Thanks for your thoughts. Re Bont he was simply an example of a player starting slow. I was not suggesting he will again or anyone else will or the merit of anyones preseason form. His first four games in 2023 he went 107, 125, 89 and 122 and after that fourth game he had lost 29k and was at his cheapest at any point in the season. My query was based on would a higher MN in 2024 exacerbate that type of price loss for any high priced premo. IE would in the same circumstances next year that kind of a loss now be 40k instead of 29k for example.
The MN is not your concern, as it is only 3% higher. With the same degradation of the MN, the loss should still be close to $29k, as the new MN after 4 rounds should be still 3% higher (using all the same parameters as last year).

You actual issue with Bont is after those 4 rounds he was 610k in 2023, in 2024 it is his higher starting price (not the MN). He basically needs to score 20% higher than those 4 scores to maintain only a $29k fall. AT his price, an 89 without a +150 in the next two rounds will see a large fall.

Fair to say all premiums not outperforming last year will fall 6-10% in first 7 rounds. Still better than someone who has a bye due to playing OR. Problem is if you eliminate OR full price premiums (say Daicos, Gulden, Green) and also other full priced premiums (Bont, Libba, English) it is leaving a small pool of players outside of value premiums incl OR ones (Grundy, Gawn Flanders).

Haven't looked back into last year in detail, my recollection is that the in-season MN remained higher VS previous years throughout).
All driven by the MN needed to keep the TPP constant.
Would not expect precipitous drops.

Sorry if this has already been asked, has it been confirmed 100% that scores from round 0 players will count towards breakevens and as a result, teams playing in round 0 will have price changes earlier than the rest of the competition?

Yes

Ironhawk posted this around #563

KFC SUPERCOACH START 2024
  • The KFC SuperCoach AFL season will begin in round 1, and not in Opening Round.
  • Opening Round stats will be taken into account for price changes and live scoring in some form will be available to SC Plus subscribers during the four matches.
  • It will best 18 scoring for all bye rounds, including the two-team bye weekends in rounds 2, 3, 5 and 6.
  • Any changes in the number of allocated trades will be confirmed in January, along with full gameplay details for 2024.

Thanks for re-posting. Hard to make too many concrete decisions now when ownership % will largely be dictated by what rookies/mid-pricers perform well in round 0. Annoying but also will create some opportunities to go against the pack.

My side going into the new year is as follows for now. Pretty happy with I'd say 11 keepers with Grundy being the only keeper I'm starting that will miss during the early byes -

Backs - Sicily, Stewart, Sheezel, H Young, Z Williams & Gibcus (Pink/Coffield)
Mids - Bont, Laird, Libba, Butters, H Reid, McKercher, Sanders & Curtin (Wilson/Graham/Managh)
Rucks - English & Grundy (Livingstone)
Fwds - MacCrae, T Lynch, Harmes, Combden, N Watson & Gotthard (Cadman/S Darcy).

Rookies are only place holders until we see how they are looking going into the season. My 1st trade in target will be N Daicos after their round 5 bye and Merrett after round 7. Forward line is going to be a bit of a lottery so might wait and see if any mids get mid/fwd as the season goes on. Good luck to everyone and hope you all have s safe new year. Bring on 2024.

Pretty sure I reposted what someone else had already posted anyway.

Not at all enthusiastic about putting together a team early this year, I'm thinking I wait and see how Rd 0 goes, then put something together after that. Just too much impact and compromises this year due to Rd 0. Unfortunately a lot of what seem the better rookies don't play in Rd 0 as well, it probably would have been more useful if they did.

Good looking team and looks the hard decisions we will have to make. Love the English pick, I am tempted by him as well. Not convinced Gawn has the stamina as solo ruck and if he has a partner, his scoring is impacted. No doubt fresh in OR game vs Grundy he knocks out a 130 a tempts us all.

Yes, many rookies within bottom 10 sides don't play OR. Matt Hore is back for Melb so it may be helpful with cheaper draft picks. Not sure OR stops setting up a team, one of the fun things is to build a team and constantly change it Ironhawk! yet to do so as dont have gold (can anyone confirm if it is a 12 months subscription from payment date, will sign up now if it get me through to this time next year).

Think a team with minimal OR players plus mid pricers and rookies is a reasonable place to start, will be interesting to see what can be fitted in.

I only have access to the picker due to playing BBL, think that will run out any day though (it's only meant to give the extra access for the first two rounds). You could possibly try that if you wanted access now.

If I understand it correctly Coll , GCS , GWS , Melb , Rich , Syd after Round 2 (assuming they play 3 games)

Bris , Carl will be after Round 3 along with the remaining teams

Any updates.

Is Lynch back running a full program.
Which Line is Trezise training with.?

Feeling the tigers could present some bargains Season 2024.
Lynch is on track as the club posted a picture of him doing exercise without the moon boot.
Dusty in "unbelievable" shape, Lynch's recovery on track (richmondfc.com.au)
