Looks great D4 excepted. Kiddy C or Yeo? At that price point.
Grabbed Yeo in the second half of last season but feel the starting price is a bit too rich for my liking. In my keeper league side, so do not see the need to double up in classic and still can enjoy if he gets on a good scoring run. A lot seem to be deterred by the injury risk but then the same people are attempting to eliminate risk with no exposure to early bye premiums, overexposing to the likes of Freo, NM and Port, perceived safety in “durable” premiums and overspending chasing lost points from last year. Would be interesting to hear how they envisage their 40 trades to be spent. Key with Yeo is not to view him as a season long keeper instead seeking the early points production at value and efficiently spending the cash saved from a $550k/$600k type. Could trade him via Sexton for a fwd keeper after RD6 or a mid premium early on if Daicos is started in the mids, etc if any injury occurs or it doesn’t go to plan.

Coleman and Himmelberg tough to split for D4 and with the early bye. Would like a piece of GWS against NM and WC and sounds like the ideal time to go back to the J Kelly well for the umpteenth time. Green a bit rich and considered Whitfield but that Himmelberg/Coleman price point is nice and works well if I need to fix a $250k odd player early to a missed rookie and Himmelberg/Coleman up to a $500k plus type if it doesn’t work out. Coleman will largely depend on whether I opt go for say a Dunkley/Butters type at M2 or I bring in Coleman to move up to say a C Oliver.

View attachment 68583 My 0 balance remaining team to finish the practice matches. Would like to here some feedback.
9 genuine keepers and alot of risk after that.
Seems very reactionary to the practice games.
D’Ambrosio might be ok but would take Williams if named, should be fine replacement if not but would like to see him with Weddle.

Pick McKercher, that’s a no brainer, don’t think twice about it. Would like to see Bonner and Sinclair in the same team before going there, did look good today though.

Think you’ve got too many guys in that mid 400k range that will need a fair bit to go their way to work out. Would try and get them up to a few genuine premiums.

Couple of rookies with iffy job security and roles as well. Would recommend paying up for a few such as Gibcus, Coffield, Naismith and Sharp.

It’s crazy how after weeks of changing structures numerous times a weekend, you can start from scratch and end up with a team you’re really happy with…

I think I’ve found a happy medium in terms of GnR & midpricers which will hopefully allow me to start strong, while maintaining good scores as the season goes on.

Martin and Fisher are the two that have really shot themselves into consideration this week and I think both selections well and truly have their merits.

Hopefully it’ll just be rookies that get changed from here on out.

Grundy is the only “non-rookie” selection I’m a bit iffy on but I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

I wouldn't have sexton on the bench after him game a few nights ago.

Made a few changes.

Gawn replaced Darcy with Naismith put in at R3.
Flanders moved down to Fisher. Fyfe replaced with Jordon and Harmes went down to facilitate the beefing up of my midfield.

LDU becomes Bontempelli and Martin becomes Liberatore. I feel these two have the best role of the $620k+ that isn't as likely to be eaten up by new rotations.

Not sold on being in the 22 but Roberts has the better role and scoring potential over Lazzaro for onfield duties and lastly a few rookie bench changes with Thomas and Dempsey coming in.

Pre round 0 team.

Changes in the last week;

DEF: Stewart, Houston, Gibcus -> Daicos, D'Ambrosio, Reid
Came to my senses and have brought Daicos in, the perfect VC/C option and so highly owned that you don't want to miss out on some of his early spike scores. Case to be made for him to be the highest scoring player this year and at not much than Sicily or Stewart who have questions marks about them then it is a no brainer. Not sold on the D'Ambrosio pick but does fit the structure. Might still run with Gibcus instead and use the cash elsewhere or just hold onto it.

MID: Butters, LDU, Green, Hustwaite, Wehr -> Bont, Parish, Crouch, Roberts, Wilson (from FWDs)
Gone back to the well with Bont similar to the Daicos reasoning and confidence being lost through Butters injury and LDU's praccy match. Maybe he was cruising or maybe he is a victim of players improving around him. $635k a lot to spend to find out which way it was. Parish been on my radar all pre season and he showed to me he was airborne against Geelong. Was involved in linking up play and winning some easy footy on top of his standard quick handballs in and under. Really want to pick Libba and he still may take Serong's spot as still weighing up whether Young and Fyfe into the mids helps or hinders Serong. Anyone have a big opinion either way on this? Crouch vs Wines for that M5 slot or maybe both if I'm feeling really crazy. This price range along with Martin is one I normally avoid but think it is suited for the 40 trade format we have now. Hustwaite squeezed out due to question marks on best 23 that I've seen bandied around. A lot to pay for questionable JS.

