I know his first subbing was a planned management thing, but surely if this was as well you would tell the kid before the game?

"It's a long season for a rookie playing mid, go hard because you will be subbed" kind of thing.

If he has the tank and it was a move calculated during the game it just seems harsh

495/4 with Gawn Vc…
Awful night for supercoach scores …had Bont (73), Sanders (46), Darcy (82) and Khamis (64) as E.
taking Khamis score over Cadman, Sanders score should be relegated to my 22nd score…

Saturday: Steele, Green, Butters, New recruit Ryan, Serong,Jackson, Flanders, Fyfe with rookies Massimo, Sharp, Closehy and Williams to come…
Let’s hope supercoach gods are kind and I can still get close to 2100….

I dont have English (or gawn). I'm planning on bringing in English at some stage but he has really looked very ordinary this year. His scores have been okay with a lucky fixture but he isnt playing well. I really thought gawn would be managed but he is a gun.

It will be interesting to see if Oliver bounces back after the break? He doesn't look piggy fit but we shall see.

Not really sure what Bevo is expecting from this guy. He started off hot and naturally faded as the Dogs started to get run over. His TOG was managed too. Just let him play. He's a 5 gamer and clearly one of the best recruits they've got so just let him play.

Gallagher could've easily been the sub too.

I was incensed when I saw that Beveridge had subbed Sanders off for 43 (scaled up to 46 after the match).

Then I realised he had also subbed Sanders off in Rd 1 for 43.

So I decided to do a deep dive on our "Mr Beveridge".

Turns out that:
  • He was offered the Bulldogs head coaching job by Simon Garlick towards the end of the 2014 AFL season while still assistant at Hawthorn at the age of ... 43
  • His record number of disposals as a junior playing for St Peters Football Club in Bentleigh East was ... 43
  • His great-grandfather, Paul Beveridge, died on 28 February 19 hundred and ... 43
  • His father, legendary Saints recruiter John Beveridge, was born in 1939. However, that was an accident and his grandfather, legendary Pies centreman Jack Beveridge, and grandmother Mercia had not intended to conceive until 19 hundred and ... 43
  • He played 42 senior games for his first AFL club, Melbourne. Aha! you say, that's not enough. Yes but he also played one night match for them for a grand total of ... 43
  • He is an unabashed admirer of gritty Dogs defender Ryan Gardner who wears number ... 43
  • He is a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan and his favourite player of all time is Pro Football Hall of Famer, safety Troy Polamalu who wore number ... 43. Next week Beveridge plans to send him a DM to congratulate him on turning ... 43
  • He was head coach of the Dogs at the time of the 2021 National Draft when they took Arthur Jones at pick number ... 43
  • His favourite meal at the Boundary Hotel is the chicken parmigiana and chips (no salad thanks) which is on the menu as item number ... 43
I think the evidence is compelling. I am now convinced that Beveridge is a member of a numerology cult that worships the number 43.

Unless he is removed, and quickly, he will keep subbing off Ryley Sanders when he reaches the score of 43 to satisfy some sick paganistic desire or as an unholy tribute to his numeric deity.

For the sake of the integrity of both the Supercoach competition and the broader competition as a whole, he needs to go.

Your move AFL. The football world is watching.
Geez I love this site. In the space of a couple of days you can witness a spirited and mature discussion about whether words matter (which in most other places would have degenerated into ugliness), to numerology and pagan cults, all the while getting a super informative discourse on the game we love. And btw the above is an elite piece of comedic writing. Keep it up.

Possibly. 4 / 493 Max VC

Just hope we can all avoid the carnage and hope things improve. Going to be some interesting scores this week.
With prems scoring like rookies - Trac 59, Clarry 65, Viney 76, Bont 73, English 58, and Parish 61.
Popular rookies - Windsor 39, Gallagher 19, and Sanders 46.

Just the 1 trade at the moment. Coffield to Clohesy.

Bevo has to be the worst coach in AFL, amazes me how the doggies have kept the faith for so long.
Only 8 current AFL coaches have ever won a premiership; only 6 of those have won one at their current club (including Beveridge).

By that metric, he's still better than a lot of the competition.

On the one hand you could say that premierships won is not actually a good metric for measuring the quality of a coach... on the other hand you could say it's the only one that ultimately matters

They weren't the best team in 2016 but they were premiers and that's all that matters I guess

Dogs wouldn't have won 2016 if Smith had kicked the goal after the siren against the Cats. I can still see the grin he gave before he kicked it...
