Yeh he rarely gets a touch in the D50. The CB mids that hang around tend to do a lot more D50 work.

Having the chance at 20% extra bonus in D50 takes a few mids to that extra level.
This is a good point.

My understanding is that the bonus also applies in F50, so players like Trac may benefit on the other side.

I think it's the opposite.
Below is the disposal colour chart from the DFS website. Green is D50, Blue is behind the centre circle, Yellow is forward of the centre circle and Red is F50. The first game of the season is at the bottom and the last game at the top. The defensive mid is rarely on the last line of defence so that disposal from the half back line to the half forward line, blue zone, doesn't do the damage that a kick into the F50 or a scoring shot does, yellow and red.
Flanders and Sheezel went from very good backline roles to very good mid roles and arguably had better roles than Anderson and LDU. Dal Santo would have been a similar type at his best.
I agree with you to the point that the less skillful mid needs to fall back to prop up their scores, but I think the attacking mid has more chance of reaching a higher level.

Petracca a clear standout on those. Sheezel dipped when he moved away from the green mid table and Flanders dropped off a lot at the end with only goals saving him.

To me it shows where the improvement is needed to go the next level and the others not any room for more.

Sheezel and Flanders weren't mids at the start of the year. Defensive mids can still elevate their score through tackles but they are unlikely to do it through disposals as they don't get the scaling.

Yeh a defensive mid caps at 90-100. Anderson needs the forward half to take the next step whilst maintaining his D50 work and Heeney/Petracca need the D50 work.

Merrett I can see being the most likely to increase his work in the D50. Different levels between a defensive mid, a forward mid and the top mids like Bont, Neale and Serong helping out in the D50.

Petracca has an 117 average from just above 50 games when he went into the D50 to help out.