RUC: Grundy, Livingstone -> English, Naismith
English, Marshall and Grundy all a chance to partner Max for me. Think if Grundy performs in round 0 then it is his otherwise I see how much cash I have to go for between English and Marshall.

FWD: Powell, Harmes Darcy, Wilson (into MIDs) -> Fisher, Jordon, Billings, Cadman
Feel like there is an abundance of value on offer in the forwards all of a sudden. Most early drafts found I was struggling to fill enough spots down there and now almost wish we had some more. Fisher potential keeper for sub $400k seems a no brainer. We all know that a NM seagull defender can score well. Of the $200k crew Harmes has been squeezed out through no fault of his own. For me I have Fyfe and Jordon locked in and then I think it comes down to Billings vs Harmes and slightly leaning Billings' way at the moment. Reid showed what we needed to see and Cadman more of a placeholder than anything but he may have a spike score in him and do enough for a slow burn F8.

Round 0 watchlist for players not in my team are Grundy, Gibcus, Windsor, Green, Coleman, Wehr, Laurie, Lohmann, Thomas, Oliver.

Plenty of players I would like to get such as Fisher but you cant have them all....
O'Brien in the ruck:oops: that's a first in this thread!
He did just beat up on a ruckless WC, hope that didn't influence you too much.

I personally would be looking at Crouch, Martin, Amon or Holmes over Atkins.

Aside from him and Dean (does he play?), Simpson, team looks solid.

This should be the team if Zac Williams doesn't get up for round 0. He'll still be relatively easy to get if he doesn't play considering he won't get that early price rise, would also like a sighter before i'm settled on picking him. Happy fielding a Reid/Gibcus with best 18 and leaving cash in the bank instead of going to a D'Ambrosio who we haven't seen with Weddle and will probably play majority wing.

Wasn't sure on the Gulden pick until now all of Mills, Parker and Adams now down. Has a really good run as well where he put 140s on most of his first couple of opponents last year. Not worried about LDU, just becomes more of a POD now. Hopefully Butters gets up but ankle didn't sound too serious and would've played out the game in the real stuff. Was impressed by Hustwaite as well, faded out which was a bit of a worry but should be fine for the first couple of rounds with Day out.

Grundy I think is still fine. Was pretty confident unlike most he could go close to the top 2 but not too sure on that now. Looked genuinely uninterested in the practice game just jogging after the ball. Ladhams won't effect him at all, can't see why they'd get Grundy to play him with Ladhams.

Jordon originally wasn't in my team but injuries have made him come back in. Gulden and McInerney have showed wingers can score pretty well for Sydney so even if he's stuck there for the majority I'm not too worried, was a magnet in VFL. Didn't really want to pick Fisher with interrupted pre season but he showed he can actually go alright in the role and actually defend. Role is probably too good to go against. Only thing I'm worried about is having Daicos, Gulden and Grundy all on the same bye, will probably lose a few points that round but hopefully make them up over the other rounds with their ceilings.

Cheers and open to any feed back.

Good team @FlatTrackBully - common structure I’m seeing and like.

I’d be wary of so many Pies/Swans, they share the bye so you’re at least missing 5 straight away including 3 premiums which I think hurts. Unless you’re planning on flipping but I doubt that. I like Gulden, but I can’t take him with Grundy and Daicos.

Apart from that stock standard

Yeah thats the only worry, may try and offload Jordon if role looks no good by then to soften the blow.

Round 5 you will have Daicos ( Gibcus covering/ which means Reid, Coffield, Gibcus all on field), Gulden & Roberts (Sharp/ Clark have to cover), Grundy & Jordon all missing (with the swans injuries I think Jordon could post fwd keeper numbers.

I love Gulden as a player but his bye makes him a hard pick in regards to the overall structure of the team.

Community Series Team.

Now the community series is over what does a team look like made up of all the highest scoring players in each position?

What I have done is started with anyone who scored over 110 and then worked my way up in each position.
ie Jai Newcombe didn't make the cut as he scored 125 but there were 5 players who scored higher in the mids.

I have tried to put in the best score regardless of position so the fwds and rucks picks themselves as they were the highest scoring positions and as defenders were the lowest they only have 3 premos on ground.

I have also tried to include the top player for each team if they scored over 110.
As bont and libba scored within one point of one another I have excluded bont to allow more $ to spend on team
Same with Ryan and Young in defence.

I have then filled the remaining spots with the highest scoring rookies.

Thomas is there for the DPP.

So here it is.

With Gawn as Capt as they played early the total for this team is wait for it .......

2,889!!!

That is insane. Kind of gets you thinking eh?
