How are people bringing in Sweet?

I have Livingstone at R3, so it seems wasteful to pay 50k extra for Sweet there. I presume you are ditching a fwd and running Livingstone as a donut up forward?

Sweet playing first actually helps because it allows us to see if his score is worth fielding, especially with people who own Grundy/Meek and are due to move off them.

Livingstone then goes forward and you can use him as a loop option (depending on who your F7-8 are).

I really want to avoid sideways trading Steele, as you just lose ground on the race to finish your team. Therefore, is there any merit in using Steele as a "downgrade" to another premium to unlock cash towards another upgrade?

Steele > Dale unlocks 144K & Steele > Macrae unlocks 115K - are either of these moves worth it to maintain upgrade momentum?
Would question whether you are losing ground….yes you may be keeping the same amount of premiums but your are improving your position in order to add either cash or get a better scorer on field which will net you more points…

both of those trades I would question….Macrae and Dale could be impacted by Libba and richards returning to the original roles and therefore render The trade pointless with minimal points gain…

Only way I trade out Steele is to get one of the top tier Merrett, Rowell , Bont or Heeney types…

Dont see it as wasteful if you are clearly going to make cash out of the trade as opposed to holding onto/ losing cash on a rookie that has peaked in price…
Correct either a fwd or mid rookie with high breakeven and move livingston up forward and use emergency to get a glimpse at first rookie score on bench…

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I suppose there is a risk Dale & Macrae don't fire, but there is also still upside both average 95-100 from here and you pocket 115-140K that can be put towards a double upgrade next week.

I question whether there is upside on a Steele sideways trade to a Merrett type, when it allows someone who already owns Merrett (instead of Steele) to additionally bring in Rowell this week and get an extra premium ahead of you. Then you are playing catch up on them until the byes.

Yes because he has a guaranteed good run of games as main ruck while Soldo is out and he's already proven he can score so when you can make a bunch of cash like that fast, you almost have to go for it to make up for all the other duds that don't pay off so well...and it just helps you to get another premium or 2 into your side.
Couldn't agree more Russty the cash is just too good just like Comden

No problems best of luck whichever way you choose to go…

Thoughts on Jase Burgoyne being good enough to be the 6th back? I missed the 170k starting price but at 321k for a potential keeper I still like it... or just pay the extra 136 k for dale who has advantage of the kick ins too?

The likelihood of Burgoyne being a keeper is slim to none. He's been good the last three rounds but it's extremely unlikely that he goes 100+ from here. He has also scored a 57 in a full game and been sub twice.

Last week was the last chance to get on board as a cash cow only.

I think if he was a forward it might be possible, but I think the bar for 'keeper' defenders is much higher. What do you see him averaging, probably needs ideally to be averaging 100+, the top 12 are currently going 100+, so I think he needs to average significantly higher than currently to be worth it.

I agree, he is probably a bad miss, but not sure IMO he is worth it now, I just think he is not at the level that he will not be traded again.

Edit: Pretty much what @Ben's Beasts said.

Going Steele > Dale myself. I have Dale going at a ~100 average from here and Steele at a ~90 average. I’m gaining 144K and getting an extra 10ppg. I see that as worth a trade. Realistically, I’m going to be trading Steele at his bye anyway, and who knows how little value he’ll hold then.

Sweet at $150k is in a different ballpark altogether than Comben.

Comben has “only” made $72k, and isn’t looking like making a hell of a lot more if he middles at 60s scores. Hypothetically, you could’ve saved $100k and invested it elsewhere by going early on Biggy that week, given up a few (minimal) points the last two weeks if required on field, plus taken a $50k rise last week on Biggy.

Bit still to play out there with Comben, particularly if he can produce a score to reignite cash generation this week. But Sweet is a completely different beast to him.

I did look twice at that comment as well. With Sweet you know the role is lucrative and locked in. With Comben there was more hope than certainty.

At this point Comben has made $20K more than Biggie for an extra $100K outlay. Could change from here of course.

Here is my team below:

Really torn on best way to bring in Sweet, i don't have Livingstone, therefore cant trade a fwd & swing Livingstone fwd for Sweet, really dont want to get rid of Naismith either as he has more cash to make & have to actually pay up to get Sweet, would have to trade Grundy to Sweet, but then can't really look at Sweet's score, would have to start him onfield.

Am also biting the bullet and trading Steele to either Merrett or Dawson. Only one spot left in mids for either Merrett or Petracca if i bring in Dawson tonight for Steele.

Thanks for any advice.

Grundy>Sweet
LOCK IT IN EDDIE!

Also don't think there is anything wrong with getting rid of Naismith for Sweet if you don't want to upgrade Grundy soon to say English (which is a good option) and you don't need the money required this week by a downgrade.
