds Flanders will be a top 6 forward. Need to wait and see how he goes in first few games to maybe bring him in after 2 rounds if his role looks good. I currently have Miller in my side because he is underpriced on what he's put out in 2021 & 2022.

Always a concern on the RK Line. Jordan Sweet on the move to PA. Crazy cheap if he can get the #1 RK role at PA.

Gawn / Grundy - Sweet at R3
Is it silly to consider Grundy/Soldo with Sweet on the bench as this will give you at least 1 Port ruckman each week plus Grundy and if 1 if the Port rucks get injured I'd feel comfortable the other 1 will come in for him the next week? Gives you about $200-$300k to invest someone else?

My Approach will be as follows.

Gawn -Sweet RD5
Grundy - Sweet RD 6

Will lose a few points overall, but ensure cash generation from all 3. And you have set & forget RK line deep into the season.

I certainly would agree with this set up if Sweet was pencilled in for the first gig as Port's number 1 ruck. He is still probably 1 of the best cheap ruck options that is a chance to play. Gawn is certainly value but I am a little worried about his age and with no good ruck forwards I'm leaning towards the set-up of English/Grundy as a set and forget ruck line. Good luck.

The only issue with Xerri is if he gets injured or doesn't perform, at his price there's very few options if he goes down.
Matt Flynn is one to consider at that price point with NN retired/ recruited to be the main ruck. Simmo has stated he sees Williams as more of a key fwd target, backup ruck so I would expect probably a 70/30 split between Flynn & Williams in the ruck.

I think that Flynn is the better option if choosing from the 2, he's $85k more expensive than Xerri and unless there's cash ITB then trading Xerri to him would cost 2 trades. If Flynn looks ord then there's the option of going down to Xerri in 1 trade. I'm not going there at all, too much value in Grawndy.

Denver Grainger-Barras $137,200 (Def/Fwd)
Drafted: Round 1, Pick #6 2020 National Draft by Hawthorn

This has to be a make-or-break season for the player, too high a draft pick to cast away for lack of opportunity.
Really hoping he has a good year. He has never been a great scorer in SC, even when he has a good game, so I won't be picking him. Definitely should improve on that starting price though.

Putting together the starting squad is one of the best parts of SC for me.
But I'm finding that my first efforts this season are always bumping into the possible impacts of that weird opening round.
I know I am going to be - rightly or wrongly - influenced by what players score in the OR.

Usually we will probably make some late decisions based on practice matches, but real salary-impacting scores are more critical in my mind.
Also we will have a more concrete understanding of the roles that many players will have.
This obvously applies to any rookies that get a run in the OR, but plenty of other value options as well.
At this stage I'm considering Lynch, Z. Williams, Hore, Coleman, Himmelberg and others.. its hard not to think that the final call on all these will depend to a large extent on their OR performances.

I guess you can more confidently work on your approach to OR premos, but even then with say, Grundy you'd be likely influenced one way or the other.

All up, I think I'll be doing a lot less early head-scratching this time.
